OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create the organization for Millennium and my own character, especially for the purpose of factory submissions
  • Image Credit: Myself (with Google Drawings)

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: Millennium
  • Classification: Mega-Corporatocracy
  • Affiliation: Operates within The Diarchy, The Lilaste Order; Owned by CEO H. Edwards
  • Organization Symbol:

  • Description: Initially a cryogenics research company on the moon of Meu I, over time Millennium began to integrate other industries, and even the moon's government itself. It now does all manners of things, from research to managing a rather optimistic military. Millennium has only recently been introduced to the galaxy at large, and therefore lag behind on not only technology, but also history, strategy, and tactics. Whether economic, political or military, Millennium has made recent advances in an attempt to hyper-accelerate themselves into relevance.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Millennium Space Station orbiting Meu I
  • Domain: Millennium owns and has de facto control over the entire moon of Meu I. After the moon's full scale civil war, Millennium came out the victor. They immediately seized as much power as was possible setting up a sort of puppet government where the CEO is also the President of the moon. Millennium thus enacts laws, policies and regulations for the entire society, and competing corporations are disallowed. The population, despite the semi-despotic rule, is mostly unbothered. Millennium provides most with well-paying jobs for they skills they have, and most believe Millennium is relatively lax when it comes to people's personal lives; though the corporate culture is another beast all together.
  • Notable Assets: Millennium owns and controls several satellites in orbit of their moon, as well as Meu I proper. On the moon itself are their subsidiary groups of Millennium Manufactories and Millennium Armed Forces. In orbit are the shipyards belonging to Millennium Shipyards.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy: Millennium uses a relatively standard Hierarchy with the CEO towards the top alongside its Board of Directors. Beneath that are the heads of each subsidiary company, and then middle management personnel. Towards the bottom of the hierarchy is the manual laborers and those actually in the field, above only the people Millennium contracts work to.
  • Membership: Discounting Millennium Armed Forces and Contractors, Millennium employees reach into the several dozens of millions. This is largely due to the fact that there is really no other place to work on Meu I, and getting hired his relatively easy. Millennium has a job they can assign to anyone who can pass an interview and background check, even if those jobs are less-than-desirable. Even those who don't pass the interview are often hired for contract work. It is often said on the secluded moon that "If you can't get hired by Millennium, you were destined to be a hermit". Most people worry more about getting fired or demoted than they ever did getting hired.
  • Climate: Generally speaking, many are cutthroat in Millennium since it is practically the only employer on Meu I. The only way to get ahead in life is to get ahead in Millennium, so people are willing to report even the slightest of infractions and are always trying to save their own hides. Being fired is quite rare, it is more likely to be demoted or to be placed in another job far from your former one, but the employees see that as unnecessary instability. Their perspective means it is quite common for them to fight tooth and nail to preserve their current job.
  • Reputation: Many have yet to form an opinion on Millennium since it is a newcomer to the galaxy at large. However, the people on Meu I that choose not to be employed by the corporation often claim they are totalitarian and generally dislike them. They normally start rumors about unsavory experiments in the research sectors, crimes in the military, and general corruption.
  • Curios: Every member of Millennium, save the contractors and armed forces, has a Millennium Wristpad.
  • Rules: Rules and regulations are heavily decentralized in Millennium and vary vastly depending on department, adding to the chaos that is the corporate culture. Some departments will say that if you show up 30 seconds late on a Tuesday you get demoted while others state if you stay an hour late, you get fired. The only main 'rules' Millennium has are not to disrespect the CEO or Board of Directors, and not to deliberately cause loss of profit, material, or funds to the company.
  • Goals: Millennium's sole goal is research, on paper and in reality. All of the flashing lights and massive bureaucracy, even the trade they do, is for the purpose of finding higher quality things to research. Not only is that their goal it is their purpose and drive, and they will research anything and everything they can get their hands on: even things most may consider to be 'too dangerous'.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Around 50 years prior to the start of Meu I's civil war, a small corporation began to research cryogenics. Founded by Henry Garkin, they were quickly successful and became beloved across the moon. The began expanding their research into other fields of study, such as firearms technology and the stars around them. After 30 years their reputation began to fall short as the prominent research they were putting out began to decrease. Ryan O'Massung, Millennium's 6th CEO, began a campaign to allow their research of a relic base. Researching or even stepping near this base was forbidden, as the government and populace at large feared it would signal invaders to come and attack the planet. But Millennium was patient. Over the course of another 20 years, with clever propaganda and argumentation, Millennium had convinced many people to abandon the tradition, and most of them now supported researching the relic base. Most people, except the government. Millennium however had prepared for this moment by establishing its first two subsidiaries, Millennium Manufactories to produce equipment, arms, and munitions, and the Millennium Armed forces, to push back on any enforcement the government tried. It all kicked off when Millennium landed a group of four researchers with an entourage of around 50 soldiers to protect them. The moon's government immediately attempted to arrest them, but there was resistance, and a small battle occurred to kick off the war. The war itself lasted around 25 years, only ending after the siege of Garkin City, which had itself been renamed prior to the war as an attempt to appease Millennium. The research corporation achieved total victory, and began to consolidate control across the whole moon, eventually becoming the government itself. When the 14th CEO was elected, H. Edwards, he further cemented the control with crackdowns on other small companies, and improved Millenniums legitimacy by founding Millennium Shipyards.

Millennium Manufactories

Head of Millennium Manufactories: Bishop Smith
Description: Millennium Manufactories is the manufacturing portion of Millennium. They specialize in creating the various products not only for research, but also military applications and even consumer goods. They employ a significant fraction of Millenniums whole workforce, but also owns the exclusive rights to several pieces of technology.

OTHER INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Subsector 17 on Meu I
  • Membership: Millennium Manufactories is the easiest subsidiary to get into. It is often the last pick for a job, and many dread being placed here during a demotion or lackluster interview.
  • Climate: The culture in the manufactories is one that values work ethic and productivity. The more you get done, the better you are perceived. Those that strive too far, however, often end up in accidents due to the lackluster safety standards.
  • Reputation: Within Millennium, the manufactories are considered a 'dirty' and 'lower class' job.
  • Goal: To create the materials and manufactured goods necessary for Millennium and its subsidiaries to accomplish their taskings.

Millennium Armed Forces

Head of Millennium Armed Forces: Douglas Claeg
Description: Millennium Armed Forces is the military wing of Millennium. They operate all the military equipment, and conduct operations that further the interests of the company. This includes things such as covert operations, defense of vital assets, acquiring new technology for research, etc. The Millennium Armed Forces has its own army and fledgling navy.

OTHER INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Millennium Space Station Orbiting Meu I
  • Membership: The Armed Forces of Millennium aren't particularly difficult to enter, but staying in them proves a large challenge for many. It not only requires a rigorous training in bootcamp, but also additional training for any specific specialization one wishes to due while in service. Frequent exercises, surprise tests and evaluations, and one-strike policies weed out those Millennium deems unfit for duty.
  • Climate: Many in the armed forces are fanatical, wishing for nothing other than the continuation and prosperity of their people. Most, but not all, are willing to die in battle, especially in an attempt to prove themselves. The culture is very martial, and those who can't fight and simply stay in the rear their whole life are frowned upon.
  • Reputation: The other groups of Millennium have mixed views on the Armed Forces. Some view them with the utmost respect, willing to sacrifice the greatest value known to man, their lives. Others disagree, believing them to be a hodge-podge of power-seekers, sociopaths, and people with no other discernable skills.
  • Goal: The Armed forces main goal is to protect Millennium, its people, and assets. They also aid in expeditionary encounters for negotiations, relations, and scouting for research material.

Millennium Shipyards

Head of Millennium Shipyards: Martine Oswell
Description: Millennium Shipyards exists for the purpose of designing, optimizing, and building space vessels for the company. They build both military vessels for the armed forces and civilian vessels for trade and research. Millennium Shipyards is the newest subsidiary of the company, only coming about after Meu I's civil war.

OTHER INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Shipyards Orbiting Meu I
  • Membership: The Millennium Shipyards require high intelligence and high physical abilities. Unless one is an operator simply constructing the vessels, the pool Millennium picks from during the interviews is relatively small. This means that the Shipyards employs the least amount of people, however they contract the most.
  • Climate: The actual employees at the Shipyards operate with strict timetables and long thorough planning. They look at every minute detail and hammer every nail before completion. The work for contractors, however, is the most dangerous in or around the moon. Every other week there is a story of a group of contracted workers whose space tether came loose, before plummeting to the surface below.
  • Reputation: The shipyards is often considered to be cutting edge by the rest of Millennium, with the main company funneling a high percentage of funds into it to get the shipyards off the ground. Some look at this with awe as they finally begin to reach the stars, while others resent it, viewing it as a waste of resources.
  • Goal: The Shipyards main goal is to design, build and repair civilian and Military Ships.
