Description: The ShaShore Mk II Class is based on the old frigate of the same name used by the Galactic Alliance and Fel Empire centuries ago. While its role has changed the ship still continues its service as an escort for larger vessels. With its hanger enlarged and weapon systems reduced the ShaShore MK II-class is more of a carrier than a frigate.
Utilizing the newly developed Mon Calamari shielding the Defense capabilities are dramatically increased. The ship retains it use of light armor to reduce mass depending on the shielding for protection. Redundant systems are installed throughout the vessel hardening it to the rigors of combat. These include systems for defense against hacking and slicing as well as defense against Ion damage from spatial ion energy and ionic weapon systems.
Offensively the class is very lightly armed. Eight turbolaser cannons mounted on the forward hull fixed to the forward firing arc.This leaves the flanks and aft of the ship more vulnerable to attack from capital vessels. However, the class is not defenseless against capital attack. Twelve fast track turret mounted light turbolasers are spread over the ship covering the port and starboard flanks giving the vessel very limited offensive capabilities in these arcs, this leaves the aft fire arc undefended against capital vessels. Two turreted countermeasure defense batteries and five laser defense batteries mounted on the dorsal and ventral axis, near amidships give full coverage over a three hundred and sixty degree bubble of fire.
Due to the increased mass the class is far less maneuverable than other ships of its size. This is offset by the vessels desired role as carrier escort allowing it to maintain its position escorting larger vessels and supporting with its attack craft.
