Well, actually as a jedi you might want to consider hoining the jedi order, found here: http://starwarsrp.net/forum/2739-the-jedi-order/
The jedi are historicly defenders of the republic and many, like Mantic, often find themselves supporting the democratic republic and might even be living inside it. But the jedi order is looking to support other "good hearted" factions as well.
If you are interested in having your character support the republic that is no problem however, but we dont have a structured order that the republic commands so to speak.

Welcome to the GR. As Mantic said, The Jedi Order serves the Republic - but is in a sense a separate entity - so lives somewhere slightly differently.
So there is always Republic stuff to do here - and Jedi matters happen on the Jedi Order site (that Mantic pointed you to).
