Midvinter, ho! (Open to Mandos/Valkyri)

Location: Midvinter; plains outside of Tháinbroek
...the Bora Class Light Freighter came out of hyperspace on the outskirts of the planets range allowing its impulse engines to carry it closer. Sensors scanned the planet but no attempt to contact anyone was made; this planet didn't have any modern technology to speak of regardless which meant that there wouldn't be anyone to contact. As for the scan it was used primarily to locate the main city of the indigenous peoples and then the Light Freighter would begin its descent towards the planet until it hit the atmosphere...

...in the cockpit of the Light Freighter Garrus would have seen the flames caused by atmospheric entry as the starship made its descent but his eyes were firmly afixed towards the ground. No Garrus wasn't driving, a random Mandalorian pilot had the helm, no one onboard wanted the Warrior to crash them onto the planets surface and turn them into a real ball of flame. On the surface it must have looked like a comet was descending from the heavens though and then eventually the Light Freighter would have pierced the atmosphere of the world and come down to land planet side....

...the planet was Midvinter, homeworld of the Valkyri, and the Mandalorians had come. Well one Mandalorian anyways. The Light Freighter would have come down within a mile of the city known as Tháinbroek. Landing on the plains outside of the city the starship would remain lifeless for some time while on the inside members of the crew and passengers prepared to disembark. When the time was right a loading ramp would lower from the hull of the ship, colliding loudly with the ground, and a man would have disembarked from the Light Freighter...

...as he came down the loading ramp Garrus would have lift his right hand to shield his eyes from the natural light. Being that he'd been onboard that starship for sometime he'd need to time to adjust. Walking down the ramp Garrus wouldn't have stopped until his feet touched the ground and he would fill his lungs with air punctuated by the obvious rise and fall of his chest. The Mandalorian wore surprisingly little armor, he was wearing light armor but that was it, obscured by a cloak that hung around his large frame and he went without his helm today. He was dressed for the climate of course. His Beskad was sheathed over his back, the hilt of the large sword extending up over his left shoulder, and was quite apparent to anyone looking directly at him. He wore a Vornskr Mark 8 Scattergun in a hip holster over his right leg as well; the scattergun was concealed by the cloak he'd dressed himself in. That was about it which was saying a lot for the Warrior...

...after his eyes had started to adjust he'd draw his hand up over his head and brush it backwards before standing at ease once again. Looking ahead he'd have been able to seen the Valkyri city in the distance though he waited and called back...
"All ready?"...as though he were waiting on someone and then he would start moving ahead towards the settlement. He moved slowly but with confidence...

Aedan wore far less armor even compared to Garrus he wore his Iron skin that he had found some time ago under some cloths of black and violet with the clan symbol for Clan Akaata on his chest over his heart. As he followed the man down the ramp he raised his hand lightly shielding his eyes from the sun as the violet orbs became accustomed to the sun light. His hair was longer now and neatly pulled back into a pony tail that the young man had started wearing. Like Garrus he was lightly armed with a single Mandalorian Ripper on his waist and two of his three lightsabers clipped onto the belt as well. He had decided to forgo carrying the lightsaber pike around instead he went with the more easily concealed weapons. With a stretch the young Mandalorian clan leader looked around and then chuckled. "So you were serious about getting some vacation time Garrus?"

The ride here had been relatively silent once he had met up with Garrus and any other Mandalorians who had decided to tag along. As such the young man was surprisingly at ease rolling his shoulders a bit to relax them as he looked around the area before him. Hopefully this vacation would be relaxing and calm as it could be when it came to a Mandalorian vacation.

..."Of course."...Garrus had chuckled after looking back over his shoulder once he'd heard Aedan's voice..."Don't you think it's a good idea. We can take in some local culture and sample the regional cuisine."...though this wasn't completely the truth as Garrus had heard of this world from a spacer that said the inhabitants were a hardy people that doubled as capable tradesmen. After waiting a short time for anyone else to join them he would motion for Aedan to follow and begin the trek towards the city in the distance, as far as cities went it was smaller than most found on civilized worlds but large for this planet, his footsteps were measured and the Warrior made no attempt to hide his advance. Truth be told it would be nigh impossible to conceal oneself on the approach anyways; if the Light Freighter landing hadn't drawn attention to them then surely someone would have noticed the men advancing across the plains...

...on the way Garrus would have looked over at the young clan leader and reminded him...
"Remember we come in peace."...that sounded funny coming from Garrus who was more opt to fight in the majority of situations he found himself in but not today, he wanted his vacation to be as relaxing as possible, right now he wanted to avoid conflict. Well violent conflict anyways. Looking ahead as he trekked across the mile of distance the Light Freighter had landed away from the city, which was called Tháinbroek, the Mandalorian would enjoy another breath of the fresh air and remark..."I've heard these people are good craftsmen as well. I've brought a bit of beskar with me. Maybe they can forge something new with it."...he obviously had his own ideas, maybe Garrus could trade with some of the locals...

...as they drew closer to the outskirts of the city Garrus would cup his hands together, raise them to his mouth, and call out...
"Hail!"...in an attempt to draw some attention his way. He wasn't sure if these people had ever encountered Mandalorians though dressed down as he was Garrus might have appeared like any other near human male, the same with Aedan really, though they were still outsiders. Waitng, Garrus came to a halt, he'd see if anyone came out to treat with them or if they'd be allowed to waltz in...

Aedan sighed and shock his long violet hair out lightly as he reached back absently making sure that it was tied correctly before he calmly strolled after Garrus stretching a bit as he looked around almost absently. His strides appeared to be measured and calm even the young clan leaders violet eyes seemed calm. But inside his mind was going through everything he had found out about these people before he shrugged and his shoulders letting the small shoulder cape he wore drift away from his right arm his left arm in all appearances normal. That was the way he wanted it he wasn't proud of the fact that he had been bested so long ago.

For now though he waited behind Garrus sense he was in charge here not Aedan. Aedan was merely tagging along hoping for a break from the chaos of war. So here he was on a planet with Garrus wondering what could possibly go wrong. With a chuckled Aedan shock out his hair and waited calmly crossing his arms as he rolled his head a bit. It had been months since Aerin had visited the Capital, not long enough as far as she was concerned, but the necessity to trade had saw her set off on the long journey toward the Thainbroek. Her beast of burden, walked behind her in a slow steady plod laden with pelts she would trade for food supplies. The winter was fast approaching and soon travel will become impossible and she needed to stock the pantries in preparation for the Snows. The plains whistled with the icy breeze rolling of the nearby mountain rangers .. buffeting her red hair around her face. Her heavy fur providing protection of the elements but still with her face exposed the heat from her blood flushed her face with a rosey hue.

A roaring noice filled her ears and her head lifted to the skies, a ball of flames high in the sky descended toward the ground at a fast rate, she stopped to watch. She had seen this before, those metal flying boxes coming to Midvinter but she had never encountered the beings within them. It is ironic only recently she had talked of such things with her sister, how they both believed that there is more out there .. more in the galaxy to be explored, and now here it was plummeting from the sky.

She pushed the beast onward, and soon she arrived to the outskirts of the Capital. Aerin made her way to the market district and tethered the beast. Pulling off her gloves she turned to look around the many locals busy with trade. It was then her eyes fell on a sight she had never seen before. Two men walking toward the area dressed in metal. Her eyes widened at the sight and she wondered how long it would take before they froze in that silly get up. Then she remembered the ship and realised they are the off worlders.

Aerin is in ear shot of hearing the man hail the people. At first she is reluctant to approach, but curiosity got the better of her.

She walked with steady pace, her thick leather boots clipping along the cobbled stone of the street, her thick brown fur pulled around the frame of her body to kept the offending cold at bay, her bow and quiver rested on her back. Aerin pulled down her cowl to reveal her red hair, an exception to the rule as most Valkyri are blonde. She stands an impressive two meters tall more in the boots.

She spoke, “Greetings off worlders”.

Location: Outskirts of Tháinbroek
...initially it seemed as though the people were reluctant to approach Garrus and Aedan however eventually a figure did come towards them, the sound of her leather boots on the cobbled stone of the street alerting Garrus to her advance, which revealed itself to be a woman as she drew the cowl she wore backwards revealing her red hair. Looking at her as she greeted them the Warrior would notice several things key among them being the bow and quiver she wore as well as the fact that she stood taller than him. Indeed Garrus would need to look up at her which hadn't happened all to often in his life...

...gazing at the tall woman Garrus would have eventually smiled, a thin smile, before he offered...
"Well met."...and extended one of his hands to her in a friendly gesture before continuing on..."I am Garrus Garon of Mandalore."...a tip of his head allowed him to motion to Aedan before he continued..."This is my traveling companion Aedan Miles."...there may also be others but they had not arrived yet so an introduction for the two of them seemed sufficient for the moment. Inhaling a steady breath he'd have waited before asking..."What is your name?"...and then waiting to see if she would tell them...

...regardless of her answer Garrus would have taken a moment before stating...
"We've come to trade and to learn of your people."...which was mostly the truth from his perspective, Garrus had also come to relax away from the wars that he often engaged in, and he was sure Aedan could also use some time to rest. As they stood there Garrus would have also looked beyond the woman, he could see other Valkyri, and he'd notice that her red hair was a contradiction to what seemed to be a more prominent blonde hair color amongst those in the background. Of course Garrus was bald himself. As he stood there it didn't take Garrus long to understand just how much both he and Aedan stood out though...
[member="Aedan Miles"] [member="Ærin Firebrand"]

Aedan watched as someone approached the wind wiping the long strands of his violet hair around as they were mostly contained by the tie holding his hair behind his head. With a look around as the person approached Aedan confirmed what he sensed the people may be curious and uneasy of them but meant them no harm. Looking forward Aedan blinked as the woman pulled back her hood and greeted them. Letting Garrus do the talking Aedan merely offered a half bow in respect before he let his gaze wander once more away from the woman in attempt to keep himself from staring. She was slightly taller then the young man but it was something he was used to. Her hair was a brilliant shade of red compared to the others. As his gaze traveled back towards her he nodded his head in agreement with what Garrus had said letting a soft smile cross his lips as he stood there calmly. While yes it was cold he rather liked it here the air smelled clean and fresh and it was extremely refreshing to what the young soldier was used to. He knew that while Garrus would fit in for the most part he would not thanks merely to the fact that his hair was a brilliant violet color and if examined closely it would be noted his eyes matched.

Her blue eyes darted from one man to the next, searching look that tried to take in everything she could. There seemed to be no malice in their countenance however, she would be on guard as they are still new to her and their ways different. A smile creased the face of the bald one, baldness a sign of virility to the Valkyri, and he extended his hand in friendship. Aerin looked at the hand in surprise, not a gesture offered to a woman at least on Midvinter, but slowly she raised hers and placed it gently in his, she laid it there unsure of what to do next and so there she stood holding a strange man’s hand.

“Garrus Garon of Mandalore … and Aedan Miles, welcome to Midvinter.” She began in an accent lyrical to the ears, “I am Aerin Firebrand of the Sabina Clan and Shieldmaiden of Midvinter”. She offered as introduction while still holding the man’s hand, a strange custom but it served well to warm the hands.

Her attention went to the younger man, her eyes had noticed his strange look, she had never seen anyone with such hair and eyes before, they are the colour of the spring flower of Midvinter that blooms in the mountain high for only a period of fifteen standard days, a rare sight to behold even for folk of Midvinter and now the flowers of the mountain are reflected in his eyes sparkling as if the snowflakes rested upon the petals. He had not spoken, so she assumed him to be a servant to the virile one.

“Trading? We there is much to see and trade for here in the markets, are you in need of pelts?”, she asked not wishing to miss an opportunity. “It is a good suggestion as you will both surely freeze soon enough”, she smiled. “But the market will be .. suspicious of you, you would need a .. guide. There is plenty of time for that, I think since Midvinter rarely has visitors from other places, a good place to start would be the market mead hall”.

Since the man from Mandalore had not let go of her hand nor had she as she was unsure if he would take offense if she let go, she took the lead and directed them both to the Market Mead Hall, there they would be warm and well feed if they required it.

The Wookie known as Rorwarr walked along on the outskirts of Tháinbroek with a light step. His fur had begun to show his age but it mattered very little to him. He was meeting someone there and the words 'vacation' and 'Mandalorians' were involved. Both words were attached to things he liked. His large feet took him onward and a breeze blew his fur about his person. His Ryyk blades sat on his back and his bowcaster was slung over his shoulder. The rope sling nestled into his fur as he held it with one big hairy paw. The ground was firm beneath his bare feet as he approached the group containing Garrus. He turned his eyes onto the woman and the two men then wondered if any of them even spoke Syriiwook. Sadly many didn't.

He stepped up and kept silent for the time being and just listened. The Valkyri were a people he didn't have many dealings with but he was sure they would be like most other hairless species. The smells of Tháinbroek reached his nose. Food was a commodity he would always put as a high priority.

Having came early to get some of the best trades for some of her late husband stuff. Only to find that some of the bartering wasn't going in her favor. Would wait, as the mead was flowing freely now. Taking sips here and there bring herself to find it a join to see so many being merry. At another stall talking to his one about snow shoes as hers had seen better days. Letting the one take measurements to get her fitted. Pulling on her old knee high skin boots. Trading a few of the knifes. Keeping the best ones for herself. Bowing in respect, to find her way over to the table with a little bit of everything. Only to find one necklace that seem to call to her. Picking it up gentle in her fingers, turning it over and over to see the magic of the stone a diamond that had rainbow of color. "I call for a trade upon this, I have three coin of sliver. " waiting for the dealer to come back which went on that she ended up paying a bit more. It didn't matter to her smiling at the gift see had just brought for her sister.
il_570xN.312045204.jpg

Giving away again to the twinkle of her eye as she held it up. It had wings of the nature like of her sister calling. Yes this would be a good gift. This brought her back to the fact her sister hadn't shown up yet. Made her a bit worried coming to the pace where she could see if was still coming up the trail. Knowing that was never one to want to come at full noon when the place was over crowd. In her mind finding what could have keep her. Her powerful sharp eyes scanning only to find rest upon her sister, to give away to a frown of sorts. There was strangers with her one being with out hair, what clan might he be from. Then fellowed but such a odd look little man, wondering just what he was or what God had been playing a joke to give him hair like that of a stardust flower petal. Clearing it seem they was lost, to have her sister bring him to a place of meeting.

Coming running out to greet them still holding the necklace in one hand even a way off "Hai, my Sister what besites you with those strangers, has one stolen from you.

..."It is an honor to meet you Aerin Firebrand of the Sabina Clan."...he would have replied in earnest after the woman had taken his hand and introduced herself, he noted the lyrical accent that she possessed as well and decided it was quite easy on the ears, then he would squeeze her hand in his slightly before shaking. A fairly straightforward greeting to him though he understood that it may have been new to her. Once they had shook Garrus would have released his hand from hers slowly and drawn it away, Aerin might have noticed his hands actually were quite warm...

...he waited, briefly, as Aerin examined Aedan before she mentioned trade and asked if they were interested in trading for pelts which caused Garrus to state...
"Yes we will trade for pelts. We've many items that can be brought from our ship that might interest you."...he wasn't sure if she knew much of technology but there were other things such as materials and supplies that they could also trade with. As for Garrus the idea that he was trading for pelts was somewhat nostalgic to him, taking his mind back to a simpler time, and if nothing else he could use to decorate his home offworld...

...Aerin had mentioned that the Mead Hall was a good place to start their visit to Tháinbroek as the people would be suspicious of them and that they would need a guide. There was plenty of time for all of that just as she had said though. Nodding his head Garrus would have replied...
"Yes that would be good."...before he saw a large, hairy and familiar figure wandering closer to all of them. He recognized the Wookie almost instantly and would have hesitated his movements before...

...
[There you are Rorwarr. Wondering when you would be here.]...his Syriiwook was broken at best and he substituted many words with galactic common, Garrus really didn't even know why he attempted the language because it made his throat itchy, but he could understand it easily enough and many Wookies did understand common too even if they couldn't actually speak it. Anyways Garrus would have turned to Aerin afterwards and stated..."This is Rorwarr, a powerful warrior of Kashyyyk. He is a friend of mine."...he understood how seeing a Wookie could be intimidating so he wanted to allay any fears as quickly as possible...

...then another woman arrived as well, Garrus heard the words strangers and sister so he hoped that Aerin would make a good introduction for him. No one wanted to make a bad impression early on but he would have offered her his hand the same as he had done for Aerin...
"Well met."...his smile was the same for her, thin but obvious, as he went on..."I am Garrus of Mandalore and these two are my friends. We were just on our way to the Mead Hall."...hopefully Aerin could shed more light on this for her sister because Garrus being new only really repeated the very little he knew at the moment...

Aedan noticing the rather large Wookiee stride towards them he grinned and gave it a light nod before he turned back as another woman approached his eyes gleamed pleasantly as the young man bowed hearing Garrus introduce himself but not Aedan the young man took it upon himself to do so. "Greetings my name is Aedan Miles." His voice was calm and seemed to flow on the breeze as he merely stated his name and then he followed after the group now. He occasionally caught people staring at the three of them but he didn't sense malice merely curious and some hesitation. With a shrug the young man calmly strode after them he wasn't much shorter then the average person it appeared but that wasn't unusual to him.

Journeying from the mountain village of Reykjaa to Midvinter's capital city took Saga Björk past the Flatirons, which were a spectacular flatiron rock formation carved out on the side of the snowy mountains. It was always a treat for Saga to see and the trip when alone gave the slave girl a chance to feel a moment's freedom. The tall and slender dirty blonde with sapphire eyes was going to Tháinbroek on an errand for her master, Ragnarson the elder, who was the Chieftain of Reykjaa.

The young woman had been given a hooded fur cape by the noble's third son, [member="Eddval Ragnarson"], so she would not freeze in the cold elements as he knew that her thickly woven shawls would not keep her warm enough. The cape had been one of his late mother's; a shield maiden of the highest caliber just like Saga dreamed of being one day.

As she approached the outskirts of the city, Saga noticed a flying iron machine land on the plains up ahead, dusting up the snow-laden ground. It startled the beast she was riding, but she knew how to handle a mount and in short order had the beast under control as the slave worked with the livestock as one of her daily chores.

Upon nearing the group that had gathered at the ship, Saga could see that the two red-haired sisters had greeted the three offworlders, strange ones at that, and were seemingly going to lead them into the city most likely to the market at Mead Hall where she was going to. The slave girl was curious yet cautious so she slowed her beast and would keep a respectful distance for now.

A smile broadened across her face as she heard her Sister's voice. Her hand dropped from the warm palm of Garrus Garon of Mandalore as she turned to embrace her Sister. "Honourable men Inger no thieves .. seems our vision were correct Sister, and sorry I am late, I have been distracted".

However, as she back was turned for a moment one of the strangers began to .. roar? This was a strange turn of events at least to Aerin's mind, as she turned back the words of friend met her ears but the sight before her made her eyes open wide. Her body tensed she was about to reach for an arrow from her quiver and notch the bow but Garrus Garon of Mandalore had introduced the being a friend. Was this being a man completely covered in a fur pelt? At least he had come dressed for the elements and Aerin walked around the man in amazement. She could not see the man's face or any part of him to indicate his physicality and her hand raised to stroke the pelt he wore as she was curious to feel the strange beasts fur. Having never seen a Wookiee before now, she had no idea of their existence.

Although her child like curiosity had got the better of her .. she quickly realised she might be doing the wrong thing by touching the man. "Yes to the Mead Hall, come let us find shelter and food".

The double wooden doors swung open, a wall of warmth hit her face causing her face to prickle with the change in temperature. The aroma of the Hall pungent with a mixture of the smell of food, mead and beings in close quarters. A scent of burning wood added to the welcoming mix and as she entered eyes fell on the strange fellowship as they all moved inside. There was much murmuring and heads turning .. eyes penetrating and soft words whispered, as usual she heard the word 'witch', spoken in a back handed way as she passed .. something Aerin is used to.

A long table was found at the end of the Hall large enough for all to be comfortable to partake in feasting. Aerin soon found her place and removed bow and quiver and placed them on the table, then her fur coat to reveal her green underclothing and weapons, a short knife and long sword which hung on her hip. She sat and waited for the others.

...cold air was cooling to him as he stood above the rest. His brown eyes sparkled with a hunters intelligence and significant mirth as Garrus attempted Shyriiwook.

"Wra ha ha ha ha." Rorwarr chuckled as he understood the broken speech. There were only two humans whom he had ever heard speek the language of the Wookies and both were Mandalorians.

"Ooorraah err warerr (that was pretty good)" Rorwarr replied before turning his gaze on the Valkyri women.

"Wuhu Muaarga(have peace)" he said as one moved for and arrow.

The tall woman approached and gazed at his with a child like gleam in her eye. It wasn't the first time in his more than 200 years of life he had been look at in such a way or been thus treated. He raised an arm and looked behind him as she circled him likely looking for a seam. He made eye contact and blinked at the woman as she petted his fur and then looked a Garrus with a shrug.

She moved on and beckoned them follow to a community gathering place called a Mead Hall. Wookies had a similar structure in their canopy villiages and it was a welcome respite from the cold winds. He followed the group and rubbed Garrus' head like a cub before taking a seat toward the middle of a the table. He took off his bowcaster and lay it across his hairy lap. The smells and noise were welcome and his generous appetite was coaxed alive at the smell of spiced meat. He was glad he had come after all...

....when Aerin moved closer to Rorwarr and began to touch the Wookie, stroking his fur, Garrus found it difficult to hide his amusement and would even raise one hand to his mouth so that none one could hear him as his chuckled briefly. Nodding his head though he'd have went on to state..."Soft yes?"...giving Rorwarr a look as though he should play along while he explained..."My friend is known as a Wookie. They have very soft fur."...which wasn't exactly true but Garrus thought it might assail the curiosity of the woman, at least for the moment, with concerns to Rorwarr however it just so happened that events would dictate they proceed to the mead hall shortly thereafter when Aerin lead them in that direction...

...
"Shelter and food sound very nice."...he'd have said as he moved just behind Aerin, allowing her and her sister to lead the way, with his companions. As they came upon the large double doors Garrus would have looked back at Aedan and Rorwarr before commenting..."Sounds like a good time."...indicating the sounds of those inside before he followed the women into the hall. Once he was inside Garrus was assaulted with the smells of food and drink which made his stomach grumble, reminding him just how hungry he was, which prompted him not to waste any time as they made their way to the long table. On the way he saw the mixture of curious looks that he and his companions received but also heard the murmurs of -witch- which caused him to crease his brow...

...taking a seat at the long table when they came upon it Garrus would reach back and take his Beskad, the large sword forged of mandalorian iron, off his back and place it down so that it was leaning up against the table. The Scattergun remained holstered over his right hip. He sat next to Aerin so that making conversation with her would be easy for him and gestured for Aedan to do likewise before grunting as Rorwarr rubbed his head and took a seat at the middle of the table. Looking at Rorwarr he'd have chuckled...
[Still no hair up there.]...he could joke about being bald with the Wookie but he added...[What do you think?]...he was talking about the mead hall, the people, Garrus was interested to know the Wookies opinion...

...then he would turn to Aerin and ask her...
"You mentioned food?"...he was hungry and he imagined Aedan and Rorwarr were as well..."We've come a long way so I think a nice meal would be welcome by all."....he smiled after he had inquired about a meal for all of them but also focused on Aerin herself..."When we came in I overheard some of the others mentioning a Witch. What did they mean?"...he didn't mean to pry to deeply but he was curious; Garrus had an idea that they'd meant Aerin but he spoke as though he'd only overheard it and wasn't sure who they'd been talking about. Glancing to the side quickly the Warrior would also look towards the entrance to the mead hall; he'd noticed another figure watching them on their way here but whoever it was had kept their distance for the time, probably just a curious onlooker...

"Honourable men Inger no thieves .. seems our vision were correct Sister, and sorry I am late, I have been distracted". Smiling at her sister in a happy way, only to think of the dreams she had to leave this planet to explore what is out there. "Oh my Sister, I have thought of you." Letting herself give her what was in her hand into her palm then closing it around her. With a smile upon her face with a embrace of a hug. Before moving on as they went with their merry group.

Smiling at her sister at these words, and the vision they had enter their mind a few days ago about these strangers. Giving a pleasure greetings, to all in this ones party. It was her eyes that would look at the purple hair one, how strange his hair. Hai from the flying box of the sky, I greet you as Inger strömfire of River Mist mother of herbs, sister to [member="Ærin Firebrand"]. It brings me join to great those from the sky above. I must say that this one with fur is a puzzlement, and strange to think that they can act like us with thoughts and manners unlike wild beast that move across these land.

Falling in step until they reached the hall, but not before her own hands touch upon [member="Rorwarr"] only to find her eyes [member="Garrus Garon"] again, with a question, "Are you sure this one isn't a pet" it was the strange way he would growl with his voice. Only to find her own eyes upon [member="Aedan Miles"] "This ones hair, did the Gods play a joke when they born him to the sky above. "

Aedan sits down blinking as he sighs audibly and rests his head against the table before he slowly pushes it up and smiles softly at the women and bows his head before he calmly speaks his voice smooth and flowing. "The gods made me the way they saw fit if they have a reason for giving me this hair who am I to question. I honestly am very fond of the way it looks." He smiles calmly at them as he reaches out for some of the food taking a bite of it as he looks at the Wookiee curiously asking it in common. "What is your name great friend? I am Aedan Miles of Clan Akaata it is an honor to meet you." He waited to see how the Wookiee would respond as his eyes calmly traveled around the room and he kept his left hand resting against his side as he thought about a few things. Glancing at Garrus Aedan calmly shrugged his shoulders once as he looked around once more and took a drink. Without grace or ceremony, wooden plates and tumblers are placed before them but a burly man with a long brown beard, the Keep of the Hall. Thick arms a heavy set belly and a smell of roasted meat followed the man as he walked, he payed not real attention to the group until his eyes fell on the Wookiee and decided to keep distance from the furred being. Having no time to look at the thing her Sister had placed in her hand Aerin for the moment, placed it in her pocket of the green over ware. Her hand went to a pouch secured to her belt full of various pieces of metal and semi-precious gems she had gained either through trade or discovery. The Lakes of Mist are littered with them if one is to go looking hard enough, not to mention the rich source of them in the mountains. Opening the pouch, Aerin selected a purple one that would be enough to cover the price of the meal and mead which would be plentiful indeed.

The Keep of the Hall, pocketed the stone and disappeared to the kitchen issuing orders to one of the maidens near by who scurried away to one of the back rooms only to return with four tankards of spiced mead and placed them in the center of the long table. She too eyed the Wookiee with some fascination a little longer then what was necessary and with more interested then one of mere curiosity. Aerin saw this too, and watched as the maiden brushed back her hair behind her eyes and smiled sweetly to the Wookiee. However, soon the Keep of the Hall returned with several workers from the roasting hearths .. plates of roasted meat soon adorned the long table along side bowls of roasted local vegetables and a heavy basket of laden bread. No need for useless implements such as knives and forks .. hands would be just fine.

Aerin turned and smiled at Garrus, "Please fill your belly" she indicated to the food, "If you require more, then more will be sent for". She in turned took up one of the tankards and poured the mead into those tumbles she could reach, including her own. After taking a long draught of mead and wiping her mouth with the sleeve, Aerin took some meat for her plate and began to eat with her hand.

"I do not live in the Capital only coming here to trade and gather supplies I need for the winter. So I am known to them. Most do not look for my company as they believe me to be ... different. And in a way they are right". She continued to eat as she too is hungry, but tried to answer Garrus and his questioning of the witch. "And that goes well with me, as I do not seek their company, it keeps me hidden". She reached out and selected her favourite roasted vegetables for the bowls and threw then on the plate before she remembered her Sister's gift. Wiping her greasy hands on her trousers, Aerin removed it from her pocket and looked upon a beautiful silver necklace on which hung a wrought figure of one of the Gods from which suspended a quality gem of many coloured facets.

"Inger this gift is most beautiful .. thank you", she said lifting up her head to smile at her Sister seated down the table. Aerin placed the necklace around her neck and secured it as the silver pendent rested on the base of her neck. "I have not forgotten you Sister, I have something for you to keep you warm through the winter.. If you will excuse me I shall return quickly". She said as she stood and left the Hall. She did not go far only to the side of her beast of burden and retrieved her Sister's gift.

Aerin returned as promised and in her arms she held a pelt she had had one of the women from her village make for Inger. She held out the gift to Inger in her arms.

After tending to her beast at the stables and doing the errand her master had sent the slave girl to do for him, Saga finally made her way to the warmth of Mead Hall as a blow was coming off the snowy mountains putting a real chill in the air of the otherwise sunny day.

Bittersweet memories of the last time Saga was here came to mind. While serving the Chieftains of the Realm at a feast, she had been manhandled in a sexual fashion by one of the drunken warriors attending and Ragnarson the younger had stepped in to save her from being humiliated in front of everyone. His later gestures of kindness showed [member="Eddval Ragnarson"]'s true affections for her not as a mere slave, but as a person, a woman. Edd had been the first to ever do that for her since unfortunate circumstances dictated Saga was to become a slave to pay off debt her father owed when Ragnarson the elder took over the lands of Húsavik; her home village.

Upon entering the hall, the dirty blonde pushed back the hood of her gifted fur shoulder cape and pulled off her gloves, stashing them in a pocket on the rawhide cover jacket she was wearing over her thickly woven peasant clothing. Saga nodded to the Keep of the Hall and showed him her pass, then took a seat at the end of a long table where the red-haired sisters and the offworlders were seated also.

A small plate of food was brought to her along with a cup of mead. The slave didn't hesitate and began eating the warm and delicious meal, sparing curious glances between bites and sips at those gathered at the other end of the table.
