Crude, but here's an example of say participating members could put in their ava to have them be recognized of say being such a doctor/healer/corpsman. It's just an example mind you, as it's the best I can do using the limited paint program that came with my laptop.

Of course it could be a small banner underneath the ava...anything really. Just something.

This should open up more opportunities to jump into role plays that otherwise seemed off limits. But do be aware that it doesn't give anyone diplomatic immunity. The only tolerance we may be given is that it would be good propaganda for some factions to allow such doctors to provide humanitarian aid to distressed victims.
I know that we may be playing at times into their hand...but pride aside, we are there for the sick and injured. If the opposition collects some merit points, as long as the needy get humanitarian aid, then that's what we do.

Well, that's the idea. And I'm sure within RPs some doctors will have to abandon patients, be it forced or recalled by their governments... it's all how you want to write your character.

Perhaps we want to cover some general fields? The ones I can see most pressing.

I'm planning to make an ER surgeon. Possibly former military, following his passion for medicine over the uniform.

Do link yourself to a faction, any faction if you are so inclined, especially if you have military medical background.
What we are to do here is create an network. So it may even be that two doctors on opposite side of a conflict may just find themselves working side by side.
I'm thinking even authorized patient (wounded prisoners) exchanges. One doctor to another in the network will almost guarantee that a patient in trade may not be rigged/booby trapped. As in what you stated, the oath before the color of the flag/uniform. It is pretty much what the other interested writers are all in agreement with.

Currently, I'm in an RP that will take me from one end of the galaxy, the Tion Sector to Utapau to answer a patient's call. I will use that RP to the best I can following our guidelines. Although the patient is an ally, the opportunity can present itself within the said rp to encounter enemy wounded. I don't aim to misdirect the story, but if somehow the other writer does present that opportunity I will enact upon it.

We've spoke over Pm's [member="Kaine Australis"] and what you have in mind works well also.

As I stated prior here in this thread, the opportunities for such a volunteer group can help color the background of battlefields, invasions take overs and sieges even, not to mention devastated systems that either were attacked by an entirely different faction or natural phenomenon, that will provide opportunities for doctors/healers of opposing factions to work alongside together in mentioned scenarios.

It doesn't mean doctors will all hold hands and sing harmony notes together, no. I could see some heads doing a little butting and some heated arguments, but only pertaining to the treatments of patients, both allies and enemy wounded.

[member="Fidelis"] , yes I am currently working hard on it through my RPs. I tend to write extensive posts...no quickies, so it does seem I may be stalling. But not.
All my role plays will be based on the concept of 'Doctors without Borders'.

My character is currently on Dagobah...the backdrop is the conflict between the Alliance and First Order. It's a separate RP, but it details one such rescue operation (Alliance medic) and one crash (FO), that inadvertently meet in the swamp.

If you have something in mind hit me up. I figure the only way to make this viable is to write stories about it and draw interest and commitment by writers such as yourself.

Doctors Without Borders has now been listed as a minor faction and is open for any volunteers to join.
