DESCRIPTION
The Orion Corporation saw a need to develop a stealth blaster that could be used by the upcoming covert-operations mercenary group being funded by the company. The Murdock Stealth Blaster Rifle was based upon the Clone Wars era DC-19 "Stealth" carbine. Many of the components from this weapon system were copied by The Orion Corporation, however improvements and modernisations were made upon the DC-19 to optimise performance and allow it to compete with other modern weapon systems.
As with the DC-19 “Stealth” carbine, the Murdock features a built-in sound suppressor unit which ceases all firing sounds of the weapon when the trigger is pulled. This makes it an effective weapon for stealth operations. Another feature of the Murdock is the ability to use refined tibanna gas when firing, which blaster bolts invisible to the naked eye. This system is also utilised in the DC-19, however The Orion Corporation made improvements on both the cooling and feeding systems, this reduced the time periods between each shot and allows for greater ammunition capacity before a reload is needed. The high cost and relatively low availability of refined tibanna gas (when compared to normal tibanna gas) means that it is unlikely for soldiers to be provided with more than one canister containing the gas. The final stealth addition to the weapon is the coating of reflec on the outer casing; this can stop sensors and absorb any visible light that it is exposed to.
Most of the Murdock Stealth Blaster Rifle is made of duralumin. This alloy allows for the weapon to remain lightweight whilst still being sturdy and reliable. The weapon also has a rail on top of the barrel, this rail is compatible with most scopes and other top-barrel attachments. A separate sight/scope is required with the Murdock as it lacks any form of iron sights.
