If an unique canon item is not on this list (located in the Factory Information subforum of the Factory Discussion Forum) then it is not claimed and safe to do a thread to search for.

As of right now, no, it is not claimed. Feel free to go after it.

Keep in mind that to claim a canon item you must do a thread obtaining the item, then submit that item to the factory in order to place a request for it to be added to the list.

Also keep in mind that the list is not IC information. No character has access to the information on that list, it is solely to keep track of how many canon items each individual writer "owns" as they cannot have more than 5 items per writer account (that means you can have 2000 characters and still be restricted to a total of 5 canon items across all of them).

A writer is only permitted to have 5 canon items regardless of circumstance. One cannot acquire more than that no matter how much development is performed or intelligent the character is.

You are free to do whatever you want with the items you own, whether you allow others to use it (and similarly, they to you) or hide them away, but you cannot claim more than that.
