Intent: To develop a raiding vessel and standard frigate for the new Imperial Remnant
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: CRI (Imperial Design)
Model: Merciless Class Star Frigate
Affiliation: Imperial Remnant
Modularity: No
Production: Mass
Material: Durasteel, Glasteel
Description: Designed to fill the role of an attack frigate, the Merciless Star Frigate is the Imperial Remnants main warship for assaulting enemy supply lines and escort convoys. It was developed shortly after the Remnant's conquest of their new Capital world of Crina with the intention of using it as a swift and maneuverable vessel that could strike out into the rest of the galaxy and operate in small groups or alone to raid independent worlds shipping lanes and seek out opportune worlds to target for conquest next.

Designed without a hanger, the Merciless class instead utilizes various docking clamps and tubes to connect it to shipyards for repair, allied ships for the transfer of supplies and crew, and enemy vessels its cripples to board and capture. The lack of hanger space also enables the Merciless to be a much faster class of frigate, and its smaller size has also given it the added bonus of being cheaper and easier to manufacture, which has allowed some of the saved resources to be used as added hull plating.

Armed with an array of heavy turret guns and six concussion missile tubes for capital ship combat, and twenty point defense cannons for defense against enemy missiles and starfighters since it fields no fighter support of its own, the Merciless class is a heavy hitting and brutal contender.

Another good submission. However, this is falling under the "heavy assault" type, where I'd expect the ship to have speed penalties. You're currently veering towards a bomber in that regard,

No Development Thread
-Speed to 8.
- Manoeuvrability to 9

Development Thread: X Posts.
-A 10 post development thread on creating such a well armed (for its size) yet quick frigate.
- Manoeuvrability to 8

Actually if you want the math its actually barely stronger than an average ship.

8 x 2 (dual) x 2 (Heavy) = 32
2 x 2 (dual) x 2 (heavy) = 8
6 Concussion Missiles (out of 10 for a balanced frigate)
20 Defensive guns

2 Missiles = 8 Defensive guns. A Balanced frigate has 12 in the old template.

What I am is 6 Capital guns over the old balanced template. However, this ship has no hanger of any kind and lack fighter support. Which I thought was a decent trade off for the speed and a few extra guns. If we consider a balanced frigate to be a 10, then this ship is just an 11 rated at best.

If you still think I ought to do a dev thread I will, or if you think I could add more weapons with a dev thread let me know and I might do that too.

Let me have a little chat with the other judges on speed ratings relative to the old system and I'll get back to you asap.

Currently in my mind, Speed/manoeuvrability 7 would be very fast for a frigate.

I'm going to stick with my original ruling on this one with a minor amendment, thank you for your patience! :)

You're on the top end of the speed I'd expect for a frigate, a bit over the average weapons. I accept you've dropped a squadron of fighters, but you're also on the small end of the scale.

However, I'd be happy for you to bump up the missiles by 4 OR an equivalent boost in other weaponry whether you go down Dev or not.
