DESCRIPTION
MEDEA is an amnestic drug that comes in varying strengths in order to accommodate a spectrum of uses. Popular in both the underworld and with certain military sects, MEDEA comes in the following classes:
  • Class A: A commonly used amnestic, Class A is the weakest form of MEDEA and considered to be relatively safe for use in the general public. Class A is available in aerosol and injectable form. Using aerial application, a cartridge or a handheld spraying device, Class A MEDEA can reach multiple people at once and is applicable in both closed spaces (rooms and buildings) to public areas (large crowds out and in doors) and can also be used in a dart gun for precision memory wipes. Class A is often used for population control and to clear the memories of bystanders quickly. The side effects of Class A are minimal, wearing off quickly and generally do not require medical attention. Class A erases memories that have occurred up to 6-12 hours before the application.
  • Class B: Another commonly used amnestic, Class B is a slightly stronger variant of Class A MEDEA. Class B is only available in oral and injectable liquid forms and is typically administered via tablet or syringe. Like Class A, Class B is also used to wipe the memories of bystanders or someone who otherwise shouldn’t have seen something. Class B is also administered to those who’ve been through immediate trauma such as soldiers or refugees. The side effects of Class B are minimal, wearing off quickly and generally do not require medical attention. Class B erases memories that have occurred up to 12-72 hours before the application.
  • Class C: A more potent variant of MEDEA, Class C and above should only be administered and surveillanced by properly trained medical personnel. Class C is only available in injectable form and is typically used to destroy the memories of those who’ve been interrogated or otherwise detained. Because Class C can cause paralysis of the extremities, it is suggested that anyone taking Class C be kept under watch until the side effects can wear off. Class C erases memories that have occurred up to 3-14 days before the application.
  • Class D: Even more potent than Class C, Class D is administered in several doses via IV and requires constant medical surveillance for the monitoring of vitals. Class D is often used to counter the effects of psychosis and mental intrusions cause by either trauma, a chemical imbalance or potentially the Force. It is important to note that the effectiveness of Class D depends heavily on the source of the mental anomaly; if the source is something constant (chemical imbalance elsewhere in the body other than the brain, effects of a physical dark side artifact, etc.) then Class D will likely not work well. How far back Class D can erase memories has to do with how many doses are administered over a period of time. Because the effects of class D compound on each other, any dose taken after the initial dose will erase memories further and further. An initial dose will erase up to 2-3 weeks with a fourth dose erasing up to a year of memories. The more doses are administered, the worse the side effects which include sedation, paralysis of extremities to full body and potential for neurological damage. These side effects can be either temporary (last 2-8 weeks) or may become permanent. It is important to note that Class D users may need to undergo medical rehabilitation for paralysis or any new neurological issues that may, ironically, occur due to use of MEDEA.
  • Class E: Class E is the highest class of MEDEA available and must be administered in multiple doses via IV in a proper medical setting with trained medical personnel for the monitoring of vitals. Subjects taking Class E may experience cardiac episodes that could lead to death along with potentially permanent paralysis, catatonia or neurological problems. A full course of class E takes around 6 weeks to fully administer. This class of MEDEA is used for full memory wipes and typically leaves subjects ripe for reconditioning. Both the medical care and reconditioning after a course of Class E are extensive and subjects may be left with permanent damage including cardiac defects. It is possible that after rehabilitation, snippets of old memories may resurface. As an extremely potent drug with great capability and potentially disastrous side effects, Class E is notoriously difficult to get a hold of.
When working with aerosol forms of MEDEA, it is recommended that personal protective gear be used. Those using the aerosol form should be trained in handling aerosol agents, accounting for environmental factors and self-protection so that there is no accidental self-application. While classes A and B are generally considered safe with no lasting side effects, classes C, D and E must be administered by a medical professional trained in the use and monitoring of amnestic drugs. As with any drug, there is a risk of allergic or otherwise adverse reaction, but no such incidences have been recorded to this date. Improper administration of classes D and E can lead to a higher risk of permanent injury or death.
