TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
SPECIAL FEATURES

[*]Navigation:

[*]Defenses:

Strengths:
  • Heavy point-defense
  • Can land on planets
  • High resistance to slicing; it can also lock down systems if the ship is captured due to the droid brain nodes of the ship-wide neural net
Weaknesses:
  • Repulsorlift generator failures must be repaired in orbit
  • Point-defense missile banks have limited ammunition
  • Well-placed shots at the hangars can gut the ship by virtue of housing the starfighters' fuel reserves and ordnance
  • Exposed long-range turrets
Description: The Mirial-class escort cruiser was mostly a redesign of the weapons suite of the older Lothal-class, whereby the heaviest hardpoints were removed for lighter hardpoints distributed all across the ship, while retaining most of the other features of the original Lothal-class and even Rasta Sub-class, such as the ability to land on planets. As a result, the two dorsal turrets containing Scarif and Toprawa heavy long-range turbolasers were just swapped, with the heavy LR ion cannons being aft and the heavy LR turbolasers being forward. In addition, to maintain the ability to fight off attack craft that wander too close, regardless of their speed, several point-defense missile banks have been installed, on top of the numerous point-defense emplacements. Also, vernier thrusters have been installed on the ship's flanks, allowing for more maneuverability compared to the original ships. Also, with the use of several cybersecurity suites, such as the ship-wide neural net, allowing for defensive redundancies against slicing and for system lockdown in case of capture, and the use of the Cresh operating system.

When mission profiles call for fighter usage, two squadrons are housed in two lateral hangars, housing one squadron each. However, this design is not without its flaws: a stray attack craft or corvette that can close range and fire at one of the two lateral hangars could potentially gut the ship by firing into the hangar by virtue of housing the starfighter complement's fuel reserves and ordnance. Also, the long-range weapons turrets are exposed: one well-placed turbolaser shot or mass driver projectile can take out the heavy turrets and deprive the ship of its long-range firepower.
