Intent: A trap bounty hunters and others requiring its use can use to trap their quarry and freeze them in carbonite
Manufacturer: Mystic Tekk
Model: N/A
Affiliation: General Buyers on the Market
Modularity: Yes, liquid carbonite can be replaced with other liquids, such as tranquilizers or poisons
Production: Minor
Material: Molten Carbonite, particle shield emitter, ray shield emitter, liquid-spraying nozzle, remote activator, motion activator, liquid nitrogen, MT-U23 Anti-Thermal Rod (Version 1)

Classification: Trap
Size: Handheld
Length: 3/4 meter x 3/4 meter
Weight: 15 kg
Ammunition Type: Molten Carbonite canister
Ammunition Capacity: 57 liters of molten carbonite (1 canister)
Effective Range: The generator casts a field with a 10 foot diameter

Rate of Fire: Gas emits at a rate of about 1 gal/sec

Special Features:
  • Can capture a target (or targets) within the field
  • Can spray liquid into the field (Carbonite)
  • Can be activated by either a motion sensor or remote detonator
  • Field is surrounded by two layers, a particle shield and a ray shield, preventing escape.

Description: This device can be either activated by a motion sensor or a remote activator. It casts a field (10 foot diameter), then contracts to only a 5 foot diameter around the target. The innermost layer of the field is a particle shield, and the outermost is a ray shield. Once the field is cast, the MT-U23 Anti-Thermal Rods deploy, rapidly cooling the area to below freezing temperatures. The rods are retractable, so at first, they only seem to be small cylinders. By deploying, I mean they emerge from their positions around the center of the device, extending to their full length. This also prevents any more heat from entering the field, as it would just get absorbed. Carbonite is then sprayed into the field. This flash-freezes the target. The device can also be programmed to capture the target, then release the liquid when the user is ready. The field comes down when user orders it to do so with the remote activator.

Please use the ranged weapon template.

While the gas itself may be contained in a compressed amount, please be aware that carbonite gas needs to be kept in a freezing chamber (something to keep it at below freezing temperatures), and the size listed (and weight) will increase dramatically by introducing a ray and particle shield generator with the range of 50 meters. As far as it stands, this construction won't necessarily work either way - 10 gallons of gas in 50 meters will be too thin of a concentration for its effects to take hold. Carbonite gas also is compressed into solid carbonite for storage, in order to transport tibanna gas - it is not a weaponized material.

So would the concept be that the gas has has to be below freezing point in order for it to reach a solid state? The goal is to carbon-freeze the target.

Carbonite gas is not used for freezing people in carbonite. Liquid carbonite (also known as "molten carbonite") is combined with Tibanna gas in the carbonite freezing process to store tibanna gas and transport it, which may be where you're getting the idea of carbonite gas from. Carbonite gas itself will not carbon-freeze a target - although I'm sure that carbonite gas at the temperature necessary or close to necessary for reaching liquid state (well below freezing for water) would certainly freeze a human being or at least cause severe frost bite. So in essence, what you're seeking to do is not possible. At least not with carbon gas. There are canon carbonite guns, however, which fire liquid carbonite to temporarily freeze/paralyze a target.

Looking into it a little more, I'll need to "flash freeze" the carbonite gas in order to store an organism inside. This it the same process Darth Vader used to capture Han Solo, so it'll take a bit of work replicating the process, but I think I can do it.

The process Han Solo was frozen in was using a specialized chamber on Bespin that froze Tibanna gas and was modified to freeze a human. Trying to create a semi-portable version isn't exactly going to be feasible, considering its size and weight. A trap which sprayed liquid carbonite, however, would be perfectly feasible and practical.

How are these cooling rods deployed? How is a total of 94.6 liters of material, including the shield generators, the actual spraying equipment, and the cooling rods, capable of only weighing in at 7kg? The sheer size for something carrying these many objects, especially with the inclusion of 94.6 liters of material, is going to be much larger than .25 m.

I need to see a large amount of changes for this to be acceptable.

Also, liquid carbonite alone is enough to succeed in temporarily flash-freezing a target. Liquid nitrogen is much more lethal.
