Appearance
Meryn Dupont is a man in his early thirties. He is in excellent shape, and takes care of both his body and appearance, which shows. This includes regular work-outs to stay in shape, well-combed hair and a clean shaven chin. Meryn wants to look like success, and in many ways, it is a feat he pulls of well. His wealth has allowed him to support a healthy lifestyle as well, whether that means acquiring resources, be it for training or food purposes.
Meryn is most often seen wearing tailored suits. If asked which was his finest suit, he would have a problem answering, as the majority of them would qualify. He has many, and they are all tailored to not only fit him, but also the situation they are used in, and as such all match a certain standard (or pay others to worry about that for him).
Biography
Meryn Dupont was born on Nubia, a planet on the edges of Republic space. The planet was a small, temperate world, known for their development of starships and droids, as well as possessing various other companies considered financial giants. It was in this environment that Meryn grew up. Coming from a family both rich on wealth and influence, he had all the opportunities in the world. Being of the Dupont family came with a seemingly unlimited deck of 'get out of jail free' cards. The combination of the family's wealth and skillful political maneuvering made sure that none of the scandals their children were involved with escaped into the public. In the eyes of the people, they were model citizens. The public were blindfolded to ignore their many transgressions. The Nubian population was known for having an appreciation for the great beauty and the finer things, enjoying the cosmopolitan lifestyle. In this regard, Meryn was a stereotypical Nubian.
Meryn grew up in a fairly large family, with two younger sisters and an older brother. It was expected of all of them to pursue higher education and prestigious careers. His brother served in the military, and showed a talent for it, and now holds a high position in the Republic army. While one of his sisters is still finishing up her studies, the other is now at the head of a successful law-firm. It's a family firm, and she's a partner to her father, who is expected to step back and leave it all to her soon.
It was first expected that Meryn and his sister would run the company together, but Meryn's choices took him on a different path entirely. Like his sister, he too went to law school, finishing with excellent grades despite questions being raised as to his lack of effort. Since then, like his older brother, he conscripted into the Republic military. Because of his background, he was quickly admitted into the ranks of officer. Always keeping himself at top physical and mental shape, Meryn excelled in the military, impressing his superiors and even successfully leading his men in a few campaigns and raids.
Meryn's friends and family speculated which path he would choose, military or law. He shocked them when he picked neither, suddenly leaving the army behind for the life of politics. While unexpected, it was not unappreciated. Despite his youth, he experienced a quick climb to the top. It was in fact safely assumed that he was next in line to be elected Senator of Nubia. That was until a series of scandals hit him, on a scale that not even his family name could protect him from. He had chosen a life in the public light, and now his sins came back to haunt him. It turned out he had used contacts made during his time in the military to make less than savoury deals, exploiting other people, and accepting bribes. The rumours that were coming out against him spoke of corruption, illegal information trade and even slavery.
While unable to diffuse the situation, the Dupont family made sure it all went away from the public. Agreements were made, secret deals struck. Nothing was proven, and Meryn escaped trial, but he still had to face the consequences of his actions. Meryn's name managed to come out of it looking clean, but he was forced to step down and promise to never pursue political positions representing Nubia in the future. Effectively, he was in exile. And so he left. Left Nubia, left the Republic, to pursue his own personal gains. Now he picked up the information trading business and made it his livelihood, leading a promising intelligence agency.
