Moving forward from history. [GR Foreign Relations Mission]

Eshan, Sannes Family Estate.
Just outside of the Capital.
1245 Galactic Standard Time.
Alexander watched the sky as he waited for those who he had called to the family estate he would be using for this meeting. It wasn't overly large, though it was obviously still easy to see the build up over thousands of years. His family had been lucky to avoid destruction throughout the centuries, especially when the Gulag Plague had hit, but that was history he could care less about in this moment. All that mattered was that the area he met the Mandalorian in was reasonable and that the man felt comfortable.
That was what he found interesting about the Mandalorian culture, they were a people that respected strength and rarely sat down to speak in words, which brought Alexander to the idea of instead of some fancy table surrounded by food, they could talk or even spar should the mandalorian find it needed. He was unsure if that was what the man would find respectable, but he knew a table where he acted like a pompous man trying to impress the visitor with paintings and food.
Well... he hoped this mandalorian wasn't like that.
He himself wore something far less formal than a number of his fellow Senators. It was still formal but instead of being restrictive it was still more than free for movement. At his waste was a pouch with his comm and datapad while attached to that same belt was a cylinder object that most would mistake for the Echani battle staff, he didn't bother correcting them as it helped keep him being a forcer under wraps. He hated that he was criticized for being one, part of the reason he didn't even bother studying that part of who he was and further the reason he rebuilt the saber to resemble the item his people are famous for.
His head shook and he sighed as his eyes turned towards one of the estates distant security who stood near the landing pad console, waiting for the transport to arrive. This was step one, he needed to make sure he did this correctly.

There would be no others coming.
Heavy footsteps could be heard from outside the family estate, metal scraping the duracrete.
The muffled sound of the gate receptionist meekly asking who the man was.
"Ra."
The goliath Mandalorian began to make his way towards the man's estate, his wolf-fur cloak dragging the ground behind him. Mand'alor, he was. Sole Ruler of Mandalore. The highest foreign relations representative of the Mandalorian people, and the only person capable of capable of calling upon all the sovereign Clans of Mandalore. He had risen quickly through the ranks of Clan Vizsla, and had challenged the Council of Alors for the right to be proclaimed Protector of their Ancestral homeland. Now, the Galactic Republic called upon Ra to treat.

They were standing out in the open field before the estate. Ra recognized this man as the one who made the request.

Mand'alor stood before him, silent.

Alexander looked up when he heard someone approaching, his eyes focusing in on the man with a small smile curving up his lips as the man was everything he expected of a Mandalorian leader. If he was not so... excited internally, he might have shown a bit less interest in this man before him, this older and much more imposing man who walked towards him made his hands cross behind him in a more trained fashion. He was not a stranger to military conduct, no noble born on Eshan was without being a bit of a disappointment to that of which they were born to.

Once the man was within earshot his body lowered itself for a few seconds out of respect before straightening up and staring at Ra's face for a few seconds.

"Mandalor Vizsla... i hope it is ok for me to address you as such. I am unaware if you know my name but i am Alexander Sannes, Senator of Eshan. I contacted you of my own choice, not on order of those who hold their council with each other."

He paused and waved his hand to the side, motioning to the open path within the compound.

"Shall we walk while we talk? I assure you this place is secure and allows free speech within its walls. Those here will not interrupt or repeat our words, not that there should be a reason to worry in the first place."

Ra was intrigued.

He was instantly given the impression, despite the man's demeanor and his possessions, that this man could be of any use to him within the Republic. Nor was he sent here in an official capacity - this was a back channel. So why clamor for the Mand'alor's attention? Was there any use outside of the constant squabbling of the Senate that this man could present to Mandalore or its people? Ra crossed his arms across his chest, snorting and looking off into the gaze of the sunset.

"Why am I here?"

Ever to the point, Ra was.

"You and i both will not speak about a rose-tinted future. The past actions of my republic were rather damning, far back to the times of the fall of the Sith Empire is what i can remember being how new i am to the worlds that you have seen for decades more than myself. That does not mean i am naive though, as i fully understand peace with the republic in its current state, even a mutual enemy is... near impossible." He paused as his hand reached up to push through his hair as he talked, one hand still crossed behind his back while he did.

"Currently the Republic is surrounded by enemies, it is continuously being struck at by enemies both of the Sith variety, and those of the criminal elements which currently fill its halls. And while i would stand to lay down my life for it, i fully understand that your people see opportunity. That is why i wanted to look for some way in which to secure better relations in some form within the republic. I head a lesser faction within it, one that is interested in taking the fight internally to deal with the problems that plague our own people, but also to strike out at those that are beyond our borders in a fashion that is far more respectable of the name that we serve." He paused again to see if the man would understand before sighing and speaking his point.

"I would like to personally lend the hand of this internal faction to strike at a common enemy. While i cannot speak for the rest of my fellow Republic members, i hope that this will be the first step towards some form of repentance for the actions of our past."

He knew the man would probably laugh at the statement, he had already hear Keira's words the week before and this would be no different than what she had said. Mandalorians were warriors, not politicians but that was why he preferred to meet with these Mandalorians. Rarely did his people find themselves is fields of battle and war like they had been able to see in the ancient years of the past, those great names like Yusanis. Generals, warriors, and leaders, and that was why he felt comfortable with approaching this man, even as impossing as Ra was. This man was someone he understood more easily than those other senators he had to work with.

"Why now?"

Ra spoke plainly. There was no repenting for actions past. There was nothing the Galactic Republic could do to persuade Ra that they were the answer to any of the Mandalorian problems. No, for the most part, they were the cause. A weakness that the Mandalorians had succumb to, in years past. For too long the Mandalorians had stood side by side with the Republic, only to be bitten and chewed upon as if they were a parasite.

The Iron Wolf despised these people. But if there was some splinter of Republicans who could prove mutually beneficial to Ra, he wished to know it.

Not everyone was responsible for ignoring the Obroa-Skai Accords. Not everyone was responsible for allowing the Sith to run rampant.

Not everyone had turned their back on Mandalore. Perhaps these few, this man, hadn't.

"Why now?"

He paused and thought about that. The last time that he had heard of something like what the group which talked to him had suggested, it had been from the mouth of a woman of the Compact. She was fragile and the Republic still had a chance to correct it mistakes back then... but then the actions of one woman and the results that followed. Losses, pirate chancellors, and the harboring of a creature that was created through a viral outbreak that Alexander couldn't trust. The Republic harbored criminals, it put the lives of its military at risk to harbor those that serve no strategic purpose or even because the person is innocent.

But the Mandalorian walking with him was right. Why now, why would he speak with him, offer the hand of this group within the Republic that would see it change rather than see it completely tear itself apart... even if that meant splitting it at the seams themselves.

"I guess because the time has shown itself. Elections for a new supreme chancellor are coming up, and out of the prospects are a creature who has been absent from the Republic for years, an Imperial, and a woman who is... laughable in terms of governance, as well as my own name i put forth. I do not expect to win, the group behind me is not so numerous a minority to make that possible, but ive come to recognize none of those who are standing there could deal with the Galaxy in a stable and reliable manner. So that i why now, because if the ideals of the republic are to survive, and if we are to wipe clean the wrongs of our past, we must act this time or simply watch the very thing we bled for to recreate die. I hope you understand."

His hand finally returned to its place behind his back as he walked, his eyes not turning towards the Mandalorian as he had no reason to study the man beside him. He had done enough of that and understood the tip of who this person was, but nothing more and that was fine. One didn't need to study the person he talked to, unless he felt worried or sought to use that person. Alex was neither looking to do so or feel so.

"You say you hope I understand, but I do not," Ra growled. "You come to Mandalore out of desperation, as other Republicans have in so many times past. But you, like your brethren, only offer empty promises and broken trust. You speak to me of dealing with the Galaxy, but you can not even secure your own borders. Even now, I hear whispers of insurrection and open anarchy within the Galactic Republic. If you seek my help, you join a long line of politicians who would do so. Mandalore seeks no aid from the Republic, and Mandalore seeks to aid no Republican."

You could feel the heat from Ra's eyes.

"You want me to understand, but there is no understanding the Republic. Your nation is crumbling under the deeds of its past misgivings and must be allowed to wither. In this, and only this, will I allow you to aid me."

Ra began to leave, turning his back to Alexander and headed for the gate.

"Otherwise, we have nothing more to discuss."
