Arrbi Betna
Marauder
Intent: To create a rocket artillery vehicle for Mandal Hypernautics, the Mandalorians, and the Mandalorian Protectors. Also, to create a rocket artillery vehicle to sell on the open market.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Mandal Hypernautics
Model: MH RAV
Affiliation: Mandal Hypernautics, Mandalorians, Mandalorian Protectors, open market
Modularity: Yes, they can be outfitted with variable missiles designed to be fired from vehicular missile rails.
Production: Mass
Material: Shadlaar cargo hauler, Fragmentation Unit-2 rockets, and alusteel and firing mechanisms for the missile rails.
Role: Rocket artillery
Height:
Length: 6.5
Width: 2.5
Weight: ~7 tonnes (Variable weight depends on rockets used. Rail weight is negligible)
Minimum Crew: 2
Optimal Crew: 6
Propulsion: Wheels
Top Speed: 95kph
Armaments:
Squadron Count: 8-10
Passenger Capacity:
Cargo Capacity: Personal effects. Rail system takes up cargo bay. Extra crew and passengers sit around the rail system and/or in the cab where there is room.
Misc. Equipment:
Description:
A simple solution to a complex problem, the Mandal Hypernautics Rocket Artillery Vehicle is cheap, plentiful, and does the job right.
The RAV is as simple as it gets. The vehicle is literally a Shadlaar cargo hauler with a basic rocket rail launch system mounted on the back. The concept is to provide indirect fire support on enemy targets with an overwhelming barrage of rockets. The range and effectiveness of the barrage depends on the rockets used, but the rail system can take any rail mounted rocket designed for a basic artillery role. The RAV's rail system features eight rails that can mount two rockets each, allowing the vehicle to fire a total of sixteen rockets per barrage. The rockets are fired in quick succession rather than all at once. This is to prevent the rails from ripping from the truck's cargo bed and so that there is less chance of the rockets impacting each other and detonating right in front of the vehicles or in flight. The entire barrage is launched in less than 5-7 seconds, making it highly effective as an area saturation firing platform.
The downsides are fairly simple. The vehicles have little to no armor and carry/fire rockets that may blow up if damaged. The reloading process takes approximately five to ten minutes for trained crews, perhaps less for elite crews. The RAVs also need a steady supply of rockets, meaning that these platforms need a supply line for more than one volley.
