Manufacturer: Stargo Enterprises
Model: Meteor-class Droid Dispenser
Affiliation: Confederacy of Independent Systems
Modularity: Yes (can hold different variations of droids)
Production: Mass-Produced

Description:

The Meteorite-Class Droid Dispenser is a drop-pod variant of the ancient CIS Droid Dispensers. Unlike the previous generation of the droid dispensers, these pods are one size fits all. The durasteel shell protects the load-out of either 96 droids of 2 meters high or less (in stored position) 24 droidika style droids or 30 droids of over 2.1 meters (and ten less droids per meter from there). The dispenser completes this by having 24 droid racks capable of holding 4 droids each. However, as the droids get bulkier or taller, racks are removed to make room for them. The Dispenser is deployed by dropping from the hanger or pod bay of a ship and then falling through the atmosphere of the target planet and using rocket thrusters for controlled decent. The pod also has light energy shielding for heat resistance.

The Droid Dispensers are near impossible to destroy with anything short of explosive charges or rockets. However, the pod is highly vulnerable to damage as it is descending and a single stray laser hit could destroy a thruster and send the dispenser into malfunctioning loop before hitting the ground and exploding. Another weakness is that the pod is completely unarmed and that the droids can only deploy at a rate of 4 droids per minute (Meaning it would take 24 minutes for a full deploy). The droids deploy by having their racks ejected slowly from the port in the front of the machine and then they drop to the ground. The rack then slides back into the machine and the next rack is produced. When the droids are fully deployed, the pod is stuck in position until a ship comes to tug it away. Once back on a ship, the pod can be opened and the racks refilled.
