ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Strengths:
  • Old Faithful - Motherdrive stations are designed with a simple, sturdy layout, allowing them to last for years or even decades without faults, even through repeated battles.
  • Sector Authority - Long-range communications equipment combined with balanced armament and defensive capabilities allow Motherdrive vessels to effectively maintain order within a planet or small system.
Weaknesses:
  • Soft Core - Once a Motherdrive's shielding is disabled, its core is very vulnerable to assault, having no armament and very little armor to protect it.
  • Turtle - Designed to be a long-term installation, there are very few easy ways to move a Motherdrive defensive platform around. Additionally, Motherdrives lack hyperdrives, necessitating a vessel to tow them elsewhere if a certain front becomes heated.
Description: Recognizing that many of the Silver Jedi Order's defense platform designs were rapidly becoming outdated, Outer Rim Military Engineering decided to come up with a solution.

For the first time, the company pursued producing an orbital military space station. Its main goals would be to maintain order over a system or populous planet, and last for an extended period of time before upgrades or scrapping are required.

The basic layout of the Motherdrive station consists of an armored and armed outer ring surrounding a primarily residential core. Four enclosed bridges connect the two areas of the ship.

The outer ring consists of nearly all armaments and armor on the station, as well as its outlying hangar bays. It is in the outer ring where a majority of the station's power is held.

The inner core of the station contains bunks, the mess hall, the station's orbital thrusters, and the command bridge. From the core, operations within a system can be coordinated with ease.
