STRENGTHS

Planetary Defense - Each of these impressive fortresses is equipped with an immense array of laser cannons, blaster cannons, and missile systems that the MX-905 can use to saturate entire airspaces or ground zones with continuous, layered fire, complementary to its role as a Planetary Defensive emplacement.

Atmospheric Hangar Capacity - The MX-905 can support a small contingent of Atmospheric Airspeeders and Gunships, further supplementing its already impressive offensive and defensive capabilities. This contingent of Atmospheric Vehicles allows the MX-905 to easily deploy its onboard contingent of Mandalorian Warriors and War Droids to secure forward positions or strike enemy points.

Automation - Many of the secondary and tertiary systems in these fortresses are highly automated, allowing the crew to focus on their primary roles and tasks without worry. This allows these impressive floating fortresses to be crewed by smaller numbers, without draining the limited manpower available.

Dedicated Anti-Air Capabilities - Flak guns, point-defense cannons, and tracking systems make the MX-905 exceptionally effective at countering starfighters, bombers, and incoming ordnance from ground-based attacks.

Elevated Firing Position - The MX-905 is an airborne fortress, and benefits from superior lines of sight and firing angles compared to ground-based defenses. This position can be altered through the use of powerful Repulsorlift Engines coupled with Tractor Pins to increase or decrease the altitude at which these floating fortresses are within the Atmosphere.

Strategic Command & Psychological Impact - Its size, sensor suite, and crew capacity allow it to coordinate large-scale defensive operations across a planetary theater. This, when coupled with its presence in the sky, serves as a powerful intimidation tool against enemy forces when defending a planet or deployed to secure a beachhead.

WEAKNESSES

Maneuverability - The MX-905 is not known for its speed, often plotting along slowly when towed into position or moved to a new location; likewise, it lacks maneuverability and is incapable of performing rapid or precision maneuvers.

Tractor Pins - Though equipped with powerful Repulsorlift Engines, these floating fortresses also utilize a series of moorings to keep the vehicle stationary in the atmosphere unless being relocated to a new position. Should these pins be damaged, these fortresses could come crashing down to the surface.

Atmospheric Limitation - These massive fortresses, though impressive in size, grandeur, and armaments, are nonetheless restricted to atmospheric operation, making them ineffective in space without external support platforms.

High Resource Cost - Each MX-905 requires time to construct, resources to maintain, and sizable crews despite its automated systems, limiting production and operational flexibility.

Limited Tactical Flexibility - Its purpose is defense and siege; it is intended to be deployed to hold its ground, which causes it to struggle in dynamic or rapidly changing combat environments. Likewise, it is restricted to atmospheric operations, making it ineffective in space without additional external support platforms.

Large Target Profile - A massive fortress in both size and personality, making it an easy target for capital ships, bombers, and long-range artillery.

DESCRIPTION

The MX-905 Type Floating Fortress is the pinnacle of Mandalorian atmospheric defense engineering, a massive airborne stronghold designed to dominate planetary battlescapes through sheer firepower and resilience. Developed by Aether Systems as an evolution of their earlier AF-M902 and AO-M902 aerial platforms, the MX-905 merges the doctrines of siege warfare, air superiority denial, and rapid troop deployment into a single, formidable platform. Suspended high above the battlefield via powerful repulsorlift systems, the fortress serves as both a strategic bastion and a mobile command center. Its extensive arsenal, ranging from heavy laser cannons and blaster batteries to a vast array of missile systems, allows it to engage targets across multiple ranges and threat profiles simultaneously. Whether obliterating ground fortifications, intercepting hostile aircraft, or disabling enemy armor with ion weaponry, the MX-905 is engineered to control the battlefield from above. Defensively, the fortress is equally imposing, with reinforced armor plating, deflector shielding, and dense layers of point-defense systems, making it exceptionally difficult to destroy outright. Anti-missile systems and flak coverage create a protective umbrella, while redundant subsystems ensure continued operation even under sustained attack.
