SETTING INFORMATION
- Astronomical Location Name: Nareth, also designated Moon 626
- Classification: Moon
- Location: Iego, one of the planet's thousand moons.
- Rotational Period: 24 hours
- Orbital Period: 365 days
- Size: Medium. The moon is a relatively large natural satellite with extensive landmasses, freshwater systems, and varied terrain.
- Affiliation: The Mahporeem Imperial Remnant has granted Zesiro private stewardship and local jurisdiction over the moon following its acquisition. Zesiro retains authority over residential development, access permissions, and the management of her property, provided she adheres to Imperial non-aggression regulations and applicable security agreements. The Imperial Remnant retains the right to establish a military installation on the moon should circumstances require it, although no permanent Imperial garrison is presently maintained there.
- Population: Insignificant. The moon has no established native sentient population or permanent civilian settlements. Its few residents consist primarily of Zesiro, her daughter Hannah, and a small number of household and maintenance personnel.
- Demographics: Predominantly human among the limited permanent residents, supplemented by various service and maintenance droids. Visitors may belong to any species, provided they have been granted permission to enter the property.
- Accessibility: Situated among the numerous moons orbiting Iego, the moon is relatively isolated and can be difficult to locate without accurate navigational coordinates. Access is restricted to Zesiro, her family, authorized personnel, and invited guests. Visiting vessels are expected to request landing clearance before entering the immediate vicinity of the private residence. Imperial authorities retain access rights under the terms of the agreement with Mahporeem.
- Description: Unlike many of Iego's barren and inhospitable satellites, this moon possesses a breathable atmosphere, a temperate climate, and a diverse natural environment. Expansive forests, rolling grasslands, freshwater lakes, and mountain ranges dominate its surface, creating an environment suitable for habitation without extensive artificial life-support systems.
The moon's relatively untouched condition was among its greatest attractions to Zesiro, who sought a permanent home rather than an industrial investment or another territory to govern. Having experienced the destruction of Kesh and years of uncertainty regarding her family's future, she wanted somewhere peaceful that could belong to her and Hannah.
Development remains deliberately limited. A private residence, modest support facilities, and a secluded landing area constitute the majority of its constructed infrastructure. Most of the moon remains wilderness, preserving the natural beauty and privacy that originally attracted its owner.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The Lakeside Residence
The principal structure on the moon is Zesiro's private home, constructed on elevated ground overlooking an expansive freshwater lake. Surrounded by forests and rolling hills, the residence combines comfortable living spaces with the conveniences expected of a modern galactic household. The home contains private quarters for Zesiro and Hannah, several guest suites, spacious communal areas, and recreational facilities. Large windows and outdoor terraces provide views of the surrounding landscape, while the building's design emphasizes comfort and openness rather than the imposing architecture commonly associated with Imperial estates.
Although substantial enough to accommodate visiting family and friends, the residence is not intended to function as a palace or governmental headquarters. It is first and foremost a family home.
The Great Lake
A large freshwater lake forms the centerpiece of the region surrounding Zesiro's residence. Fed by mountain streams and several rivers, its waters are generally clear and suitable for swimming, boating, and other recreational activities.Small beaches and sheltered coves can be found along its shoreline, while forested hills provide considerable privacy. The lake is also home to several species of native aquatic life, most of which pose little threat to visitors.
At night, reflections of Iego and the neighboring moons create particularly striking views across the water.
The Verdant Highlands
Beyond the lake, rolling hills gradually rise into extensive forested highlands and mountain ranges. Waterfalls, rocky overlooks, secluded valleys, and natural caves are scattered throughout the region.Much of this territory remains unexplored, offering opportunities for hiking, camping, and recreational exploration. Native wildlife inhabits the forests and mountains, and while the majority of species are relatively harmless, visitors are advised against venturing into unfamiliar wilderness without suitable preparations.
The highlands also provide natural isolation for the residential area, limiting casual observation from distant locations.
Private Landing Facility
A modest landing facility is situated a short distance from the main residence, connected by a maintained access route. The facility can accommodate several personal spacecraft and small transports, allowing family members and invited guests to arrive without requiring extensive spaceport infrastructure.A small hangar provides shelter and basic maintenance capabilities, while automated systems assist with refueling, cargo handling, and routine inspections.
Landing permissions are managed privately, with unauthorized vessels expected to remain clear of the residential area.
Household and Security Facilities
Several unobtrusive support structures are located near the residence and landing facility. These include power generation systems, water treatment equipment, storage areas, and maintenance workshops.A limited network of surveillance sensors monitors the immediate residential perimeter and designated approach corridors. Security measures are intended primarily to protect the household and provide advance notice of unexpected visitors rather than establish a heavily fortified military position.
A small number of security personnel and droids may be employed as needed, although Zesiro prefers to avoid the atmosphere of a permanent armed encampment.
The Untouched Wilderness
The overwhelming majority of the moon has been left undeveloped. Extensive forests, meadows, rivers, mountains, and isolated valleys remain largely undisturbed by sentient activity.Zesiro has no immediate plans to establish cities, industrial complexes, or large-scale resource extraction operations. While future development remains possible, the preservation of the moon's natural environment is an important part of its appeal.
The wilderness also provides considerable potential for future exploration, discoveries, and personal adventures without requiring the entire moon to be mapped or developed in advance.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Following the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant's acquisition of the Iego system, Imperial authorities found themselves responsible for an extraordinary collection of natural satellites. With approximately a thousand moons orbiting Iego, their environments, resources, and strategic value varied considerably. While some were suitable for military development, mining, or industrial expansion, others possessed relatively little immediate value to the Remnant's broader objectives.Rather than commit resources to developing every moon, Mahporeem elected to offer stewardship and developmental rights to interested parties under agreements that preserved certain Imperial interests.
Among the moons made available was a temperate satellite distinguished by its abundant freshwater, extensive forests, and relatively undisturbed landscape. Although habitable and naturally beautiful, it possessed little of the industrial infrastructure or established commercial activity sought by many prospective investors.
Zesiro, serving as Mahporeem's Head of Internal Affairs, learned of the opportunity through an announcement issued by High Command. Unlike the corporations and military contractors interested in mineral extraction or strategic installations, she had no desire to establish another center of industry or government.
Her interest was considerably more personal.
Years earlier, Zesiro had enjoyed a relatively stable family life on Kesh, where she had served as High Lady alongside her husband, Edric. The Bryn'adûl invasion devastated that world and left Edric missing, forcing Zesiro and her daughter Hannah to face an uncertain future. Although Zesiro eventually rebuilt her professional life and accepted a position within the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant, she had yet to establish another permanent home for her family.
The availability of an entire moon offered an unusual opportunity to change that.
Following negotiations with Imperial representatives, Zesiro acquired stewardship of the moon under terms permitting private residential development and local control, subject to the Remnant's existing security and non-aggression provisions.
Rather than embark upon extensive construction, she commissioned a secluded residence overlooking one of the moon's largest lakes, accompanied by the limited infrastructure necessary to support a comfortable household. The surrounding wilderness was deliberately preserved, and no permanent settlements or industrial installations were established.
The moon subsequently became a private retreat for Zesiro and Hannah, as well as a place where trusted friends and family members could visit without the obligations and scrutiny associated with their public lives.
Although its owner holds a senior position within the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant, the moon is not intended to serve as an administrative headquarters or official government residence. Its purpose is considerably simpler: to provide a peaceful home and a measure of permanence to a family that has spent years without either.
