STRENGTHS
  • Cluster Bomb Launchers - A primary armament that is capable of being utilized as both an offensive and defensive means, these launchers deploy specialized munitions which when detonated, create a cloud of shrapnel which is dangerous to Starfighters and Bombers.
  • Agile - The MC60c was designed around speed and maneuverability and as such is a relatively nimble and agile vessel for a craft of its size. These vessels are capable of achieving higher sublight speeds and acceleration compared to vessels of a similar size, as well as being capable of executing maneuvers that many larger vessels or craft in the same category would have difficulty accomplishing.
  • Automation - Like many other vessels produced by Aether Systems, these craft are outfitted so that many of the secondary and tertiary systems are automated, allowing for the vessels to be crewed with a smaller complement of personnel while also freeing said personnel up from tedious tasks.
WEAKNESSES
  • Cluster Bomb Launchers - Though effective against enemy Starfighters and Bombers, they are just as effective against allied craft as well, making their deploying just as dangerous to friendly forces as they are to enemies. Additionally, any remaining munitions that have been deployed and not detonated pose a risk to vessels that may pass through an area hours, days, or even months after an engagement, necessitating that the munitions be recovered or detonated after deployment.
  • Starfighter Support - To accommodate more powerful engine systems, additional power plants, munitions magazines, and armaments, the MC60c is notably lacking in its capability to carry or deploy starfighters. This often necessitates their reliance upon Fleet Carriers or Pocket Carriers to provide additional starfighter support while performing escort duties.
  • Automation - These systems are highly vulnerable to Ion-based weaponry as well as weaponry designed to disable or destroy electrical systems. If these systems were disabled, disrupted, or otherwise destroyed, it would place greater stress on the crew, potentially rendering the vessel inoperable or otherwise affecting its overall operational effectiveness.
DESCRIPTION
As the Galactic Alliance continues to regain its footing following the Stellar Convergence, the need for reliable warships to bolster and secure Alliance space remains paramount. While vast fleets of relief supplies and reinforcements are shifted and maneuvered throughout Alliance space, the need to protect these vulnerable and resource-laden vessels is a high priority for the Galactic Alliance Defense Force, necessitating the development and deployment of an appropriate Escort vessel. Accepting such a challenge, Aether Systems has introduced the MC60c Frigate, a vessel that shares the design aesthetics of many Mon Calamari designs and is considered the successor to the older and successful MC30c. Designed with a focus on speed and maneuverability, the MC60c is arguably more agile than its predecessors, capable of reaching higher sublight speeds and acceleration compared to similarly sized vessels. Likewise, its maneuverability ensures that it is capable of executing precise maneuvers that larger vessels or craft in its same category would have difficulty accomplishing.

However, the speed and maneuverability of these vessels came at a cost, specifically, regarding its defensive capabilities. The MC60c is notable for its lack of heavier armor plating or extensive defensive measures that other Frigates are often known to employ. Due to this, concentrated heavy fire targeting these vessels has the potential to cripple the craft if not outright destroy the vessel. Likewise, the room needed to include more powerful engines and sublight drives, as well as additional power systems and armaments has resulted in a vessel that is otherwise incapable of supporting or deploying any Starfighter Squadron or Support Craft Squadron. This often requires that the MC60c rely heavily upon Fleet Carriers or Pocket Carriers for additional Starfighter support during Escort Missions. Despite this, where the MC60c shines is in the aforementioned heavier armaments, specifically the Cluster Bomb Launchers, a specialized armament that can be utilized in equal measure for offense just as much as defense. This weapon does not come without its drawbacks, as the cluster bombs that are deployed are just as much a threat to enemy starfighters and bombers as they are to flights of friendly craft; and due to their inability to denote or identify friend from foe, it necessitates that they be properly disposed or recovered to prevent unwanted civilian collateral damage.

Like many of the more recent vessels being produced by Aether Systems, the MC60c Frigate is also a highly automated vessel, with many of the secondary and tertiary systems being automated to allow for a smaller crew to maintain the operational effectiveness of the vessel. These systems, however, are highly susceptible to Ion-based weaponry or armaments designed to disable or disrupt electrical systems which can cause a greater hindrance to the crew should these systems be rendered inoperable. Despite the noted drawbacks, the MC60c nonetheless provides the Galactic Alliance with a mainline Frigate that is more than capable of providing ample protection and strike capabilities for those fleets that it is attached to escort.
