Description: Considering most fighting on a ship is dealt in close-quarters, Domino elected to invest serious time and energies into the development of a brutal combat knife centered around brawling. Already a versatile weapon, the trench knife is double bladed and excellent for slashing or stabbing. The addition of a knuckle-duster allows for less lethal blows and punching in confined spaces. A skull-crusher on the base of the hilt can be used for breaking glass or a downward hammer strike to break an opponent's skull, and like other bladed weapons she's worked on, a nock between the blade and guard provides an excellent catch to other melee weapons when blocking a strike.

The idea of the knife first germinated when Matsu showed off and described her Omnibreaker to Domino. She observed it under use on the molecular level using Art of the Small and even handled it herself before returning the blade. The Jedi used ultra-sonic vibrations and near-molecular oscillation to separate molecules from one another, Domino's take on the breaker was more simplistic. Make a knife so sharp its blade ended just a few molecules thick, ramp up its cutting power by making it a vibroknife, and slap some basic alchemy on to prevent breaking or dulling of the blade & protect it from lightsabers. Against armor and blades, it's as effective as Matsu's Omnibreaker, tearing through them as if they were an aluminium can (within the bounds of PC permission and fair play rules).

Unfortunately, such a design carries several inherent drawbacks. Firstly, the necessity of having all of one's fingers properly through the holes of the duster can make it difficult to hold properly on a fast draw without extensive training. The same guard also makes it near impossible to reverse a hold one-handed and the blade along the back strap prevents bracing with the thumb or off-hand save at the very end of the tip where it flattens out along the back into a heavy point. Also, Domino's alchemy was spread out over so many knives at once and used less pure methods than a true Sith sword would, resulting in none of the usual dark-side affinity or associated benefits such as blaster deflection or the ability to attract and store force lightning and would never help focus or amplify a user's control or connection to the Force.

  • Please list the dev thread by name, [x] or here is no longer permissible by factory rules.
Would you mind also clarifying more exactly what the alchemy is providing to this knife? What kind of protection does it offer the edge as well as the rest of the weapon?

Changed dev thread listing as asked and rewrote a bit of the second to last line of the second paragraph.
"basic alchemy on to prevent breaking or dulling of the blade & protect it from lightsabers."
