Medical Supplies (Dells)

For some life was a tragedy, a series of small joys that lead ultimately to an early end. To the greater galaxy at large it was a series of ups, and downs. For a small portion it was simply the good life, and their long lives were filled with laughter, misery was something watched via holo. There was a miniscule sect above that though, and for these people life was simply paradise. You liked it, you bought it, not quite right no need to fix it, throw it away! This was the life Jasper was born into the life of the disgustingly rich.

As his luxury yacht crawled through the neutral territory between Mando space, and the Republic's territory Jasper waited for his guest. He was dressed in a ridiculously expensive suit in a ship that literally dripped with excess. It was a necessary role to play though, and those at the top only respected those who played this game in his opinion. Jasper was an enormous fan of history, and it showed via the massive decorations from by gone ages of different cultures. His favorite pieces were antique weapons, and armors for every piece told a story.

As for the reason for his slow crawl amongst the stars he was awaiting his guest @[member="Delila Castillon"] a leader of a rebellion movement. He'd already joined them secretly, but now he was here to offer something a bit more solid. What was the old adage, to put his money where his mouth was? Besides he needed some good medical supplies if he was to keep up this medic nonsense after all.

Leaning back into a luxuriously soft couch Jasper smiled, and waited. Who knows maybe he'd even actually do some good in the galaxy.

One part of being a quasi-leader(Delila preferred 'rebel wrangler') was doing tasks one found to be annoying. Meeting with rich playboys was one such task. However, these types normally had more money than they knew what to do with. Which caused her to fleece them into supporting the Rebel cause. After all, she had soldiers and the like who had a desire to eat on a regular basis. It wasn't as if they could constantly land on ocean planets and have crab boils every for evening meal -- which wasn't a half bad idea.

Being directed on board by staff, Delila couldn't help but gwak at the antique weapons. There was even an original, very first model of the hold out blaster. The type made from beam tubes. Something she had only read about until now. While she wanted to stay and stare ; more like drool -- there was work to be done. Looking rather poor and plain compared surroundings, Delila continued on.

Her ship had been docked for some time and in all honesty she didn't know what the tour was for. Hangar was a good place as any to conduct business.

Jasper smiled as the his leader in the Rebels joined him in his personal lounge. The encrypted message had spoken of aid, but it was at this moment the red head would realize one of her squad medics was a man of immense wealth. Standing up he walked over to her and took her hand giving it a light kiss in his own attempts at being charming. "Welcome, to my ship. I'm sure your wondering why I asked you to come here, and what I'm trying to offer you. First off, please take a seat."

Opening a bottle of sixty five year old Correllian whiskey Jasper pour them both a glass of it over ice. Taking his own seat Jasper nodded to his servant at the door, "I hope you didn't eat the cooks are making some native dish from Naboo, and from what I understand it is quite the treat." Taking a slow sip he savored the whiskey as it ran over his tongue, it was the perfect blend in his mind.

"As for the what I've brought you here for is an opportunity for the Rebels, and as to the price its simple. I can't fund you directly yet, soon I'll be a position to do that much more freely. For now though I can pass you some very lucrative information, and my asking price is simple, do no harm. I have on a datapad the details of a convoy that will be going past these systems in the next couple of days. There is one particular ship full of medical supplies that you could make quite the use out of. The others contain medical supplies as well, but they include immunizations that are needed by the populace they are being delivered to. Come in ion weapons only disable my ships, but no direct harm. When you board there isn't to be a single death, and if for any reason there is one you will never have this information fall into your hands again."

Stopping for the moment Jasper saw his servant arriving with their steaming food, and the smell was intoxicating to him. Spiced meat cooked in a fine wine, and fresh vegetables. The meat was covered in some type of sauce that eluded him, and rather plump cooked mushrooms. He never questioned his cooks, or his meals he just ate them and enjoyed. "Please try some even if you aren't hungry. I imagine you think all this excess is a bit much, but my staff appreciates the work, and their wages. In the end someone will always end up on top in the galaxy, but as long as you treat the people under you well I fail to see the wrongness of it." He wasn't sure if she'd agree with him on the nature of wealth but, he at least had put the attempt in.

Sipping the smooth whiskey, Delila noted it wasn't bad for whiskey. Thinking of a recent raid, Delila knew this whiskey most likely saw the deadliest virus known throughout the 'Verse. She shuddered a little, hoping that this was safe to drink. Alcohol should have killed whatever might have been breathed inside. Hopefully. Sitting back in the chair during the speak of the medical raid, Delila immediately saw a problem with the situation. Tongue was held until the food was placed in front of them. Not her typical fare for sure.

Chewing thoughtfully on her spiced meat of some sort, nerf probably, Delila didn't quite agree with his words. Typical rich boy, sucking off daddy's money. Born and bred to think credits could solve any issue. Maybe they could. Delila had seen too many horrific acts in her short lifespan to share the same viewpoint.

"Your plan. It has a large flaw. There would be harm brought to the folks needing that medication. You say the one vessel is carrying immunizations. If a vessel has to take medication out to such a planet Force knows they are bad off. Poverty. War torn. Who knows."

"I'm not stealing from the mouths of babes. Have you ever seen the conditions some of these planets are in post-Gulag?"

With a small smile Jasper chuckled a bit, "I couldn't agree more, that is why I said just this one particular ship. it carries doesn't carry a single crate of immunizations. Its all medical equipment, and some bacta. The others aren't to be touched, just hit them with a few ion shots to kill them for a bit. This particular ship is carrying medkits, and medpacs which I've personally seen your supplies you desperately need them. Its formal purpose is just to stock the shelves of a warehouse so nothing in there will be out of anyone's mouth."

taking another bite Jasper leaned back again savoring the flavor. "As for my awareness of post Gulag planets I'm well aware of the suffering. I'm honestly surprised a new virus hasn't taken hold of the galaxy given massive rush of build up in the galaxy. Immune systems aren't prepared anymore for some of the more exotic illnesses. At large we've been lucky it hasn't happened, yet. Besides do you think these independent border worlds really have the money to pay for an entire convoy of medical supplies, and immunization? I'll admit it is damn good public relations, but in the end they get it because its being given to them."

Of course this little venture of charity was actually costing him nothing, the tax breaks alone covered it. That was hardly the point though, and Jasper wanted that point brought home. In truth he was insulted by the idea he was 'stealing from the mouth of babes'. She'd either take the offer, or leave it. Either way the woman was obviously a believer in her cause, and perhaps a bit world weary. He also however most likely deserved most of it. "I'm self indulging yes. I enjoy myself a good time, and expensive things, but I do what I can where I can. Should I stop enjoying my life because others don't as much? Or perhaps I should be giving away every credit to the poor until my company runs dry, and then those free medical supplies never come again. If you don't want the help don't take it, but don't spit on my efforts to make sure your boys got a chance to make it home to their families."

Gritting her teeth, Delila thought he was the one missing her point. Trying not to think of all the ways she could kill the man with the cutlery in front of her, Delila took the napkin from her lap and folded it, placing it back on the lavish tabletop. She was growing old. Especially in her line of work. The older she got, the more battles fought, the more she had realized how valuable her time was. Today it was being wasted.

"Given to the border planets, yes. I refuse to steal medical supplies meant for those planets even if their fate is to wind up in a warehouse until needed. The supplies may be given but the companies aren't lining up to replace stolen supplies. As for the Rebels, I won't let my own soldiers die. I'll find a way."

Raiding a supply ship bound for one of their numerous enemies seemed like a better possibility to herself. She was go back and discuss it, skim the shipping schedule from a computer some where and stage their plan. Delila appreciated the effort put in by Void yet it seemed something the Rebel Alliance would not stand for. Most of their member base came from those poor planets. She refused to alienate such a large base of support.

Standing up from the table,Delila offered a curt nod.

"I appreciate your time Mr. Void. See you on the battlefield."

The entire affair had spun wildly in the most unexpected of directions for Jasper. Sitting back his face twisted in utter surprise, and finally he laughed. "My, my, my, I'm not entirely sure if you're just simply ungrateful, or just don't get it. The shelves are full in that warehouse, these goods were never meant to arrive. My apologizes evidently you must be better supplied then I thought to turn down an offered hand of aid."

He was actually angry, and that surprised him as well. He wasn't in the Rebellion because of their cause, or even to see worlds 'freed', he was just bored, and wanted the excitement. He didn't understand this refusal though, he was offering a gift horse, and she'd spit on it in his mind. This had all spun out of control faster then he'd thought possible, but he also obviously was so far off the Rebellion's viewpoint he doubted they could met somewhere in the middle on this.

"You know I've met your type before, is it just pride that makes you want to refuse my 'rich boy' money? Do you really think these independent worlds are so hard off that they need all the goods? Then why aren't you a charity organization? All I did was offer you some help, and all you did was look down on me for it. I'll see you on the battlefield, obviously I'll bring my own supplies. Good day."

Delila must have misheard or Void had just changed his story. From her perception the independent planets were destitute and these were much needed supplies. Not medical surplus to gather dust in some type of warehouse. However, she might be too angry to admit her own mistake. Or his mistake. Blame Void. Far easier than backtracking and making it appear as if she was crawling back into his good graces. Leaning over the small table, she was face to face with the man, inches away.

"Do bring your own supplies. Remember, if you can't share don't bring any at all"

With one final glare, Delila spun and exited the room.
