OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a sensor suite module for the closed market.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Range extender for traditionally short-range sensors.
  • Jamming countermeasures.
STRENGTHS
  • Range Enhancer: The Vahla is able to extend the range of traditional short-range sensors to an absolute maximum distance of around five light-years.
  • Countermeasures for Countermeasures: The Vahla includes anti-jamming technology designed to resist sensor jamming technology.
WEAKNESSES
  • Size Constraints: The maximum range at which the Vahla can extend a sensor's reach depends on the amount of space afforded to it, which roughly translates to the size of the ship.
  • Lack of Sensor: The Vahla is merely a sensor enhancer module, and a ship will still require sensor systems to operate.
DESCRIPTION
The MXC-T25 Vahla Sensor Suite Module is a new technology design made by Roble Manufacturing designed to increase and enhance the performance of starship sensor technologies. Although it is intended to work alongside the MXC-R13 Saja-class Sensor Array, a popular model of sensor array designed and produced by Roble Manufacturing as well, the Vahla benefits from being able to integrate and function with practically any model of sensor array or suite already installed within a ship.

In essence, the Vahla increases the range and potency of existing sensor systems, including sensor range extenders and countermeasures. The first feature of the Vahla allows whatever ship using the module to increase the range at which the sensors of a ship can properly function. This effect applies to normal sensors only, as long-range sensors already exceed the maximum range of the module by its inherent design. The maximum at which the Vahla can extend range is around five light-years, although the caveat on this is that significant space is required for the module to be extended this far; generally, only star dreadnaughts can achieve this range, while battlecruisers and smaller are only able to extend the range at proportionally smaller amounts. This conversion rate is vague depending on how much of a ship's structure is dedicated to the module, but the general rule is that the smaller the ship, the smaller the range will be.

The Vahla also includes countermeasures for traditional sensor jamming systems, making it harder for electronic warfare devices to jam ships with the sensor module functioning. This allows ships with the Vahla installed to be able to resist jamming and sensor countermeasures. Altogether, the Vahla is an extremely capable sensor enhancing module that will no doubt be extremely valuable for ships equipped with the module.
