Maneuverability Rating: 17 (3 DPS)
Hyperdrive: Class 1.0

Strengths:
* Increased Defense Rating - the MCB75a has strong shielding and redundant systems to keep it in the fight longer than other vessels.
* Increased Hanger Capacity - the MCB75a houses a hanger which can ferry and deploy three squadrons of attack craft.

Weaknesses:
* Limited Production - The MCB75a is mainly built for the Galactic Alliance use and very few are available to other organizations outside MCS, the Directorate and the Galactic Alliance.
* Reduced Armament Rating - the MCB75 has a lower armament rating than its predecessor and other ships of its class and size due to the addition of a hanger and its weapon systems dispersion.
* Reduced Sublight Speed - The mass of the vessel makes it less slower than other vessels of its class and size
* Reduced Sublight Maneuvering - The mass of the vessel makes it less maneuverable than other vessels of its class and size
* Jack Of All Trades Master Of None - the vessel has a mixed armament which is dispersed over the ship for engagment in all arcs. It has a smalle hanger but not large enough to stand without carrier escort. It has a small complament of troops but not enough for planetary assault missions. over all it is well suited for any mission profile but does not specialize in any one certain type of naval warfare designation.

Description: The MBC75a is the newest cruiser from the engineering team at Mon Calamari Shipyards. It is designated as a heavy cruiser and designed to be a multi-engagement war ship for any mission profile it is slotted to.

Design:
Based on the successful MBC75, the new a variant utilizes the latest advanced from the engineering teams of Mon Calamari Shipyards to make a better-balanced warship than it's predecessor. Unlike the previous MCB75, which was designed as a stand off vessel for long range engagements, the new variant is better protected but less powerful in the forward fire arc. The MCB75a variant is meant as a main line warship. It retains a lighter long range armament in the forward arc for the same stand off type of naval engagements but offers a mix of weaponry in the flank and aft arcs for a better balance warship. This allows the vessel to be more adaptable and effective in all forms of naval engagements.

Defenses:
The New MBC75a has stronger armor plating over its hull and better weapon arc coverage eliminating the weak flank and aft fire arc weaknesses. Powerful MCS MC1010 Delphus.4-class Shield Projectors cover the MCB75a in overlapping quad redundancy protection. Built on a Ferrocarbon Condensed-matter Composite Starship Frame, the vessel has a degree of flexibility and increased survivability from kinetic damage due tot he nature of the framework and the materials used in its manufacturing. Ablative Neualuquad Ablative Armor Plating wraps the ship giving it slightly better than durasteel's standard protection from damage but not much. The thin layered material offers greater protection but is much thinner than standard armors to make room for more internal systems and redundancies generally the armor is on the same scale as Alusteel armor as far as overall protection. Anti-ion weapon defense is handled by a series of capacitor drains and de-ionizers, They work to help with localized ionic spatial phenomenon in addition to their defensive duty against ion based weaponry. Networking and system transmission lines are secured with redundant monitoring and anti-hacking systems and are equipped with socket guards to assist in slicing defense.

Armaments:
Offensively the MBC75a variant is slightly less powerful over all, and much less powerful in the forward arc. The long range weapons of the MBC75 have been modernized and combined in a battery mount. This allows more weapons to share power and redundant supply and regulation systems.

Twelve MC-TLR 1004 Thresher-class Long Range Batteries make up the long range offensive power of the vessel. Eight of these are position on the prow and limited to the forward arc but two each are positioned on the dorsal and ventral hull which can engage in the fore, aft, and ventral arcs. Twenty Rhongomyniad-class Mass Driver Cannon Batteries allow the MBC75a to engage with more kinetic power than any Mon Cala ship has in the past. Fourteen of these kinetic weapon batteries as positioned on the prow and limited to the forward arc. The remaining six are installed on the mid ship dorsal hull covering the fore and flank arcs. Twenty MC-t1002 Orca-class Turbolaser Cannon Batteries and twenty MC-t1003 Galeus-class Ion Cannon Batteries are positioned along the flank rims of the vessel and can fire into the fore, aft, and flank arcs. Two MCS1020 Sea Hawk Heavy Torpedo Launcher Batteries are positioned on the port and starboard flanks just in front of midships and fire into the forward arc. These batteries house six MCS1020 Sea Hawk Heavy Torpedo Launchers each and fire only in the forward fire arc.

Defensively the MBC75a is equipped with a powerful suite of defensive batteries for both passive and active defense. The first of the defense systems are the six MC-d1001 Tarpon-class Heavy Defense Batteries Four of these batteries are installed on ventril hull and two on the dorsal hull covering the fore, aft, and flank fire arcs.. These large heavy defensive systems house two light short ranged turbolasers for heavy attack craft and corvette defense and eight rapid fire laser cannons for smaller attack craft and incoming warhead interception. Aiding this are six KD12-1 "Interceptor" Defensive Batteries. One each is positioned on the dorsal and ventril hull and two each on the flank rims covering the fore, aft, and ventral arcs. These systems launch a variable array of defensive countermeasures meant to interdict attack craft and warheads before they can reach the vessel. Rounding out the defensive weaponry are ten LLT-12 Erebus Jamming Arrays. These powerful "EWAR" Electronic Warfare systems are used to deter the enemies ability to attack the vessel. These force multiplier weapon systems do no actual damage but make a vessel far more effective in battle.

Complement:
The new MCB75 has an increased attack craft complement than the previous variant but now as large as the first of the type. The new MCB75a falls between the two and houses three squadrons of attack craft in a midship hanger area. This hanger is open to both sides of the vessel for rapid deployment of its ferried complement. This hanger is also large enough to house three large freighters or drop ships when needed. It has a larger troop complement that the MCB75 for minor assault missions but not enough for planetary invasions.

History:
The new MCB75a is a contract ship designed for the Galactic Alliance and the third vessel of the Scythe type to be constructed. The previous MCB75 was designed for long range combat and has been very effective in that role and proven in many engagements through out the galaxy. The First of the Scythe type ships was designed and built over eight hundred years ago and was very effect and heavily armed for a ship its size often taking on and beating vessels tree times it's size. The MCB75a varies from the former variants all forward design to better suit multiple mission profiles. While the majority of these vessels will be constructed at Sluis Van for the Galactic Alliance, a number will be sent to the Directorate and Mon Cala defense fleet to bolster their fleets. A few will be added to the MCS library for selected customers and provided on a select base of customers on a build to suit basis.
