Private Midnight Sun

Arla Rodarch Arla Rodarch

Hel approached and stood there looking at them kind of.. the veil over her eyes gave a look of blindness. Junko bowed as she rose up and took an offered hand. "It does good to see that you are well." There was a look though as she spoke. "IT does well to hear your voice princess and your guests who are aiding are appreciated." SHe said it and moved her head looking at them. "Welcome to Kiliea, the Resistance Matriarchy welcomes you and your assistance in the matters has been most beneficial." She moved to find a place and JUnko looked at her. "Kiliean Matriarchy?" She said it and the woman looked at her. "It is all that is left, Mythos took tens of millions of men and children. He hated any of the women and wanted to mind wipe as many here as on Atrisia. With the main military that survived under Mohc we have had to try and form something from the divided remnants of the government.... and since the population barring children is ninety percent female for the time being."

Arla listened politely and nodded sadly as the representative from the Kilean Matriarchy outlined the sad history that had led to the current governmental arrangement. They were to be commended for standing tall for their people after suffering such horrific outrages as had been visited upon them by their former oppressor. She admired their resilience, and thought that they would make good friends and allies. They just needed a hand. She and the Atrisians could and would provide it.

With that thought she realized that she'd mentally committed to the path of direct intervention and would now need to bring her people along that path with her. As their Commander they looked to her for example and guidance, and now she would have to provide real leadership, making the New Star League Remnants more than just a remnant, but something more. Friendly relations and even alliances would be not only desirable, but necessary. Building cooperation and coalition, sharing resources. This work on Kiliea might prove to be very important in the end.

War often destroys marriages among our people. I am sure there are many suitable males who might consider relocation and settlement. It is not right what was done to you, and through this we might alleviate the demographic problem somewhat.

Arla had spoken for the first time, but she hoped not out of turn. This was an important negotiation and as an outsider she had no stake in Kiliea or Atrisia's direct future. But she offered help and hope, and wanted to bring that if nothing else to the table. She sat back, taking a sip of water, as she watched Junko for hints and the Kiliean leader too.

Hel seemed to look at her and nod. "That is generous of you and would help. We try and keep it lesser known otherwise people might flock here with ill intentions or ideas. Like zeltros of Hapes, tell the galaxy there is a planet of women and..." She trailed off leaving it as that. It wasn't a complaint but they were also not needing people yet... technically there was still a war going on. Junko looked at Arla and bowed her thanks when more information was coming in. "THank you, any more help and I might believe you are trying to impress and make yourself more beautiful Lady Susni." She said it with a smile but was going over some of the information that was coming in. "The team in the tunnels found a chamber with refugees. We are getting them supplies and checking on the sanitation. It could be a good place to stay in if there is danger and we can reinforce it for them." She moved while Hel and Nyssa were nodding approval. The woman looking at Arla. "But you know about me, tell us about you so that I can properly thank you."

Arla nodded acknowledging Hel's comment about the predatory nature of males. That would not happen with the widowers she intended to reach out to about the plight of Kiliea. But that was an issue for the future, as there was indeed a war still going on. She smiled kindly at Junko's compliment. Also she read the unspoken instruction, if she read it correctly, that she had offered enough help. And Lady Hel's question required a measured answer.

She finished her glass of water and set it down, swallowing hard. Time to tell her story.

I was born into and raised among the nobility of my home system, Alula. When i was old enough i joined the military, first as a cadet, and later as an officer. I served my people as best as I could, following the example of my father, the head of our house and a good and decent man.

Ten years ago the New Star League, the government of my home system, lost its ruling family. What replaced the imperial throne was a council among the major and minor houses, the Council of Seven. Over the next decade, petty disputes and intrigues among the houses kept the peace, but there was no longer the unity we had enjoyed before. The new house lords that came to power cared more about self interest than the collective.

Last year, my father died and was succeeded by my brother, one of the new breed of nobility with nothing noble about them save the title. As a threat to his ambitions, i was soon exiled. Unable to avoid exile, i ensured that I took with me enough military and scientific skills to hurt him and the other petty lords, weakening the NSL significantly.

She smiled.

Im sure if they had realized how much i intended to bring with me into exile the lords would have tried to stop me. So i made sure the scale of the Remnants were kept under wraps until it was too late to prevent. Some of the best military and scientific minds, as well as a vast majority of talented medical personnel joined our exile.

Now our small force goes wherever we might be needed, wherever we can help and do some good in the galaxy. We are growing our resources so that we can continue to supply ourselves, as well as those we aid. We are strong enough to go anywhere that is required, and determined enough to face down any evil.

Arla finished proudly, having given a sales pitch for the NSLR without intending to. Her story, as she saw it was just beginning. Alula was where she had come from, it didn't define her. She would do that herself. Helping the Kilieans and Atrisians was a good work for the future.

Junko listened to the tale as did the others... it was something of interest to hear though giving her a small smile at least. She would be abel to work with that and help out as if they were exiled and the ones that they had left were dangerous or terrible... Atrisia would work to make sure they were not traded with or heavily taxed. It seemed the least they could do but she remained there. The two Kiliean women nodding approval at her action. "Not a terrible plan... dangerous logistically as you might have left them unprotected and it could lead to others coming in to attack... or making you a vulnerable target with no tactical backup should they try and overwhelm."

Junko found a place while she drank a little of the tea listening to it and she was intrigued in other ways... wanting to see more of this operations as when the danger had come many from Atrisia had fled.. they didn't take stuff and make their own they were always planning to return. SHe was happy to though while more reports were coming in and they were making plans with the droids to fortify and rebuild sections of the area in the tunnels. Nyssa was movin around as Hel went to take a seat across from Arla and nodded. "The rest though we do have our shipyards. Some of the finest in the Commonwealth after Atrisia and Frisal so should you need to build up ships."
