Memories of Nobody (Rasu Gan)

[member="Rasu Gan"]

The padawan had been with his master for most of his life. His mother and father.. skilled jedi had taught him a great deal and his sister was off doing her thing. He didn't mind she never really wanted to keep in touch, after awhile it kind of went from hurt and pain to undertanding. She had to make her own decisions and having her own family while her father and brother were there well just gave him some excuses to work on his own skills within the jedi order.

Namely how he had been dueling against his master last time with the blade as an extension compared to chopping wood. He had actually gotten a few good strikes on her and surprised her. The saber throws were the key he had found and improving his movements instead of following the standard move sets it all gave for teachings. Her teaching had been what inspired him and so he was ready to begin the real journey with his master and had his finest in equipment on.

There had never been quite a student like Barinthus E'ron. Rasu had trained various students throughout her life as a Jedi yet none seemed to equal the wit and skill of the E'ron offspring. His training had been unorthodox with the departure of the Shi'ido and the absence of both parents and siblings but the young Jedi had excelled, putting aside these hardships to rise above the factors that had weighed him down. The Jedi Master did not know what would become of the young man but she was confident that his actions would contribute greatly to the shaping of the galaxy.

As she approached Barinthus, she could not help but smile. Unaware of her intentions, Barinthus would remain in the dark, helpless until his master would reveal the reason for his summons. Studying the Jedi, Rasu could make out the areas of significant growth, her mind flashing back to their introduction on Tython; a time that seemed to have occurred a millennia ago. Now the Master deemed the student ready for his trials, tests that would prepare him for Knighthood.

Due to his unorthodox training, Rasu deemed it acceptable to overlook one or two of these trials, with the understanding that the Force had tested Barinthus rather than investing in trials herself. However the final ruling would be overlooked by the Assembly, leaving Rasu to move forward with her first test.

"What do you know of the Trial of Skill?" she asked Barinthus, skipping the warm greeting that would normally accustom a meeting between the pair.

He looked at her when she arrived, seeing the sight of his master was one of the best things since he was a little boy in the temple on Tython. That nice green skin and all of her hard work in teaching him, his parents taught as well but he had spent a great deal of time with his father learning how to fight some of the bigger sithspawn.... also helped that he learned how to resist something trying to mess with what was within his blood. The sithspawn blood boiling over at times while he stood there straightening up as he spoke. "Well it was a way to see how far a jedi padawan had progressed in their training. I know a few jedi usually do it by combating some sort of darkside user."

"You have been well-informed my Padawan." Rasu smiled, turning so to face the window overlooking the Voss Academy. Much had developed since she had last returned to the system, however the Shi'ido had abandoned her anxieties not long after her arrival. While so much was still foreign to her, the people had remained the same. It had made her transition so much easier and Rasu knew that her belief and desire to defend in the name of the SIlver Jedi would remain the same. The same could be said for the Jedi behind her, although he would need to be tested.

"However it is much more than just a test of skill. The trial is designed to examine your growth and dedication to the Order. Physical and mental abilities will be studied and analysed. While some may deem this an easier trial, believe me, when i say that many more fail this trial out of over-eagerness and pride." Visions of her past pupils flushed her mind, filling the woman with joy and disappointment. Her past had been full success and failures however she had always felt confident when it came to Barinthus. "I urge you to banish such thoughts from your mind Barinthus. They cloud the mind and distort the senses of many a Jedi. These will not help you in this trial."

A shimmering lightsaber had now appeared in the woman's hand. Rasu held it up to the light, studying her beloved weapon. A sense of calm flooded the Shi'ido as she felt the familiar grip of the elegant tool. Exhaling softly, Rasu spun with lightning speed. A yellow blade extended from the metal hilt as it eagerly hungered to sink into the flesh of the Jedi apprentice.

The trial had begun.

He was listening to his master and even after all of this time he still hung on her words with a nod in understanding. He knew a lot about the jedi and about the trials, hell he knew a lot about the darkside from stories his father gave him and seeing his sister with what she did. He was waiting to see what his master had planned when something came to him, a feeling in the force a moment before there was that familiar snap hiss. All of their work in training had him moving back quickly in a gliding motion when he kicked off his one foot activating the saber. Brilliant jade light reflecting on his face before her moved switching the blade into a reverse grip as he moved to slash towards his master to meet her blade watching her. A confident look on his face more so because he always had it instead of showing emotions. He was ready for this, he was ready to test his skills against his master.. after all she had taught him everything he knew aside from his father and mother... which punching a wall might be a very different one to use. "Alright then." He thought about it to work on many of the things thinking about it.... "So how is Allanna?"

A smile grew upon the Master's face as her saber clashed with her student's. Hissing filled the room as emerald and gold beams fought for dominance before Barinthus relented, swinging back towards the Shi'ido to strike at her. A simple technique, one that Rasu had performed and defended against many a time. With her years of experience, Rasu simply stood to the side, allowing the familiar tickle of heat pass over her as the blade descended towards the floor.

A smirk was visible on her face as the young man attempted to distract her with his words. Rather than replying, the SHi'ido offered her sweetest smile before lashing out with her foot, hoping to make contact with the man's stomach. Imbuing the attack with the Force, if it connected, the Padawan would be hit with the full force of her telekinetic attack.

"I have not heard from her since her defection." Her mind flickered by an image of her daughter. Rasu froze, her emotions gaining the better of her as the Jedi's face drooped into a frown. Regret had become a frequent companion alongside her grief the past few weeks. She had been so beautiful and the light of the Shi'ido's life, yet her defection had struck a nerve like none before. Harming her even more so than her husbands death on Malachor. However these were thoughts that would have no place during this trial. Shaking her thoughts away, Rasu returned her gaze to Barinthus, adopting her familiar confident grin.

"However these are words for another time. For now we spar." Rasu said, leaping towards the young man, folding her body into a somersault as she appeared to soar towards her target. With her saber extended in her left hand, her second weapon whizzed into her right as she continued her spin. With both blades extended, she became a pinwheel of destruction, spinning both weapons as she approached her student.

He stayed with her, watching and letting the force guide his movements when he didn't stop her kick but went with it. Projecting the force into a protective aura for her to kick as he jumped up rising into the air to land backwards and listening. "Well then I'll just have to find her, bring her home and tell her to stop all of this silliness." He said it preparing with his saber ready for anything while refucusing his energies to meet her twin blades as she lept coming at him. He didn't need a second saber but it was always good to work and prepare yourself as he let the force flow within his body. THe muscles tensing ready to strike and dodge before he moved quickly. His saber extended before switching to a reverse grip with a rotation leaping while he focused to jump off of a force distortion to rise up and try for a slash to test at her before kicking off a second distortion to give another slash as he was prepared to duel her.

Offering a smile in return for his kind words, Rasu would not reply. Her small gesture would be enough in her eyes to show her approval. While she knew that there had existed a bond between her daughter and student, her fragile relationship with Allana had not allowed her to discover the true extent and nature of this bond. However if anyone could bring her daughter back into the folds of the light, the Shi'ido could at least believe in the determination and stubbornness of the E`ron offspring.

Her thoughts would have to wait however, as the young man spoke he was already preparing for his next strike. As if in slow motion, Rasu opened herself to the flow of the Force, watching in admiration as the Padawan manipulated the Force to reach beyond human heights. He had surely advanced in skill. However her pride did not allow her to give in to the trial.

Rasu's first saber blocked the initial strike, their blades crackling as she carried on with her motion to push the opponents blade back. However as the second strike homed in on the Shi'ido's body, Rasu had no intent to make contact with the weapon. Carrying on from her initial movement, Rasu rolled forward, crouching into a ball and flinging her body away from the weapon and her student as she attempted to recreate their distance.

Spinning on the spot, she curled her hand into a fist before surrounding it in the destructive energy of the Force. Aiming at Barinthus, she pushed out, releasing the telekinetic attack towards the Padawan. However she did not stop there. Willing the energy to speed up, her fist appeared to burst into flame as she willed the molecules to increase their speed and create friction. Repeating the motion again, Rasu flung several fireballs in the student's direction, hoping to catch the man off guard and create an opening to seek defeat.

He could see and feel the force, perceptions increased so the world felt like it was slowing down all around him. His masters skill had rubbed off on him while she rolled away and he created some distance tossing himself forward into a roll twisting around so his hand was on the floor. He shot his gaze up seeing it, her fist as she launched fireballs with the small hairs on the back of his neck bristling when he thought about what he was doing and why he needed this. There was the whole family legacy thing that they worked with, his parents and sister were an important part but there was also not disappointing his master or failing to help the one person he did care about. The fireballs coming had him focusing as he moved tossing his saber up to block one of the fireballs and lobe it behind his master. He rose up as the blasts were coming at himself and let the flexibility come into play while he started to dodge dashing across the floor under and over with his speed as he went to get forward to launch two force pushes one from a punch and one from a kick to get her to stop letting him close the distance.

Barinthus had done well to avoid her pyrokinetic attack, however she had more techniques that he had yet to witness, techniques that she had spent years learning on her pilgrimage into the unexplored regions of the galaxy. These could wait of course as there was no need to conclude things so quickly. Stepping to the side, the deflected fireball crashed into the floor, sending sparks and embers cascading harmlessly around the chamber. While she was impressed he had been able to redirect her attack, Rasu found she had no time to commend his skill as her eyes were already locked onto the Padawan's fist.

Ducking under the Force push, Rasu felt her hair being shaken by the force of Barinthus' telekinetic attack. However she was caught unawares by the second attack, finding herself flung backwards before landing back in her feet. Dazed and alarmed by her own error, Rasu could only laugh at her mistake. "Congratulations are in order, however it will not happen again." she warned the Padawan. Calling back her fallen sabers, Rasu activated the golden hued blades, entering a defensive stance as she awaited the next move.

He didn't react in a large way, boasting he was good or had used skill wouldn't impress. It was that he happened to be able to land something which knocked his master back while he waited for a moment standing there when she brought her blades up. He didn't have his tossing it past her to deflect a fireball while activating it with the force on the ground and pulling it from behind her while he was dashing towards her to draw her attention. The saber going to try and trip her with his movement made to dodge forward and down jumping to grab the saber into a falling leaf downward slash with the fast twist before he brought his legs up into a tucked position to protect them and kick down for a small shockwave when he landed.

The woman tensed as Barinthus broke into a run, charging at her. Gripping her sabers, she prepared to block his attack before realising that his own weapon was not in hand. Sensing the danger that was about to encase her, the Jedi Master leaped backwards. The weapons heat tickled her exposed back as it flew underneath her into the outstretched palm of her apprentice. However his attack did not finish there. Bringing her own lightsaber to clash with his, Rasu continued her backward flip, swiping her opponents weapon aside as her boot attempted to ram itself into the man's jaw, following through with her backwards momentum. The woman landed back on her feet, successfully deflecting the man's offensive while hopefully succeeded in her own attack.

He was watching it, all of the hard work they were doing had the padawan twisting as his feet came down. She was backflipping and using it to move his saber to the side, his body slightly rotating with it while the boots came up clipping into his cheekbone and face just under the eye when he touched the ground and she was flipping. He came to the floor crashing a little and smashing his knee into the floor while he rolled. The skin showing the boots treads pattern there o the side of his face while he wiped at his eye. There was pain on his face but he had faced dangerous things that could be a problem. Training and learning from his master was what he did while moving around a little and rising up with the bootprint starting to puff up a little as he gripped the saber. "Alright ready."

As the Padawan fell to the floor, Rasu ebbed concern, fearing she may have lashed out too roughly. However her worry vansihed as the man rose from his crumpled form to stand up defiant. The Jedi Master smiled, seeing much of the boy's parents in his actions. He had been through much to reach this point, and these trials would appear to be the icing on the cake before he reached Knighthood. On that day, as she knew it would not be long, Rasu would be proud to have raised such a competent and skilled young Jedi to his place in the Order of Jedi. However the trials were still underway and they had only scratched the surface of challenges.

Nodding as the Padawan readied himself, Rasu sprung into action, switching to the offensive. Reaching out with her presence in the Force, the Shi'ido prodded at Barinthus' aura, engaging in a mental battle as she attempted to overcome his defenses and gain control. As she extended through her mind, Rasu also bounced forward, arcing her lightsaber at a vulnerable spot near his waist. Hoping to distract the man by her two-pronged attack, the Shi'ido continuing swinging her weapon, inching ever closer to the man's body.

He could feel his master, her mental attack while he moved to defend and focused. Just like he had been taught and with the natural mental defenses he had been trained to do. resisting was easier as he moved with her blade to less defend with a saber and more go into its path so she could pass through. He could get a moment behind for a slash towards the back of the leg of his master. He could feel the force while letting it flow out staying with her movements as he was sensing it over just his own sight. Thoughts were coming from everywhere in his head watching her blades as well as some of the force energies. His reactions were slower then he liked trying to block her out but he knew his masters mind. It was a familiar sensation before he clamped down hard to protect himself.

While Barinthus attempted to defend against her own mental attack, Rasu continued her advance. The Padawan blocked and parried her physical attack, although his Master could tell that his thoughts were distracted elsewhere. Pushing further with her extended tendrils, the Shi'ido ventured further, pushing and striking the barriers within the Jedi's mind. She found much resistance, however this did not surprise her. Jedi like Barinthus had been taught from a young age to strengthen their mind before their bodies were honed for combat. In this way, her Padawan would be better prepared for her mental attacks than he would her physical. However these only served as a distraction in an attempt to find an opening.

As Barinthus attempted his own attack, Rasu leaped into the air, diverting her attention to the defense of her body. The Padawan's blade swung low, passing through the space in which the Shi'ido had just occupied before returning to its original position. Landing back on her feet with a thud, Rasu turned back to face the young man, obviously preparing for another assault by the Master. Deactivating her own weapon, Rasu extended her hands, directing them at the Padawan. This time Barinthus would face the full power of her mental capabilities. Opening her mind and body to the flow of the Force, Rasu extended her mental tendrils once more. Pushing forward, the Jedi Master surged forward, ramming the empowered tendrils against the barriers of her student. The force of this attack would be so great that Barinthus would have no choice but to engage solely in there mental duel, leaving both combatants unable to continue physically until the mental battle had subsided. Continuing with her barrage, Rasu rammed against the defense of Barinthus, looking for an opening while remaining conscious of a rebuttal by her student.

He moved with her, Once he felt her let up for a brief moment his full focused redoubled on his speed and power over his mental defenses and it was a dangerous game but one that could pay off. Eyes tracking her in slow motion through the force while she was landing and preparing a full assault with the force over just using her blades still. He moved ducking low and rolling so he could come up into an attack when he felt her attack on his mind and nearly shouted out from the intense pain of it all. She was going to be stronger then him and she knew his mind and how to get in there through any mental shields he had just as well as he knew her as a master. It would be something not many could think of doing while he let his body go in for the attack over his head that was in pain. Gravity and momentum carrying the full force to body check his master and break her concentration.

Rasu moved through the man's mind as if it were her own. Having practically known the young man since birth, there was not much that appeared foreign, however barriers protected those areas of restriction. The Jedi Master had gained the upper hand by using the element of surprise, allowing her to wrench rather deep into the younger Jedi's mind, however this advantage was slowly waning and before long she would be met with severe resistance. Already she sensed the offensive attempt of the Padawan, having only avoided the attack through her own mental assault. Time however was running short, for both Jedi.

Acting fast, Rasu gathered her strength before launching a series of attacks against the barrier, hoping to wear down her student's concentration and locate a weak spot in the mental defense. Tendrils sharpened to create points of steel, clashed against the solid walls that blocked the sanctuary of Barinthus' mind. Repeating the motion again and again, Rasu hoped to eventually create an opening where she could gain the upper hand. While she hoped for her student to win at the end of the day, the trial did not require a victory from the tested. Rasu was sure that their duel would not end here, and that many more opportunities would be presented for her to assess. However with thoughts aside, Rasu continued with her barrage.

He could feel all of it while laying there with the mental assault while he held his head. moving on the ground while he was looking up at the ringing in his head. He had taken a risk with the lack of stronger defenses in exchange for his body to let speed and gravity slam into the jedi master. He rolled over looking up at her while she was there before his hand was pounding the floor. "Owww." He laid there looking up with the puffy eye at the light for a bit while he laid back. "I yeild." He hadn't been expecting to win against his master, not yet at least. He was still a padawan after all but it was one hell of a fun fight as he spoke. "That was fun."

Like glass shattering, Rasu broke through the mental defenses of Barinthus, allowing her full access to the man's memories and motor control. However the Master's success arrived as a shock, not expecting to have actually gained control over her student. Immediately relenting control and abandoning the mental battle, Rasu turned to face the fallen Padawan, only now relaxing from his cradled position. She smiled softly as the Padawan yielded victory to the Shi'ido however her smile ebbed only sympathy. While the trials did not require a victory, it would be Rasu who would determine the result of this trial and then it would be the Assembly's role to overlook the results of all five trials before ascending the Jedi to Knighthood.

Overall Rasu had been pleased with the results, however in her mind the duel had yet to show the full range of her student's skills. The reason perhaps came down to the fact that it was Rasu he was fighting. While she knew he would not hold back, Barinthus would never truly attempt to harm someone whom he cared for. While it was a great redeeming quality, it would not help the Padawan in his trials. Therefore she turned to the young man, offering his last chance before she would determine the overall result of his first trial.

"That was good Barinthus, but not great." She said, sitting down next to her student. "Take your time, but I would like for you to recall your most challenging battle yet. Whether it be on the field of war, or between another Padawan, or dare I say even a Sith. I'm not after physical confrontations either. What I am askinng of you is to recall a difficult challenge that you have overcome using what the Order has taught you." Leaning back, Rasu noticed she was a tad out of breath, chuckling silently as she realised she too had not held back in that previous duel. "Take your time, and provide me with a detailed recollection."
