DESCRIPTION
The Model LS-I ,or Life Saver 1, is a compact personal sidearm developed by Rikard Tetalar over the course of his Galactic travels. It is a six-shot, single-action, slugthrower revolver with three firing features. Comprised mostly of durasteel, with blaster components augmenting certain aspects, the weapon is divided into three main areas. The Grip, the cylinder, and the barrel. Despite, however, being referred to as different regions on the weapon the chassis is singularly forged.

The grip is vertical in orientation and hollow by design. It extends upward and ends at the base of the hammer housing. It's main purpose can be garnered by it's name, the holding of the weapon. It's secondary function is to serve as housing for the energy cell, and to designate firing modes. The bottom of the grip retracts, allowing for expeditious replacement of energy cells. Located in a thumb-able position on the left-hand side of the grip is a designation switch that changes the weapon's firing modes.

The cylinder maintains it's basic slugthrower design with no actual augmentation. It's sole purpose being the housing of metal-slugs to be fired at the user's will. Two firing modes make use of the metal-slugs housed in the cylinder, while one does not. The cylinder can be removed and placed with another of it's design for quick reloading, but is typically kept in place and reloaded manually.

The barrel of the weapon features heavy augmentation via the use of blaster components. It boasts a dual fire design, with an upper barrel firing metal-slugs and a lower portion discharging blaster bolts. The lower portion of the barrel features marking technology which, if in the correct firing mode, envelops a metal-slug in a shroud of energized particles.

This weapon arose out of necessity rather than want. Wanting a versatile means of defense, both from other sentient species and dangerous fauna, he opted into purchasing a slugthrower. It was not until faced with actually killing another sentient being that Rikard felt to full weight of such a choice. To rectify that hesitation he began experimenting with different ways to incapacitate aggressors. His decision led him to the use of tasers. His faith fully invested in them until they too fell short, this time lacking the power to stop a dangerous animal.

A bit thought and creative problem solving led to the creation of the LS-I. Contracting out to a weapon-smith the firearm would go on to surpass Rikard's wildest expectations. It's three-prong firing design giving it the adaptability to match Rikard's ever changing environments.

Like a normal slugthrower, the LS-I is capable of firing standard metal slugs of a .48 caliber round. This giving the weapon the much needed stopping power Rikard lacked when facing hostile beasts. The toggle-switch on the grip, however, allows the weapon to switch to a secondary firing mode. In this mode the weapon fires low-impact blaster charges meant to stun, not maim or kill. This way the wielder of the weapon can dispatch sentient foes non-lethally if such matches their preference. A final tertiary firing mode combines the first two, allowing the weapon to fire energy enveloped slugs. Increasing their overall power and armor penetration.

Strengths:
  • Multi-Purpose: The multiple firing modes give the weapon a great deal of adaptability, making it ideal for many situations.
  • Stopping Power: The weapon possess a moderate degree of fire-power, giving it enough punch to pierce light-armor.
  • Speed Loading: The weapon possesses both a changeable cylinder and electable energy cell, making it possible to reload at haste.
Weaknesses:
  • Low Capacity: The LS-I holds fewer rounds than most traditional slugthrowers, and far fewer than traditional blasters.
  • Inaccurate: The compact design forced a stunting of the barrel, making the weapon less accurate. Doubly so when firing slugs.
  • No Modularity: The weapon allows for no infringement upon it's design, making it impossible to customize without compromising it's systems.
