Casi was wandering around the zoo aimlessly. She stopped a few times to look at some animals but when she saw the young with their parents it made her tear up. She had convinced her aunt to take her to Naboo to see her parents. The first day they had spent most of it at the hospital, just sitting in the room where her mom and dad were still in comas. The doctors had no news and Casi was starting to wonder if there was something the adults weren't telling her. Was her parents condition worse than anybody had let on? The little girl couldn't take it but she also did not want to leave. She was worried her aunt would get called back to the Jedi and they would have to cut the visit short, like they had last time and the time before that.

Naturally her aunt got the call.

Fate had favored Casi however because when the call did come through, her aunt had decided to let Casi stay. The padawan couldn't believe her luck. She was in a motel near the hospital and was allowed to stay by herself until her aunt came back. The rules were she was allowed to go to the hospital, and back. She had food at home and her aunt had left her credits in case.

Of course Casi was well aware she was breaking the rules by being at the zoo but it was incredibly boring to just sit around a motel all day. Not that the zoo was keeping her very entertained. Finally she settled down at the cafe with a milkshake. She was in poor spirits as she watched all the families around her, enjoying the nice day on Naboo.

NABOO ZOO

Persephone was 'alone' as much as one could possibly be alone, just with Thirty-Seven, Makky's protocol droid. Ever since several issues that had gone, completely out of her control mind you, she was only allowed to travel on private shuttles with trusted pilots from Arceneau Trade, with a bodyguard. Her last bodyguard, Noah Corek Jr. , was just an annoyance. At least Thirty-Seven could be quiet.

She was on planet to take notes and gather fabric swatches from suppliers for her upcoming intership. It had everything to do with fashion and she got to meet up half-way with Iko Vel , so in her eyes it had been a win-win assignment.

Having a little bit of free time, Persie decided to go to the zoo. She had seen tons of species - sentient species - when she lived on Taris. Yet animals were somethin' different. Much of the shoppin' on Naboo was a little stuffy, so at least this was a good alternative. It gave her the chance to walk around and eat entirely unhealthy snacks at the very least.

Grabbing an iced caf, Persie thought she looked effortlessly fashionable and casual today, and debated on making a ZikZok or two while at the zoo. Could be something fun to do. Then eyes caught sight of someone just sitting on a bench, relaxing at the cafe under the umbrellas. Eyes narrowed.

"Casi! Hey Casi! Watcha doin' here?"

If it wasn't Casaline Ryiah ?Mortifyin'.

When Casi heard her name she looked up from the milkshake she had hardly touched. She did a double take and couldn’t believe her eyes. It was Persie! Casi had wondered if she would ever see the girl again.

“Persie? Oh my gosh hi! “

This was the first exciting thing to happen all day and Casi felt her spirits lift a little. She slid off her chair and walked over to the other girl, completely forgetting her milkshake, much to the annoyance of the server droid who had to clean her table.

“I am visiting some people here.” She swallowed hard but didn’t really want to go into the depressing hospital situation so instead she turned the question around.

“What are you doing here anyway?”

Uncharacteristically, Persie pulled Casaline Ryiah into a brief hug, all while balancing her iced caf. No way she was setting that down! Plus she was getting pretty good at balancing these things.

"Wells, I had to get some fabric swatches and do some other stuff...I was goin' to shop but its very stuffy in the boutiques here. Like um...too rich you know? Like all stuff for bored housewives, an' that ain't me. Not much of a young vibe, althoughs I could be lookin' in the wrong spots. It ain't a big deal."

Naboo fashion didn't seem to be her thing, and that was perfectly fine.

"So I came to the Zoo to just eat a bunch of snacks. Which...so far...great decision. So's you visitin' some folks here? Anyone I can meet? Or is yous keepin' them under wraps?"

Immediately, Persie thought she was either visting her Aunt or had some kind of boy around she was embarrassed to show off.Although if it was a boy, funny he wasn't at the Zoo with her.

Casi was surprised when Persie pulled her into a hug but it was actually really nice. Did this mean they were friends now? Casi had told her aunt she would try to make friends but of course that was at the Jedi Temple. What Persie was up to sounded so much more fun than Jedi stuff.

“Oh fabric swatches sound really fun! There are some less snobby places outside of Theed. A lot of stuff here is more stuffy but there are some surrounding mountain villages that have newer trends. You would think Theed would get fashion first but I think a lot of people try to cling to old styles around here. I can show you if you want?”

Casi had grown up on Naboo so she knew some of the good places. Of course that had been a long time ago. She wondered if things were different now that she woke up from hibernation.

The conversation turned to her parents and she frowned slightly and felt herself blush. She wasn’t sure why she was embarrassed suddenly but it just seemed weird to have parents lying as though dead.

“Oh umm I am visiting my parents but.. they.. they are in the hospital so probably not … up for a visit you know?”

That and they weren’t even conscious.

"Right? I thought comin' here I'd see some real interestin' stuff. Just be inspired or somethin' even. I wonder who's gonna be the major fashion player if Coruscant gets attacked. Maybe Alderaan..."

The potential of Coruscant being attacked had been dinnertime conversation of late at the Arceneau-Dashiell household. The capital of the Galactic Alliance had been moved to Fondor, so technically, perhaps they would emerge as a major player in fashion. Or not. War had the tendency to stifle creativity and frivolous things such as fashion.

"Oh, yous don't hafta. I mean, you came'ta the zoo to do....zoo stuff...so that's what we can do. Besides, I'm still eatin' my way 'round the exhibits."

Brows furrowed, didn't Casaline Ryiah state her parents were on the hospital last time? She was concerned. Maybe they were doin' some type of rehabilitation. Or they were super-sick.

"Oh. I'm sorry to hears that. I'll send 'em some flowers. If you need somethin' let me know. I think you have my comm information."

"Thank you." Casi felt her cheeks flush a little and pushed her short hair behind her ear. Despite the slight awkwardness with her parents this was still the most fun she'd had in a while on Naboo. She actually couldn't remember the last time she went to the zoo. She did indeed have Persies comm information but hadn't ever though she would see the girl again so she hadn't thought to send any messages.

She looked around the zoo and felt open to possibilities. Why did she never feel like this at the Temple? Was the Jedi life not for her?

"What should we start with? Porgs? Soft Pretzels? Popcorn?"

Casaline Ryiah

Taking a sip of her iced caf, Persie wasn't sure how to respond. She didn't know a single thing about animals. Loth-cats were about it, and that was only cause Makky had a loth-cat as a pet. Oh, and raycons, she saw the banded little creatures at the courtship festival, almost getting one for herself but thought otherwise.

Yep, that was the extent of her knowledge on animals.

"Whatsa porg?"

Was that animal or food? Technically was probably both. Living on Taris taught her almost any little creature could be eaten by somebody.

"You's lead the way. I'm just here to hang out an' all."

"It's like a fat bird. They have them in the bird house. Come on."

The two girls started to twist and turn through the zoo. The bird exhibit wasn't that far away. It was next to a popcorn stand that sold all kinds of salted, caramel, dipped, and otherwise delicious types of popcorn. They had to go inside a door to get to the bird exhibit because it was a room that was all netted off so the birds could not escape when they flew. Actually now that she thought about it she wasn't even sure if porgs could fly.

There were many different areas of netting with birds. You could walk around while they flew right over your head.

"I'm not sure if Porgs can fly come to think of it..." She was looking up to see if she spotted one.

NABOO ZOO

As if on Casaline Ryiah 's cue, one of the fat little porgs comically flew, just not far or fast. It was amusing to see and Persephone wondered how these creatures had survived and not been eaten in the wild, wiped out. Whatever planet they are on, it was clearly one where a lot of predators were not allowed. That or there were just tons of them.

Since there was no food or drink, Persie had downed her iced caf before coming in, head now craned up towards the trees and vegetation they had brought in for all the birds. There were loads of them, all different colors and shapes.

"We should grab some popcorn after. I imagine if theys let us bring it in, we'd be attacked by birds."

Casi giggled as a fat porg tried its best to fly. It looked like it was too heavy to be in the air but it was trying its best. All around them were birds of every color and she watched them all flying around as they made their way through the exhibit.

"I bet the porgs would run us down for our popcorn. It looks like they love to eat" She laughed as they reached the exit and headed straight over to the popcorn vendor. There were a ton of selections and only a short line, which was nice. Casi got some popcorn that had chocolate drizzle on it.

"Have you ever been to the zoo before?"

"Yeah, I bet the porgs would move super-quick if we's had some good for 'em."

Head was craned up the entire time she walked, trying to get in as many birds as possible. There were so many colors, shapes, and sizes of the creatures, from the fat little Porgs to majestic bioluminescent lantern birds, pink and skinny. It was certainly the most she had ever seen in her entire life in one spot, emerging out the otherside to grab some caramel corn.

"Nope, no zoos. Ain't really no creatures where I used'ta live. Rats....bats...bugs...uh....other stuffs like that. How about you?"

"We used to go to the zoo a lot when I was a kid. Back before when I was born. It's changed a lot over the years."

Casi wasn't sure that she had ever told Persie that she had been frozen in carbonite and was way older than she looked. The girl didn't feel old at all. Most of her life she'd been asleep!

"I used to like to come here with my parents. My mom and dad would always take me on the carousel ride."

As far as Persephone knew, Casaline Ryiah 's parents were in the hospital sick. That was what she had told her back on Centrality, that she had to stay with her Jedi investigator Aunt. Which Persie had understood completely, she had come to live with Makky and was thrust into the life she had now. For the better, of course.

"What can change in a zoo?" She as musing mostly out loud, not expecting a real answer. "Care-o-sell?"

Persephone sounded out the word, very foreign to her. She had no idea what it was. Apparently Cassie said one rode it. Wait...was it an animal? Knowing her folks were sick, she ventured an offer.

"We can ride the care-o-sell..."

She prayed it wasn't a big,smelly animal.

"Some of the animals were different and some of the exhibits were moved over. The layout and stuff."

They were walking now, passing by a few cages here and there and more street vendors. When Persie mentioned they could ride the carousal she pointed up to where the circle ride was. There were all different types of toys and fake animals to ride on, all with poles sticking out of them.

"Thats it! It used to be green but looks like its red now."

Persie looked at the care-o-sell, curious that one rode on this thing. How? There was a pole and various little creatures to ride...yet it didn't take long to get her answer, the ride starting up. There was weird but lively music, most of the animals moved up and down as the ride spun like a little top. Popular with little kids but folks of all ages were clamoring to get aboard and enjoy a spin.

"We should get in line and ride, 'specially if you used'ta like doin' it. Come on!"

"Okay lets do it!"

She grabbed the other girls hand and together they got in line. The ride wasn't very long and a seemingly three minutes latter they were let on to find what animals they wanted to ride. There were rancors, speeders, krayt dragons, and banthas, along with a whole lot of other animals. Casi jumped on the tauntaun and buckled the little seat belt provided.

"They want to make sure the little kids don't fall off."

Persie picked a mystical, magical pink-and-teal cartoony looking krayt dragon to ride. Girly and deadly, just how she liked to think of herself. Only she didn't buckle herself in because really, she wasn't a little kid anymore.

There was a small waiting period for all the riders to get on and settle, before the care-o-sell started. Once it did, Persie was immediately surprised how fun it actually was. From the outside it had looked lame but as the ride picked up speed and the krayt dragon went up and down she found it really cool.

"Wow, okay...not as lame as I thought."

Oh this brought back memories. She could remember her dad standing next to her, making sure she didn't fall. Every single time they came she'd ask to ride and he would go get tokens for them. She'd always try to pick the same animal and he'd tease her asking if she ever wanted to ride anything else. Man she missed him.

She laughed as Persie admitted it wasn't lame.

"It's a lot better when you are a kid but its still fun. What do you want to do now? Or do you need to get going? I feel bad taking up your whole day like this."

"I don't have any plans until tonight when I leave."

Persephone was walking aimlessly. Again, this was all new to her. It was okay too...perhaps if she had started to come as a small child or knew more about animals it would seem exciting. It was very interesting and she was enjoying herself, yet, she didn't see the appeal.Maybe in time or once she had experienced more of the zoo itself.

"No idea. Just drag me along like you be takin' anyone else along."
