Moral Ethics, Personal Values & Diplomacy: Lesson One.

Moral Ethics, Personal Values & Diplomacy.

There are many different aspects to the life of a Jedi Knight, prospective warriors of the Force whom start out with nothing but the knowledge and training handed down from their elder peers and members of the Order. For Veiere Arenais, his life with the Jedi had begun at the mere age of five years old, like so many of the old times. Andina Torsyn had been his Jedi Mentor, and the one to teach him the importance of not only knowing how to wield a Lightsaber, but more importantly why to show restraint in doing so until all other means have been spent. Morals, Virtue and Integrity; these being every part true of a Knight of the Order, just as much so as the Force is their Ally.

'Moral Ethics, Personal Values & Diplomacy', one of the titles of Classes that Andina once taught to a likely group of students where Veiere had once sat among them at a desk similar to those of today's class-room. Each terminal with access to the Jedi Comport, a system created by House Arenais meant to connect every Temple, Enclave or facility of the Order with an Archive to one another in the pursuit and protection of knowledge relevant to the Keepers of the Peace.

Standing at the front of the room, Veiere Arenais awaited those who were to attend today's scheduled lesson with his hands behind is back, his Jedi Tunic sheltered beneath the Silver Mantle, a robe and symbol of the Order of the Silver Jedi.

It was time for Kat to really get into her training, while she was under Master Dragonsflame teachings, she decided it would be good to attend classes done by other Jedi Masters just so that she could learn as much about the Force as she could. It was still her weakest area in training but Kat was fine with it, just meant she had more room to grow. There had been some form of message board that posted a link to a class on morals and ethics, something about it appealed to Kat. Maybe because it was a place she could share her views and opinion on the Jedi way or just get a better understanding why it was the way it was.

Luckily, her sister Rose was around to deal with her niece now so Kat woke up and was able to get dressed in suitable clothes and be ready on time for the class. Walking into the room, Kat had her hair in a high bun with strands of hair framing the sides of her face. She was wearing loose cream top and a some shorts, she smiled as the weather was fairly warm so it was good to wear her late spring/summer clothes! Looking around, she was the first to arrive, which was unusual for the ever late Kat but she was glad to be on time today. "Hello Master Arenais, nice to meet you. Met your son before, he is a nice guy." Unsure what to say, she thought that be a good place to start.

Sigyn had signed up for this class for mostly one reason. The diplomacy and ethics were different in the rest of the galaxt than they were on Midvinter. Sure, you didn't go around killing everyone you saw if you wanted there, but if you were in a fight, you didn't hold back. Doing that could cost you your life. But she had learned and experienced that this was not the jedi way.

She arrived shortly after one of the few jedi she knew at the acadamey, Kat Decoria. It was nice to see a familiar face for this lesson. But the teacher was new to her. He seemed knowledgable and experienced, which was always a good thing. But the name Kat mentioned him by seemed familiar. arenais, where had she heard that before. It seemed familiar the the place she had met Kat, but she couldn't quite remeber who. "Good day, master," was all she said, before finding a Place to sit

Lori wasn't late for this one. Surprisingly. But she needed to learn it. Some of the subjects she probably already had been taught by her Dad already, but there were other aspects that she was sure to pick up on. Most especially diplomacy.

She had something that she needed to tell her Dad, but that'll come at a later time. Right now she had to focus on her schoolwork and prepare for the mountains of homework that was bound to arise from this. Lori licked the bottom of her lip as she glanced around to the other students. Too bad her brother wasn't around. It'd of been neat to be in a class with him again.

Lori logged in on her terminal so that she'd be able to take notes if she needed. The holographic display appeared and she recognized the emblem of her house. Once an Arenais, always an Arenais . She just didn't tend to share that knowledge with everyone.

Ura nervously walked into the room for her next class. Needless to say, she was kinda worried about the ethics class. She was from Yurb, a planet that wasn't know for being the most active in galactic events. A planet that was more about keeping itself from being enslaved again. But that wasn't the only issue. Ura herself wasn't good with people. She'd talk to the Masters just fine, but others that were "her age...?" It was just her Lervonian nature. She didn't really understand most people here, which didn't help things. Either way, she at least recognized some of the faces here, even if she didn't really know them.

She looked over at [member="Veiere Arenais"] as she took her seat, and spoke with her usual, monotone voice, though the Force around her would give away her nervousness. "Greetings, Master."

Veiere nodded to each of the four students whom entered into the classroom and found their desired seats, there didn't seem to be much an appetite for group lessons these days though out of the three scheduled classes, the four of them were the biggest showing where attendance was concerned. [member="Sigyn Vanir"] was the newcomer of today's lesson, where [member="Ura Iolar"], [member="Kat Decoria"] and [member="Loreena Arenais"] had attended a class or two of his just recently over the passed week.

"Greetings everyone" Veiere smiled from the head of the class-room, "Today's subject is Moral Ethics; an important class for any prospective Jedi in training" Veiere informed them. It was to be the first time holding this framework for the Silver Jedi on Kashyyyk, and so it seemed fitting that Veiere keep his first class somewhat straight forward. "Hopefully by now, each of you will know, experienced it yourselves or at the very least heard of the types of assignments we are given outside of the Silver Rest", the Silver Rest being the example, where otherwise he was suggesting the greater galaxy where ones academic home would otherwise keep them all sheltered from it's dangers.

"In order for us to properly contribute as a member of the Jedi, Moral Ethics is something that we must take with us, always" he explained, before posing the first question to the group; "Moral Ethics being...What exactly?" He grinned, looking to the four of them waiting for someone to find the courage to speak up.

"Crap crap crap crap crap." Sky muttered to herself rushing down the halls as she pulled on her Jedi robe, she barely wore the thing, especially if she was not actively doing Jedi stuff. And she'd only very recently even started. Hadn't even made her own proper lightsaber yet. She was ever so much further behind then anyone else almost certainly having grown up outside the Jedi Order for most of her life, the fact she was late only made it even worse. Sky stopped at the door as she entered, Crraaaap.

Definitely late, they'd already started. She walked through hiding her face behind the hood of the Jedi robe as she made her way to hide in a corner while. She might have been inclined to answer his question about what is moral ethics. But she was still hiding her face from the fact she'd shown up as late as she had. Even if it was only just after the class had started.

Ura looked at [member="Veiere Arenais"] , listened carefully. She was still nervous, but she had to learn this. Sure, she wasn't as well versed as others here on normal species' ethics, but that was kinda the point, right? Arenais had said that most would probably know by now what kind of missions the Jedi would go on, and that one of the important things was moral ethics. He then asked what these things were. Great. Ura's nerve seemed to sneak out through the Force, but she did finally raise her hand, and answer when she was acknowledged.

"The morals that guide our actions, Master."

Lori hadn't really heard of what assignments others here were given. She didn't exactly spend a lot of time around Jedi. Most of her time was spent either on her ship or with the Mandalorians in their sector of space. Of course there were rumours, but it wasn't as though she investigated to see which were true or not. She was too busy.

[member="Ura Iolar"] was the first to answer [member="Veiere Arenais"] , that is after [member="Sky"] came in late. Phew! At least she wasn't the only one that had a problem with tardiness! Ura's answer was a good one, at least in Lori's mind. Whether or not her Dad would think the same, they'd soon find out.

[member="Kat Decoria"] [member="Sigyn Vanir"]

'Moral ethics…' That was something Sigyn hadn't heard much about. The Valkyri had that too, of course, they just didn't talk about it. It was more of a thing they simply learnt early, mostly by watching how People behaved. 'I Guess it has something to do With right and wrong...' she thought.

Off the others present, only one had answered. It was a good answer for Sigyn's perspective. When it seemed no one else wanted to answer, she took a deep breath, and decided to speak up herself. She carefully raised her arm, and said. "Doesn't it also include what we feel is wrong and right in Our actions, master?" She felt herself blush a bit, but tried to hide it With her hair. She was certainly not used to speaking in situations like this, With so many People she didn't know around.

Veiere's attention was briefly caught by the arrival of [member="Sky"] who entered into the class a little later than the others, her arrival causing him to grin faintly, his left hand gesturing for her to move to take a seat alongside the others.

"The morals that guide our actions, Master",[member="Ura Iolar"] answered his question, causing Veiere to nod a little in confirmation. "Doesn't it also include what we feel is wrong and right in Our actions, master?" [member="Sigyn Vanir"] soon added, Veiere's smile growing some as he nodded to her too.

"You're both correct, yes" Veiere replied, glancing to [member="Loreena Arenais"] and [member="Kat Decoria"] a moment to gauge their attention and possible input before looking to further elaborate. "Moral Ethics are our guiding principles and virtues that encourage our actions and decisions through our belief of what is right and wrong" he gestured to Sigyn briefly to emphasize her point before moving forward; "For example, why we know that it's wrong to hurt someone. We know that it's ethically wrong, something that society as a whole believes to be unacceptable".

"So in essence, this class is about how we as Jedi behave and why we make the decisions and do the things we do in the Galaxy" Veiere spoke plainly for those before him to hopefully understand with ease; "Obviously Jedi don't go out and start fights, we don't like to hurt others. Why is this? And when you answer, please tell me why it is that you believe the way you do", this was a class about thinking. A Class that was meant to look into the behavior and attitudes of the Order.

Much of the discussion would be shared, and Veiere wanted his students to contribute, to show their understanding and beliefs as individuals raised and taught to think and feel in their own ways.

Sky listened to the others answers, they seemed good definitions to her. Though to be fair she wasn't sure what she'd give herself. And as the teachers spoke she listened, but, there was something he did mention that made her furrow her brow,
Veiere Arenais said:
"For example, why we know that it's wrong to hurt someone. We know that it's ethically wrong, something that society as a whole believes to be unacceptable".

But rather then interrupt she waited for him to finish and slowly raised her hand, "Um...I'm sorry, I have a question. You said earlier something is ethically wrong because society as a whole believes it wrong...but. Wouldn't that mean that it's entirely relative? So like, uh...there are species right, or planets, that do things other planets would call wrong, but on their's, it's totally normal." she paused and nearly jumped, "Right, like the Sith! You know in history, the species, they were naturally fighting amongst each other and I think they were all good with it, does that mean that killing for the sake of growth, specifically in their case, was ok? I mean, I don't think so...I just....don't want to hurt people, I wouldn't like it and I wouldn't wanna make someone else hurt either cause that hurts me to. But...what about the cultures like the Sith?"

She did technically answer the question as to why they didn't just go kill people, at least to her. Because to her, she wouldn't want to do something to someone else, that she wouldn't want being done to her. But she still was quite confused on the other matter, it was not a pompous question, just one from a child that wasn't sure.

[member="Sigyn Vanir"]
[member="Loreena Arenais"]
[member="Ura Iolar"]

"Sorry, you're right" Veiere laughed softly under his breath, "There are exceptions to the comment of course. Different cultures and peoples do have their own customs, I was merely making a generalization that most people agree that it's wrong to hurt others...-Not everyone believes the same thing, and peoples views will always differ. This is part of what it means to be an individual" he was impressed, [member="Sky"] was thinking with her head as he was hoping for in his students.

"This kind of thinking is important, and my next question will explore why we believe hurting others is wrong..." He smiled, "We'll follow up on your point, worry not!".

Kat looked around the class as people gave their answers and discussed their ideas. "Morality is based on society, the individual only has a morality that the society they live in tells them they should have. However, this isn't always the case, in terms of revolutions, this is when a minority have a differing view on the societal norms compared to the majority." She had remembered reading something along those lines when she had been in school on Eshan. "So slavery is common practice on some worlds and not on others. However, it use to be common practice on all worlds, before those being enslaved decided to switch what the morality and ethics of the society should be. As Jedi, we must understand that people view the world different to us and perhaps approach them in the respectful manner they expect, not the one we should." Kat had learnt that from her sister, Rose was a pro-diplomat and was teaching Kat the basics.

"Do we not go seeking fights? Our history shows that in the past we have. Someone called Revan lead the Jedi to fight the Mandalorians, they sought that war. Fighting the Sith, at times we have sought out the Sith to crush them. Even in more recent history, there have been more aggressive Jedi like a Coren Starchaser. Taking the fight to the Sith. As much as we claim to be peacekeepers, we do go towards the fight, Lightsabers in hand." Kat commented.

Lori listened quietly. Usually she was quite bold in her opinions, but today she couldn't quite bring herself to speak. At least not yet.

Some gave answers that she would have given. Did it mean that she should repeat them? Nah. Instead she just nodded in agreement. Had Lori ever hurt anyone? Sure! During tournaments, spars, and of course she had punched one guy in the nose after he had tried to convince her to surrender herself to the Sith. But he DESERVED it!

[member="Kat Decoria"] brought up war though. And that was entirely different than your typical day to day. Lori had killed other pilots during a space battle over Commenor. She was really upset over the potential loss of [member="Veiere Arenais"] when the Resolute was torn in half. But she only went after the enemy then, none of their friends or allies. So in a way, she was doing the right thing for the right reasons.

Right?....
