Work In Progress Mokk IX

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To develop Mokk IX as a neutral, isolationist city-planet refuge and trade enclave emerging from centuries of seclusion. The planet will serve as a roleplay hub for diplomacy, intelligence operations, corporate negotiation, and cautious foreign contact following the collapse of the Galactic Alliance.

  • System Name: Mokk System
  • System Features:
    • Single yellow main-sequence star (Mokk Prime)
    • Nine planetary bodies (Mokk IX is the outer habitable world)
    • Sparse asteroid debris field between inner gas giants
  • Location: System is already on the map

    • High-grade urban technology and infrastructure systems
    • Information brokerage and encrypted communications services
  • Unexploited Resources:
    • Deep crust mineral deposits (largely untapped due to urbanization)
    • Limited geothermal energy reserves beneath the planetary crust
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Standard
  • Climate: Controlled (planet-wide environmental regulation)
  • Primary Terrain: Artificial, Urban, Subsurface Infrastructure
  • Atmosphere: Type I
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Mokk Prime (planet-spanning megacity)
  • Planetary Features: Mokk IX is effectively a city-planet, its natural surface long since covered by layered urban development. Massive climate regulators maintain stable weather patterns. Beneath the upper city lie multiple sub-levels, including infrastructure corridors, industrial zones, secure vault complexes, and restricted government sectors. The planet is overwhelmingly Urban.
  • Major Locations:
    • The Central Exchange – Interstellar financial district housing banking guilds, trade arbitration courts, and secure transaction networks.
    • Alliance Quarter – Newly reopened diplomatic district where foreign embassies and trade missions may establish guarded compounds.
    • The Vault Rings – Orbital and subterranean high-security data and asset storage facilities.
    • The Lower Strata – Older city layers housing industrial sectors, maintenance populations, and black-market elements.
    • Skyshield Network – Planetwide shield grid and defense control centers integrated into the upper city.
  • Force Nexus (Optional): N/A

POPULATION
  • Native Species: Humans
  • Immigrated Species: Various (Duros, Bothans, Sullustans, Twi'leks, and other commercial species)
  • Population: Crowded – approx. 9-11 billion
  • Demographics: Predominantly Human (≈70%). Second most dominant species being Devaronian who are prominent among the working class. There is also a significant "alien" commercial and diplomatic populations. Historically selective immigration policies favored skilled professionals, financiers, and technical specialists.
  • Primary Languages:
    • Galactic Basic
    • Devaronian
    • Trade languages common among merchant species
  • Culture: Mokkan culture values privacy, stability, contracts, and discretion. Society is orderly and efficiency-driven. Public life emphasizes business, data security, and professional reputation. Entertainment and arts exist but tend toward refined, controlled environments rather than flamboyant public culture. Neutrality and non-interference are core social values.

  • Affiliation: Independent / Neutral World
  • Wealth: Wealthy. Mokk IX's economy is based on finance, secure data services, arbitration, and infrastructure technology.
  • Stability: High. The population is orderly and risk-averse. However, the post–Galactic Alliance era has introduced external uncertainty, prompting cautious foreign engagement.
  • Freedom & Oppression: Citizens enjoy economic freedom and high living standards, but surveillance and regulatory oversight are extensive. Privacy is protected externally but monitored internally to maintain stability. Unauthorized weapons, large gatherings, and unsanctioned political movements are restricted.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: Primarily defensive.
    • Planetary shield grid (Skyshield Network)
    • Orbital defense platforms
    • System patrol fleet (corvette to frigate class)
    • Security-focused ground forces
Security are mostly made up of droids. Doctrine emphasizes deterrence and denial, not power projection.
  • Technology: Above Galactic Standard in:
    • Data security
    • Urban systems engineering
    • Financial and communications encryption
      Otherwise Galactic Standard
    HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Mokk IX was uninhabited wastelands in Inner Rim. It was initially settled as an Imperial labor camp. After the fall of Palpatine's New Order, Mokk IX became independent with the former labors starting to build upon what the Empire had left behind.

Over centuries, continuous urban expansion transformed the planet into a full ecumenopolis. As galactic conflicts intensified during successive wars, Mokk IX adopted increasingly strict neutrality policies, investing heavily in planetary defenses, independent economic systems, and closed-border protocols.

During the era of the Galactic Alliance, Mokk IX maintained limited but stable economic relations while avoiding formal political entanglement. The world's leadership prioritized continuity of services over ideological alignment.

The collapse of the Galactic Alliance and subsequent regional instability forced a strategic reassessment. Recognizing the risks of isolation in a fragmented galaxy, the Mokkan Directorate initiated the Recontact Initiative (c. 902 ABY), reopening limited diplomatic channels, establishing the Alliance Quarter, and seeking carefully structured trade and mutual security agreements.

Despite reopening, Mokk IX remains cautious, committed to neutrality, defensive strength, and controlled engagement with outside powers.
