Meals with a Monster (Nemesis K. Khurshid)

Audrey Thénardier

Crime is a Family Business
While Courascant was often considered a beautiful place to live no one who lived there would say all of it was perfect. Everything they'd ever show on the holonet vids and the advertistments and so forth for the city wide planet would only show the shiney surface, where the more upstanding figures and citizens would live. No one, not even after the Sith had taken over, would show the lower blows of Courascant because of how it was almost a dark reflection of what was seen above.

In the underbelly of the main hubs of the cities present on Courascant was where all manner of crime and shady dealings were done. One such event was about to begin this very night as a privatte car speeder had cruised it's way from the higher levels to the darkened depths. And given how expensive it seemed, there was an obvious cause for some to raise an eyebrow or two to the sight.

The passangers in the speeder were all unseen due to the dense screen of the windows. Only the driver knew there were three present. Two guards, both secretly armed, and one final important person: Lady Audrey Thénardier. She was on her way to a little metting with someone she hoped to make into an associate of sorts with her business; both the legal and the illegal sort she was involved in. While not much was certian for what was in store, she'd been given enough information to brace herself for what was to come. Part of it involved meeting with her contanct, one [member="Nemesis K. Khurshid"] , in a resturant in the under levels of Courascant called the "Bantha's Tracks".

Finally the spedder arrived, having parked just in front of the resturant itself. Only the two guards stepped out first, surveying both the area and the inside of the resteraunt. There were only three customers inside, including the waiter, and none of them were likey to say or notice anything about Lady Thénardier's presence since they likey didn't know who she was. They indicated it was safe before she stepped out and followed them into the Bantha's Tracks.

Once inside her guards, acting on her behalf, called for two private tables next to each other and paid double whatever the bill would be worth. Sure enough two were avliable, one for the men and one privatly for Audrey, where she currently sat and waited, and Mr. Khurshid, whom they now waited for to arrive; even before making any orders.

Darkness seemed to emanate from his very soul. Any force users within a reasonable distance would find themselves even more wary than usual. This was used to his advantage. But others, those without sensitivity, would simply be put off by his appearance. After all, he was a large humanoid reptile. Controlling the masses was far easier when everyone was scared you were going to rip their arms off with ease. However, Nemesis was actually, despite popular belief, a calm soul. Or at least that was the mask he choose to wear for days like this. Days when his true darkness was something that would only get in his way. No, it would not help him now. Only his conniving 'little' mind would do him good in this situation. And his 'lovely' assistant. Said being was practically the opposite of her companion. She was only a little over five feet tall, and seemed to be as well-meaning on the inside as she was on the outside. The human girl was an open book... when her boss allowed her to be, that is.

"We're here sir. I do believe our contacts are already here. Shall we enter?" Tamriel asked, looking at Nemesis with a smile. She received a nod in return. The two slowly exited their taxi and sauntered into the restaurant. They were greeted by a nervous waiter. Well, he appeared nervous. In reality he wasn't. For he knew that these two were friends with the place's chef, Riana. All part of their need to be prepared for every possible contingency. How else had they prepared? Well, for one, the taller of the two was about as dressed as he had ever been before. Cloth wrapped around his groin and the upper parts of his scaly legs. Armored pads covered his shins and part of his bowed knees. In addition he wore a belt and cloak. Tucked into the latter was his newly gained lightclub. Not that he expected to need it. It was simply a precaution. Just like Audrey's guards. One could never truly predict what might happen at a meeting such as this one.

Together they quietly walked over to the private tables. Nemesis understandably could barely fit in the chair. He managed regardless. Next to him Tamriel was awkwardly settling in her seat. It almost seemed to big for her. Or maybe she was simply dwarfed by her friend. "Ah, Lady [member="Audrey Thénardier"], I presume? It is an honor to make your acquaintance. I have been looking forward to our meeting for some time. Shall we get down to business, or do you desire sustenance first?" Nemesis inquired politely. Besides him his assistant was smiling brightly and twiddling her thumbs. It was rather... unprofessional. But when it came down to legal doings, there were few in the Coruscant underworld as good as her. Or so Neme claimed.

A few minutes passed before both Lady Thénardier and her men heard someone enter the resturaunt. Looking her men tensed in sudden fear of what they were seeing while the Lady herself was a bit shocked by the sight. She knew to expect a large reptilian beast of a man from the information, but finally seeing him in-person had been a bit more to swallow than exepcted. He was indimitating to say the least, but Lady Thénardier had dealt with others like him. Some crazed force users and others pure psychoapths that she'd managed to keep under her belt with a decent paycheck and feeding into whatever little hobbies and needs they requested from her.

Once Nemsis and his assitant approched Audrey waited until both were seated. She gave a little nod of her head to both of them before hearing Nemsis himself ask what would the next step be.

"If you don't mind I would like something for now. I'm heading straight back home after this and feel the meal will help for the ride." she answered. Looking at the menus provided Lady Audrey waited until a waiter droid arrived, to which she ordered "I'll have the minock stew with a side of bantha fries. And...a glass of soda." she finished, remembering this wasn't as grand a resturant as she usually attended for these sorts of meetings. After letting Nemesis and his assitant order what they wished she asked "I trust the trip over wasn't an inconvieneice for you, Mr. Khursid?"

During this time Audrey's glance kept moving towards his assistant, someone she found rather pretty. Seeing how nervous she looked while sitting in on a meeting between her employer and a potential business partner must've been awkward for her; unless she was still growing used to such proceedings. Either way she did think her a little attractive, her blue eyes examining her through her thin glasses.

Since when were crime lords (or in this case, ladies) so cute? That was the question that Tamriel was asking herself. Currently she found herself attempting not to stare at their contact. So far she was failing. Red rushed to her cheeks and formed a bright blush. It was then that the waiter came to her 'rescue'. They were ready to order. "I'll have the, uh, Spicy Nexu Pasta with a... glass of water please." For a moment she paused, before blurting out a thank you. Luckily Nemesis had a strong amount of willpower. Otherwise he would have either let out a deep sigh or facepalmed. From what he could tell... his potential partner appeared somewhat interested in his assistant. That could be used to his advantage. "One club sandwich with a side of fries please. Oh, and, if it's no trouble, a shake. One with a fancy straw." How... classy of him. Almost as classy as the classic 'slasher smile' that soon graced his features. Not that he could help it. Vidhvansaka typically had that problem. It was one they were generally aware of, but could do little about. Much like their gravely voice.

"Heh, I feel like I should be the one asking that. Most don't enjoy traveling to this part of Coruscant unless they have to. Not everyone appreciates the business opportunities down here. So let me thank you for making the trip. I sincerely hope you find what you're looking for here," Nemesis said, tipping his head in acknowledgement. Besides him Tamriel started to beam even wider, obviously pleased by how things were going so far. "Yes, thank you so much for coming here, I know you must be busy, so for you to come here to visit us is quite the honor and I-... Forgive me, I'm a bit of a rambler. Allow me to introduce myself: I'm Tamriel Lorrei. I work with all the paperwork and legal things for Mr. Khurshid here."

The shy but returned expressions from Tamriel ammused Lady Thénardier to where she smirked. She could see past the girl's nervous nature that she perhaps had some attraction towards her as she did. Even then Audrey wasn't the shy sort to hide behind nervous giggles and trying to avoid eye contact with others. She faced her diffculties and bemusements head on and right in the eye. She kept that smirk on her while both she and Nemesis ordered their meals. After the waiter had left Audrey pulled a cigar from her jacket but seemed to contemplate actually smoking it. She fiddled with it between the fingers of her right hand while tapping it down on the table like pen as Nemesis spoke.

After both he and Tamerial thanked her for coming, in thier own ways of course, Lady Thénardier gave a calm but cool smiling nod to the assistant before looking back to her employer and saying "It was not real trouble. I'm on Courascant as often as I am on Naboo, or anywhere else for that matter. My business takes me many places, as you can tell." After that she leaned back in her seat, as they waited for the food, before saying "Perhaps we best get down to it while we await our meal." Clearing her throat she sat up and continued with "You're well aware of the extenet my shipping compnay goes throughout the galaxy, correct? I've managed to attain business partners in practically every territorial faction within the galaxy. A fair portion of them depending on the shipments I bring to assist in thier campaigns. Though, of course, this is all a means to an end as it helps me establish agents and contancts within set territories. But now, as I think on it, I've yet to make any true deals with the Sith, whom I'm sure could benefit having a secure trade route installed into thier resources."

CORUSCANT: UNDERBELLY
OBJECTIVE: TALK
T'S OBJECTIVE: LOOK REALLY CUTE
MUSIC: FEAR by BLUE OCTOBER

Usually smoking was a big turn off for Tamriel. Cigarettes were deadly demons, addictive monsters who would ruin you without even trying. Perhaps the girl was biased. Once she herself had drank away her feelings, almost always finding herself at the bottom of some bottle. It had been Nemesis who rescued her. Hence their odd sort of friendship. He kept the woman sober, and in return she took care of paperwork, legal issues, etc. Sometimes she still found herself drinking. It was a work in progress- the act of ending an addiction. So she looked quietly at Audrey's cigarette. Then she turned away to greet the waiter who brought their drinks. It would be a short while before their food arrived. For now they would have to satisfy themselves with beverages and conversation. Or, as in the Lady's case, with smoke. That was fine with Nemesis. He too knew the dangers of substance, just in different ways. After all part of his empire thrived on the spice-loving masses. But he also dealt in more... legal trades. Whatever had money in it was good enough for him.

"Of course. your company is quite famous. Even many of the scum on the lowest levels have heard of you. I'm sure plenty of them would be kissing the ground you walk on if they knew you were here." A slight exaggeration, of course. But flattery could go far. "Which is one of the reasons that I have asked to do business with you. The Sith could benefit heavily from working with one such as you. Of course... you will also find advantages in working with us. Here, on the mid and lower levels, one can find all sorts of... morally challenged trades. Above us on the upper levels one can work with more legal goods. There are opportunities everywhere."
