Coruscant, Underbelly

Rayne was out on her usual scrap run. When you lived off of tinkering you constantly needed parts, and the young salvager was in desperate need of more. The underbelly, if you knew where to look, was full of all kinds of treasures to take apart and construct into something new. Broken down droids and decaying speeders littered the streets. For someone who lived off of garbage, there was never a bad day wandering the streets of Coruscant.

That didn't mean weird things never happened. Far from it. The Twi'lek was making her way through an alleyway, much like any other day, with a bag of scrap slung over her shoulder. Her haul today had been pretty good all things considered. A fresh vocoder she could manipulate to speak whenever she encountered someone who couldn't speak sign, a new chamber for her blaster. A lot of quality tech, stuff that Rayne intended on putting to immediate use. Of course, things began to get weird when a clanging noise echoed down the alley, emanating from a large sewer entrance that had been left unsealed. The air became cold, chills running down the young woman's spine. Something was wrong. She dropped her scrap and drew her pistol, slowly approaching the sewer entrance. The clanging grew louder, then suddenly.

A droid clambered out, falling to the ground.

No, not a droid. A man. Or both? It was a ghastly sight, metal interwoven with flesh making a hybrid of man and machine. An unnatural hybrid. The individual stood, letting out a snarl. Two more followed, and very quickly Rayne realized that she was in danger. The scrapper threw back her scrap and drew her pistol. They seemed mindless. Something was really wrong here.

She didn't exactly want to find out what it was.
