Mom Always Said

[member="Natalia Thawne"]

The combination of blade and blasted were enough to send the creature into a loud hissing fit. It screeched and roared, and then Jerick began to stab again and again, using the impact of Emma's blaster fire as a place to make it between the creatures scales.

The Hssiss screeched, tensed, and then suddenly fell to the floor with a loud crash.

The end of the fight was almost anti-climactic, the odd beast slumping down as though it had never actually been animated at all. Blood flowed from it's wounds and Jerick fell down off of the now dead beast, his chest rising and falling as his heart beat a mile a minute. His fingers felt numb and almost everything around him was dulled.

He looked at Emma, his expression nearly blank.

What the hell had that thing been? And more importantly what was waiting behind that door?

Emma voiced Jarick’s thoughts with an abrupt, “What the kark is that!?”
The young woman typically wasn’t the sort to be anything beyond bubbly and optimistic. She was always full of cheer. However, when having to deal with such a strange creature, her vulgar side came out with out impunity.
She took the few steps to look at the dead creature, it’s body still warm from life and now laying in a pool of its blood. Hssis were not the typical creatures the Coratanni dealt with. They were creatures of those Forcers. The ones who could do fancy tricks with their minds.
Her lips drew thin. Looking at Jarick, she asked with a softer tone, “You okay?”
They still had a mission to follow through.

"Yeah it's just a scratch." Jerick said as he looked down at his arms, his lips thinning for a moment as he watched the blood drip from his hand.

There was a lot of pain admittedly, but it was something he could ignore.

"What the hell is that thing?" He asked. "Some kind of Lizard? I've never seen anything like it."

That was saying something. Slevin and Natalia hadn't exactly skimped on the Thawne family education. They had a host of knowledge from all over the Galaxy, but a Hssiss? That was new even to Jerick. It was a monster, plain and simple. A Sith creation that he had never encountered, nor wanted to encounter again.

He frowned, then glanced at the door. "Let's just get this over with."

"We'll figure it out later." Emma replied. To be honest, she was more concerned about whether there were others also in these mines and if so, just how many there would be.

Turning to the leader of the Executioners, Emma gave a snap of her fingers, "Hey! Dawson." The tall, broad-shouldered native of Nar Shadaa quickly came to her side.

"Survey the tunnels, get into the rest of this mine. I want what we came for." glancing at Jerick, she also added, "Don't kill him. Bring him to us."

"My brother would like a little chat."

Jerick stretched his shoulders, leaning down and ripping off a part of his shirt to wrap the wounds on both of his hands.

The cuts were deep there, and he didn't really want to continue bleeding. He had no doubt that whoever was beyond that door still lingered, and he wasn't about to slip all over himself because of a few droplets of blood. He streched, cringing slightly as Emma yelled.

She didn't do that often. "Let's see whats on the other side of that door."

Without another word, just as the Executioners were following her orders, Jerick stepped forward and delivered a heavy kick to the center of the doors. There was a thud, and then suddenly the heavy wood went falling apart. On the other side they found...nothing, just two men standing there, one of them half huddled behind a long conference room table, the other standing stoicly over him.

For a moment Jerick just stared, bewildered.

Jerick was the first to see in. Emma, short as she was, came next. She held her blaster out, arm extended in preparation of anything. After what they'd just fought, Emma wasn't taking any chances. Blood still dripped from her arm and trickled down her fingers.

The sight that met her made her curl back her lip in mild annoyance.

"You have got to be kidding me." it was said with as chipper of a voice as one could expect from the Coratanni Bird. There they were. Two hutched bodies barely glancing over the table. No wait, one. The other was looking at them directly. Almost in a challenge.

That one is for Jerick.

"Get out of there." she began, motioning for the one huddling to get out from behind the table.

This was it?

Outside of their door they had a hungry ravenous beast out to eat them but here they just had two regular people? He frowned for a moment, lips thinning as he stepped forward right behind Emma. She carried the blaster of course, but Jerick had no intention of making this anything but extremely personal.

With a scowl and a quick hop to his step Jerick quickly outpaced his little sister.

The man that had been standing besides the sniveling crouched wretch seemed to recoil as soon as the Thawne approached him, but by the time Jerick crossed the room it was already too late. The young man broke out into half a sprint, his hands jutting out as he grabbed the man and pressed his foot forward. There was a loud crack as the man's knee suddenly snapped, his face pressing against the floor as Jerick brought him down onto the ground.

"Grab the other one Emma." He told her, the man beneath him letting out a scream.

"You fucking little runt!"

His curse earned him a snapped finger.

Emma wasn’t one to hold back after everything that had occurred. Her sharpshooter's eyes went tracing over towards the runner, no hesitation as she sent two shots down range. There was a gurgled cry of pain, then a stumble of arms and legs as the Mine Rep fell to his knees, clutching at his shin.
Taking steps forward, the young woman checked her power pack and purposefully brought her blaster down to send one more shot at his chest. However, not before she added with a joyful tune.
“The Coratanni sends their regards.”
Dramatic? Perhaps. But they had a job to complete. Jerick would have his fun with the screamer at his feet. This was to show their parents that they both had what it took to complete their missions.

Just a few seconds after Emma finished her target, Jerick leaned down and whispered something into the mans ear.

The crumpled and pathetic lump of a human being froze for a moment, his face turning into a visage of absolute horror. There was something satisfying about that expression, something that Jerick couldn't quite put into words no matter how much he tried.

"P-pleas-"

The begging was cut off with a sudden snap, as Jerick jerked the mans head back and broke his neck. A few seconds later the man fell onto the floor like a rag doll, his head thumping against the duracrete floor. For a few seconds the Thawne lingered, then slowly he pulled himself up. "The Executioners will secure the facility."

He told Emma.

"There should be a safe." He told her. "That will contain the deed."

That was why they were here after all, to take this place for the Cartel.

Emma gave her brother a curt nod of understanding. Tucking her blaster into her thigh holster, the petite Coratanni sniper began to search. There had to be a safe around here; either by the wall or hidden under a desk. If she had to bet anything it was easily accessible. These guys likely never thought someone would boldly come to bring the fight to them.

That mistake was their second one of the night. The first was daring to go against the Coratanni to begin with.

Emma scoured by the desk, drops of blood still dripping from her fingers. The trickle had slowed, but it was still an annoyance. Ducking down into a crouching position, she tested out a few drawers. The third largest didn’t give. A close inspection revealed it was hinged to the side. Ah-hah.

Without further ado, the girl gestured to the executioner closest to her. “Search then for any data key.” They found one a minute later inside a breast pocket. With self satisfaction, Emma used it to open it up. There, behind the panel was the safe. It was a biometric hand lock. With mild annoyance, the girl gestured to drag the closest one to her. Thankfully, his hand wasn’t covered in blood. The scan was clean and in two seconds a beep and green light gave them access.

Inside was more than just a deed. There was also a few bars of ignots. They were clear. Unknowingly, aurodium. A bag of precious corseca gems and the details of a curious mine.

But for now, Emma held up a sheet of filmsi that would make Jericks night. What he came here to prove himself with. The deed.

“Good job.” She told him. His stunning bloody grin made the hapan teenagers face glow. Emma couldn’t help but mirror that.
