STRENGTHS

Troop Ship - Intended to be utilized to deploy Alliance Troops planetside, each dropship is capable of supporting and deploying a Battalion of troopers, their support personnel, and any accompanying vehicles and materials.

Hangar Capacity - Each MT-2 is capable of supporting, maintaining, and deploying up to two squadrons of Starfighters or Bombers. Additionally, it is also capable of supporting two further support squadrons consisting of Shuttles or Unarmed Transports.

Command Center - The top of the conical cone structure houses the primary Command Center which is lined with a series of reinforced Crystasteel viewports. The command center can switch between two separate configurations, one for atmospheric operations which provides a commanding view of the surrounding area. The second allows for an optimal view out of the top of the craft when traversing through space. This section also houses communications, sensor, and scanner arrays to collect information and maintain communication between the vessel, other MT-2 Dropships, deployed units and vehicles, and any orbital fleet.

WEAKNESSES

Sluggish - The MT-2 was not designed to be utilized in fleet combats and as such was not designed with speed or maneuverability in mind. It is otherwise incapable of performing any nimble or precise maneuver, nor is it capable of achieving accelerated sublight speeds.

Command Center - Located at the top of the conical cone structure, the command center of the dropship is an easily identifiable target. Though well armed, sufficient damage to this section can render the craft inoperable while traversing through space, cause it to veer off course during orbital landings, or otherwise cut off the supported troops and vehicles due to the destruction of the communication array which is located in this same area.

Defensive Coverage - While oriented to enact a planetary landing from orbit, the vessel is known to lack coverage along the ventral section which houses the engines and lower cargo and transport levels as the majority of the craft's armaments and defensive capabilities do not cover this section of the vessel.

DESCRIPTION

Conflicts are not only fought by massive fleets in the depths of space or the dogged combat between squadrons of Starfighters and Bombers, they are just as equally fought and won on the ground across the thousands of planets that make up the known Galaxy. In such events, the rapid delivery and deployment can mean the difference between the success of a tactical planetary invasion or the defeat as landing craft are turned into slag in the atmosphere. The MT-2 Dropship was designed to provide the means to not only safely land troops on a planet but to also provide an established base and foothold to an invading force by providing additional support to any ground forces it is capable of deploying. The MT-2 Dropship retains a similar conical design as its predecessors, atop which sits the Command Center which can be switched between two separate configurations. The first is utilized when operating in atmospheric conditions and provides a commanding view of the surrounding area for the crew and commanders while the second configuration is utilized while traversing through space, and allows for an optimal view out of the top of the craft. This area also houses multiple communications, sensor, and scanner arrays which are utilized to collect information and maintain communication between the craft, other MT-2 Dropships, deployed units and vehicles, and any orbital fleet. However, this area is also one of the weak points of the craft as it is easily targeted as sufficient damage to this area can render the craft inoperable, preventing it from traversing through space, potentially veering off course during orbital landings, or otherwise cut off deployed troops and vehicles from vital communications. A noted addition to the MT-2 Dropship that is missing from its predecessor is the inclusion of a hyperdrive, albeit a slow one, which allows the vessel to reach a battlefield on its own, though it can still be escorted via Capital Ships. Additional design features that are missing from its predecessors can also be seen due in part to the larger size of the MT-2 Dropship, specifically, its capability to house, maintain, and deploy up to two squadrons of Starfighters or Bombers. Furthermore, it is also capable of maintaining and deploying two support squadrons of Shuttles or Unarmed Transports to assist in ferrying or evacuating personnel and civilians in and out of an area of conflict. As the Galactic Alliance continues to mend the fractures caused by the Stellar Convergence, the MT-2 Dropship has already begun to see itself being deployed to those planets affected the most by the collision of the Galaxies with troops being deployed alongside vital humanitarian aid and refugees rapidly being evacuated from dangerous situations.
