- Reduces Speed and Maneuverability of Tie Fighter by 10% when affixed.
Not wanting to build (and license) the more expensive Tie Bombers, Tie Advanced, or other Tie vehicles at their Obulette Factory, House Mecetti has developed this innovative optional add-on for their Tie/mg squadrons. These ordinance rings can be kept in storage aboard star destroyers or bases, and attached when a mission requires missiles or torpedoes. They decrease the speed and maneuverability of Tie fighters, but provide four missiles, torpedoes, or a combination of the two for anti-ship or ground-attack operations.
The four launcher units in the ordinance ring simply clamp on to the Tie Fighter in question, and are further secured by the structural ring which sits over the cockpit window. The exhaust cones at the rear of each launcher pod allow the missile or torpedo's exhaust gasses to pass non-propulsively into space when the ordinance is launched. A small console adjustment enables the ordinance to be operated by the pilot.
There really is no less-expensive way to turn a snubfighter into a bomber. While House Mecetti is known for being stuck in the past, they managed to find an innovative solution for up-arming their fleet of antique fighter squadrons. These rings turn their fighters into a serious threat to enemy capital ships and fortifications.
