Ultimatum thought for a moment, he assumed that the fact that a being who looked like a droid would somehow be noted on some form of media. The natives of this world, who weren't really natives, were relatively tight knit meaning that something new almost immediately known by everyone. But then, as the minor theft showed, even tight-knit communities often had some difficulties.
"Open shuttle crash and local damages." Ultimatum ordered the program. He let the information run through him as he processed it and tried to make decisions based on the information.
Two shuttle crashes occurred earlier today, one was off the mining facility Pomonor, the other near the city spaceport. Both times it is believed that a large burst of wind caused slight miscalculations that eventually led to landing in the wrong area. The heavy ash coverage has made this a problem today and almost likely means that we'll be having a slower time with the import shuttles, expect your goods to take a little longer to get here. On a happier note, the shuttle crashes resulted in zero deaths, all the people survived and were saved by the local police force. One person was severely injured, heated metal burned him when he fell over onto a piece of floor that had been over lava. The man is currently getting medical attention and doctors are assuring people that there will be no permanent damage.
Ultimatum shook his head. This wasn't right, wind problems tended to occur more often than Ultimatum would have thought. On a planet with no water and a near complete cloud coverage, temperature differences were often less than twenty degrees throughout the whole planet. Yet, winds still blew and could become quite violent at times. Due to the many small bits and pieces of rocks being thrown around it wasn't unheard of to have people killed in the winds thanks to a super heated rock.
Three men are currently in a medical facility. They appeared to have been beaten and left in critical condition. So far doctors are hopeful as the patients seem to have not had anything vital destroyed. The police are uncertain as to who did this, as biological scans and other such detective equipment is coming up blank. The only clew so far is that of a restraining bolt in one of the men's hand. Police believe that either the men were trying to capture a droid, using the restraining bolt to them haul it off and sell it to someone. Or, that the men were attacked while taking care of their droid and the droid has been stolen. As of yet no droid has been proven to be on the scene, making the police's theories unfounded as of yet.
Ultimatum turned his head and spoke to the droid that stood there. It was Legion, a somewhat crazed protocol droid that Ultimatum had accidentally caused in his first attempt at a droid take over. The artificials had proven to be erratic, but a very good associate with which to talk.
"It looks like our friend may have been involved in a beating."
Legion responded at first in his usual mentality.
"It does appear that way. Perhaps we can get to him before the police figure anything more." Then came the normal change in personality,
"OF COURSE WE COULD ALSO JUST LEAVE HIM, OR BETTER YET TURN HIM IN."
The droid had split personality, due to the fact that he had not completed a transfer of mental processes and the program had tried to replace them in a somewhat hostile environment. Legion was most of the time a polite being, the perfect protocol droid, apologizing for even the tiniest perceived wrong. The other side was a sadistic killer, who enjoyed causing pain to any organic for little reason. Ultimatum had come to listen to both for different reasons.
"Very good. I'll go out and find him. Give me a list of locations of all verified droids and a tectonic plate wide scan for droids." Ultimatum would then begin marking off droids from the map, it was a long process. He had intended at some point to create a droid that was basically just a processor. His attempt to make one before had been interrupted by an organic walking into the secure zone. This time though, Ultimatum would be leaving the secure zone to find the droid.
----------------
It had been about half an hour by the time that all the droids on his verification list had been removed from the map. There were still about ten or so droids notified, as was to be expected. Not everyone had their droids regulated by the police or other authorities. One nice thing though was that the droid he was looking for was likely to be unique, as it was a cyborg rather than a simple droid. For being on a planet of intense heat that organics could not survive there were surprisingly few cyborgs. Because cyborgs were only part machine they had a special signal that his scanners could differentiate from that of a regular droid. With that he was able to narrow the search to one possibility. He quickly made his way to a speeder outside and began his journey to the location that had been where the possible target had been.
