Private Miscalculation

The Jedi Archives,

If Ren's agenda didn't call for complete and utter detachment she might've bought into the atmosphere of the place. Perhaps even grappled with the thought of her lone insignificance in the face of eons upon eons of knowledge, or whatever philosophical bull-chit the Jedi got up to.

But self-reflection was decidedly beneath her at the moment.

With the practiced ease of any low-life with nefarious intent, the girl slinked her way through the labyrinth, stripped of any tell-tale signs of the underworld as she scanned the space cirictally. Sneaking into the Jedi Temple of all places was admittedly beyond her typical scope of operation. But desperate times call for desperate, often miscalculated measures. And being one to give into self-destructive habits on the regular, she couldn't bring herself to pass up the job offer as it was dished out.

After all, how hard would stealing some small-scale relic really prove to be? From the looks of it, the Archives were already in serious need of some deep-cleaning.

"The more expensive relics are in the vault, but if you check the west wing near the back they have a couple that'll sell well on display. The ones high off the ground aren't even alarmed. People getting that high up are easy to pick out on the cameras and, well, usually it's only Jedi who can jump." She'd felt it in passing. Or, more accurately, saw it. Dim, almost dark colors. Ill intent. Thievery, if she had to guess. And guess she did.

Iris hung by one of the shelves, idly perusing through a datapad as if she got it from a shelf. Really she was just waiting to see if there were any hits on Ren's face and trying to hold the girl up. It was a hunch, but her hunches rarely ever proved wrong. And if nothing turned up, well.

No harm no fowl.

"Unless you're after something specific? I can always give you directions."

Well- the solitary was sure nice while it lasted.

Fighting a heave of frustration, the girl was quick to reel in any immediate reaction. She wouldn't allow Iris the satisfaction of having caught her guard so effortlessly. Not if she could help it. Dignity was already in short supply as it was. Steeling herself, she regarded the women with apt caution. She'd certainly taken an interesting approach towards the subject of grand larceny. Studying her body language for the faintest indicator of attack, all she could scrounge up was an aura of indifference.

"Unless you're after something specific? I can always give you directions."

Before she could formulate a wiser response, her natural reflex for snark won out, "Nah you look busy-" Delivery flat, her eyes fell to the datapad secure in Iris's hand in emphasis. However she tried to pass it off, Ren could speculate its underlying use with plenty accuracy. Masking with an iron-clad expression of defense, she scrambled for a course of action within the confines of her mind. At the present moment, stalling seemed like an attractive enough option, "Find anything damning? Or are you gonna cut the bull-chit?"

"There's two wars going on, I'm always busy."

Iris cast a glance up, briefly to meet Ren's gaze. Then glance around her. Studying something that only seemed to be there in her eyes. The colors of emotion, intent, all dying the Force various shades. She held back a laugh, though.

"Not yet. Should I expect to find something damning though?"
