Naboo Blues

When Mara recieved leave to go to Naboo, she was brimming with anticipation. The planet was a paradise, full of lush greenry and water falls, and domed buildings of jade and tan that shined brightly in the sun and at night captured light and made Theed look like candles in a temple.

The Jedi Starfighter landed in a hangar, some guards with black mulisk shaped leather helms approached. Mara handed her lightsaber to them as they checked a datapad, she climbed out of the cockpit as the guard said,
“All clear, welcome to Naboo.”

Retrieving her lightsaber hilt, The Padawan left the hangar and was now in the City of Theed at night, great fountains with lights that made them shine as the clear water fell into circular basins and great falls of green ivy from terraces made the courtyard tranquil. The Palpatine was taking if all in, the world of her Ancestor, where her bloodline began…

It was the end of another successful business trip, and on the way back to Naboo, Ra might have had one or a few too many drinks. While the feeling was fleeting, she enjoyed the rush of being drunk and attempted to maneuver carefully through the spaceport. Luckily, she had help, and she followed her servant through the crowd.

She was quickly cleared and took a deep breath of the fresh air as she walked out of the spaceport.

"It is wonderful to breathe. Don't you think?"

Stumbling to a stop, the redhead took another deep breath and let it out rather noisily.

"Let's get home. Unless you can think of anything to do..."

Mara made her way through the streets of Theed, it was quiet and tranquil, save for some noise coming from afar, she mace her way towards it as she saw neon light of a Gungan that looked like it was dancing, beneath it read Thesa Dancin Gungan. It clearly was a cantina, and The Palpatine could use a drink and something go eat at this late hour.

She stepped inside and there was all manner of rowdiness, four Gungans sang near a glowing juxbox,
“Mesa me need.. yousa lovin armsa.”
Mara smirked as she camd to t he bat and no sense Gungan with an eyepatch and green skin said,
“We don’t serva yousa kind here.. go back to your wineries Naboo.”
He turned around and wiped a glass, she tapped his sash.
I could use a meal, and I would like to pay for a round for those four and their cheerful song.”

The Bartender eyed her as she laid credits on the bar table.
“You musta not be a from around hersa.. no Naboo coma in here. Our establisa ment dis disrepect.”

She sat on her stool with a face of sunshine. “I think its charming! I love your sign. Do you allow dancing?
The One Eyed Bartender raised his lid as a brow.
“Tis allowed.. no onsa has a wanted too.”

She went to one of sad Gungans at the jux and offered her hand, he looked at it confused as she took his and began to dance, the three other Gungans stared in awe, one of them clicked a song that played:

The Gungans stirred at the pipes and the Bartender gave slight smile, suddenly the sauced Gungans were now all dancing about, their grim faces turned upside down. For the first time in a long time they all we rousing and singing along as they knocked some Gungan ale glasses together.

Outside the Naboo neighbor nearest had its lights come on as Nabooians took note to the change in the sound of the Cantina, prompting some to even come out and dare to draw near to see what all the fuss was about.

Inside Mara was laughing heartily as she joined the line of Gungans dancing in a circle, The Bartender even clapping along to the tune playing on the juxbox. The door opened as some women and men in Theed apparel looked and started to dance a little, feeling the groove. The Palpatine had bridged a gap, she had done it with dance, and joy. She could not be more different than the Ancestor who had called this planet home.

"Mistress, I think we should get something to eat. You're usually hungry."

Taking this at the suggestion it was, the redhead started walking away from the spaceport. A private speeder greeted her, and they all climbed in after stowing the baggage in the back.

"So right you are. Let's go someplace different."

Luckily, these people had been around her long enough to understand her slurring. It was also a good thing she wasn't a violent drunk. Sitting in the rear, the woman was not in any driving condition, and she knew this. Allowing the driver to take the lead, they pulled up to a new cantina called The Dancing Gungan.

By the time they arrived, her buzz was starting to fade, and her stomach started growling. Her employees knew her routine and held the door open for her. When she walked in, the door closed behind them, and she took a seat quickly to avoid getting run over by the dancing line.

Mara Palpatine Mara Palpatine

Mara had finished another round of dance and all the Gungans were giggling and sticking out their tongues and making noises of praise. She took a seat on a stool and the former cold Bartender said,

“Yousa broughta joysa.. drinks on da house.”

She ordered a Gungan Gin, and looking over saw a newcomer, a Lady with ginger hair. She seemed in a different spirit than the room, and The Palpatine who was panting from the exertion and beaming with smiles greeted her.

Hello, my name is Mara. I am new to Naboo.

She said these words in her soft and spunky tone. As she said this the door opened and security guards with a man of dark complexion, and shiny blade at his waist stepped in. The Bartender frowned and steppsd out with his newly approved license.

The Officer with the blade said,
“I am not here about your establishment Gungan.. I am here about a Palpatine! Yes a Palpatine has returned to Naboo and I have orders to bring them in! Now where are they? Hmmm?”

From Serenity (2005)

He began to pace and look at yhe locals, some he recognized. He then turned to the Bar, looking at Riamah Riamah and Mara. Mara began to stand up, her face grave. She had been dancing them oment before, and in total jubilation, and now she felt as if she would spend the night in jail.

"Ra'a'mah Numare. Call me Ra. Nice to meet you, Mara."

She was a businesswoman and provided her full name from the start. Not everybody was like this, and Ra accepted that. This was a random encounter, and she didn't expect to run into Mara again. One never knew, though, and there was a chance she could help Ra and her movement against the Sith.

Looking in the direction of the door when security walked in, Ra lowered her eyebrows at the man's tone. The festive atmosphere evaporated in seconds, and it seemed like the other patrons wanted to fade into the woodwork. Ra listened to what he had to say, glanced at Mara, and shrugged.

"I'm curious, officer, why you are searching for a Palpatine?"

While she did not stop Mara from standing, there was a good chance his attention would be on her. With her glowing yellow eyes, there was even a better chance she would be thought of as the Palpatine in question.

Mara Palpatine Mara Palpatine

Mara smiled at Riamah Riamah and said,
It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Then the nice little gathering was upturned when a Security Officer broke in with forces, he began asking about her surname. Ra stepped in and asked what they wanted with a Palpatine.

The Officer looked intently at Ra,
“Thay information is privileged.”

Mara was concerned, he began walking up to women and examining them like a prob droid. Unwilling to let anyone be mistakenly taken, she spoke up,
I am Mara Palpatine.”

The Officer turning on his leather boot heel looked at her with a glare.
“Thank you for stepping forward.. now.. your weapon..”

Mara unclipped her durasteel lightsaber hilt from her belt and handed it to The Officer, he pocketed it and had electro cuffs placed around her wrists.

“None of that Force business..” said The Officer.

Mara gave a nod. The Gungans looked downcast, their long ears falling and their heads pointed down. The Officer offering hus gloved hand in gesture towsrd the door, “shall we?”

Mars gave one last look at the Gungans and crowd of people,
Cheer up! Everything will be sorted.

She put on a brave face, the truth is she had no idea what would happen. Her surname she knew one day might cause her grief, but as a Jedi she had not experienced any distrust from her Master, nor her peers. She hoped this could be resolved swiftly, and as she was taken out of cantina back into opulence of Theed’s streets, she found herself once more enchanted by the home world of her ancestor.

The joyous encounter ended far too quickly, and Ra simply watched as the security escorted Mara from the cantina. The other woman made a small parting comment, and she hoped it was true. She didn't quite hold the same sway here as she did with other governments and had decided to live low on Naboo.

Her drinks had worn off, and the glowing-eyed redhead had a clear mind. She wanted to help Mara to the best of her ability. This late in the evening, there wasn't anything she could do. However, this gave her all night to plan and set things into motion.

Even though she might not be deep in with the government on Naboo, she could likely try to use some of the connections her husband had. He was a Master and had probably made some in the years he had lived here before they had met and gone into business together.

Finishing off her meal, she paid for it and whatever Mara ordered. With plans floating in her mind, Ra headed home for the night.

Mara Palpatine Mara Palpatine

Mara was escorted to the brig in a facility with a mint green dome, and security officers within. The Palpatine was taken into a room, and the entry was then shield with ray shields, so that she could not leave. She sat down on a floating bench on the wall and considered what this was about. She knew her family name was known on Naboo, but had not Rey Palpatine cleared that name? Or well she went by Rey Skywalker, perhaps that was the problem, no one but a handful of people knew she had been Palpatine.

She figured she would have to settle in for the night, when the Captain of the Guard came to shield and took it down and stepping in with a datapad, it then went back up.
"You must forgive the abruptness upon which I had to execute your escort. There has not been Palpatine on Naboo in millenia."
Mara nodded,
"That is quite alright Captain. I have been expecting the Past to catch up to me at some point. I am just glad no harm came to anyone."
Looking at her and then the file on his touch screen he said,
"It is hard to believe you are descendant of Sheev. I am almost inclined to think its a mistake, but we took a blood sample and it confirms you are indeed a Palpatine."
Mara crossed her wrists nerviously,
"What does this mean? Am I to be detained?"
The Officer shook his head,
"No.. we do not visit the sins of the ancestor on their progeny. Rather it is our Queen, she requests an audience with you."
Mara was shocked, why would monarch of the Naboo want to meet her?
"I do not understand.. why would she desire to meet me? I am not even a Jedi Knight."
The Officer replied,
"You can ask her once we finish clearing you for a rendezvous."
Mara smirked and gave a nod.
"I have checked the Galatic Alliance records and other miscellanies that confirm you are a Jedi, that you were a Silver Jedi under Master Ike, is that correct?"
Mara nodded,
"Yes, she is a Great Master of the Force. I am ashamed that I did not finish my training under her. I hope to find a Master who can help me hone my skills to benefit the galaxy."
The Officer nodded as he scrolled,
"Though is there not potential danger in that? You being a true heir to the Emperor.. you could be a great asset to the Sith who are conquering systems everywhere.. a Palpatine would give them their Saint, a name for the cause."
Mara sighed,
"The Dark Side is of no interest to me.. I only care about others. My confidence in my own abilities is very low.. thus I have no ambition to take a throne."
The Captain laid down the datapad,
"That is what I wanted to hear.. now, the Queen wishes to meet in the Lake Country under moon light.. do not ask me why.. I only see to her safety and that of Naboo. You can ask your questions when you are in Royal Presence, understand?"
Mara nodded,
"I understand Captain."
He replied,
"Good. We best get you there.. I will keep your weapon till after you finish your audience."
Mara smiled,
"Please take care of it, that 'weapon is my life." (Obi-Wan Kenobi Saying).
