Description: The next variant of the ShaShore line is the interception and interdiction variant Interdictor Frigate. Unlike the other ShaShore variants, which are designed more for stand off actions against more powerful vessels, this variant is specialised at interdiction operations. Built around the shielding system and its redundant systems the class is armored in a thin plating of High Grade Durasteel Hull Armor. Multiple socketguards are installed in the networks and transmission lines of the vessel to help prevent hacking and slicing attacks. Redundant Cap Drains are also installed to help protect the systems from ion attack.
While designed to operate in conjunction with larger fleet squadrons as support interdiction the Angler-class has a conceived secondary role as Anti-piracy Interdiction. Often used as command ships for anti-piracy lines, the Angler-class is often supported by light carriers and corvettes. While not a conceptual role for the vessel, it has also seen success when working with the same anti-piracy lines as commerce raiding flotillas.
The vessel operates around the forward mounted Gravity Well Generator which can emit a standard planetary sized gravity shadow over an area. Once engage the speed of the ship is drastically decrease the mobility of the vessel, making it impossible to move when gravity shadow is engaged.
While the main role of the vessel is interdiction it still performs well as a standard warship. While lightly armed for a heavy frigate the class still supports weapons systems for a verity of roles. Twenty turbolaser cannons are mounted across the forward hull. Ten rapid fire turbolaser cannons are concentrated to the forward fire arc in two batteries of five weapons each. Two additional batteries of five rapid fire turbolaser cannons mounted one on each flank cover the port and starboard arcs. Two batteries of five rapid fire ion cannons, are mounted on the prow supporting the rapid fire turbolasers. These batteries aid in disabling shielding and systems of target ships. Twelve turreted general purpose warhead launchers cover the ship in a full bubble of both offensive and defensive cover. These systems can fire a variety of different warhead options from a centralized auto fed magazine in the center of the vessel. The class sacrifices offensive weponry to carry a substantially heavier defense armament than other heavy frigates. Two heavy defense batteries mounted amidships on the dorsal hull mount two short ranged rapid fire light turbolaser cannons and eight rapid fire point defense laser cannons for anti-fighter and anti-corvette defense duties. Two countermeasure defense batteries are mounted on the dorsal and ventral hull axis and cover the ship with multiple types of defensive ordinance. Rounding out the weaponry of the class, two laser defense batteries mounted on the vessels flank axis work to engage incoming projectiles and attack craft.
