Shard Caverns

At first the readings were consistent; Shard naturally emitted electromagnetic signals that could be detected at great distances, at least when they were close together. But when the ground started shaking and the readings spiked, it was clear something was going on.

The cavern was similar to the habitats of most Shard colonies. The cave lead a few meters down at the base of a hill into an underground hot spring. The steam from the spring escaped up through a number of small fissures. Around the spring was the green-glowing Shard colony -- this colony appeared larger than most. Yet, the edges of the colony seemed damaged; the Shard there lacked the same glow, and some were cracked or shattered.

Of course, the more unnatural thing was the humanoid figure at the centre of the cavernous chamber. The grey-clad man had waded into the steaming waters. The cool transparisteel of his helmet was wet with condensation, but the inside was dark, opaque, impossible to tell who was within.

The man was reaching out towards the colony. The ground shook again; ripples emanating from the man and the Shard clashed in the middle of the spring.

For whatever reason, you've stumbled into a cavern with a Shard colony and some guy locked in a mental battle that's spilling out into the physical realm. There's rancid vibes. Do what you want -- interfere in the fight? Pee on the dude's cloak? Something else? Up to you.

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
in their search for resources, the Lilaste order had begun ventures just about anywhere along the galaxy, from discarded and forgotten mining facilities to following rumors of resource-rich worlds. the majority of these endeavors were futile and left them with less hope and fuel than they started with. and so the expeditionary team sent to investigate strange readings, Laphisto, and around nine Lilaste Soldiers landed on the planet's surface. When the shuttle first touched off, the team was surprised when the ground shook, causing a few to lose their balance and fall

"Steady yourselves, Sargeant. What do you have for readings? Where are we heading?" regaining his composure and standing upright again, his gaze flicked to the soldier nearest to him. "About five hundred meters south towards the cave entrance, sir." looking at the direction they pointed, laphisto squinted softly, unable to make out the entrance they spoke of, his vision blurred from years of being locked in Carbonite. " come then let us get moving."

as the team began to descend into the cave, they were all surprised to find a bunch of glowing rocks and a single man standing in the center arm outstretched. the first thing Laphisto did was look through the force, a small flash of blue rolling over his eyes as he peered at both the man and the crystals through the force to get a feel of their alignment

The two beings locked in battle were intertwined, like a roiling mass of conflict that was difficult to parse. Further still, the glimpse into the nature of the man revealed he was not unlike the Shard; he was a fragment, a small piece compared to the vastness of the colony, and yet his strength seemed to match it. He was a wayward crystal lost to his family.

The divide was not so clean-cut as dark and light, but the fragment drew far more from the former. Bundled in that metal battlesuit was a thousand years of hatred; against it was the collective's will to survive, to destroy their attacker, and who would do so by any means necessary.

Sorry, fell off the face of the earth doing my exams and only ended up doing a few other posts. I was not yet prepared to look into the eyes of God. Forgive the delay.
