ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Strengths:
  • Heavy defenses, especially against ion/EMPs
  • Heavy firepower (compared to ships its size)
Weaknesses:
  • Very slow: some frigates can overtake and flank it
  • Rapid-fire turbolasers can only be effective at half a standard turbolaser range
  • Easy to capture if a hull breach doesn't kill the ship: the internal space mostly gave way to the hangars, giving the ship limited space for crewmembers
Description: After the utter failure of the original Mustafar-class in the Ison Corridor, the class was once thought to be irrecuperable; however, the design team assigned to the original Mustafar-class spent years trying to get the issues that plagued the predecessor to get a new life to the ship. As such, new fuel tanks, new cap drains were installed, while the old, main bulky hardpoint was replaced by a number of much smaller hardpoints, and also with the internal space replaced to make way for one squadron of attack craft, keeping the ship as slow as its predecessor was. It became clear that the Mustafar-II was no longer used as a monitor, but rather, as an escort ship intended to fight other escorts and other ships smaller than itself. Nevertheless, thanks to the limited, cramped space for the crew, it is still rather easy to capture. Of course, missile deactivation transmitters are there to potentially provoke premature detonations of warheads fired at it.
