MAZHARA VANTHEX

Species: Iridonian Zabrak
Gender: Female
Height: 1.70 meters
Weight: 59 kilograms
Force Sensitive: Yes — Sith Apprentice
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Mazhara Vanthex is a young Iridonian Zabrak whose appearance does little to evoke the image of a conventional Sith. Slender and softly built, she possesses pale, almost porcelain-colored skin contrasted by dark braided hair and a small crown of reddish horns. Her amber-red eyes provide perhaps the clearest outward indication of the darkness she has embraced.
She favors dark clothing when accompanying her Master into the field: fitted leathers, layered fabrics, utility belts, gloves, and lightweight protective pieces that leave her mobile rather than heavily armored. She carries herself cautiously, rarely attempting to make herself appear larger or more threatening than she actually is.
At home, Mazhara's appearance is considerably softer. She frequently exchanges traditional Sith clothing for comfortable civilian garments or medical attire while tending to her Master. Her wardrobe occasionally possesses a deliberately playful or teasing quality, an unusual contrast to the grim surroundings of Sith ruins, ancient libraries, and her Master's austere residence.
Mazhara's expressions tend to betray her emotions more readily than she would prefer. Concern, curiosity, uncertainty, and affection can often be read upon her face before she manages to hide them.

- Datapad containing medical records and artifact notes
- Archaeological and excavation tools
- Protective gloves and artifact-handling equipment

Much of Mazhara's specialized equipment belongs technically to her Master. She nevertheless maintains his medical equipment, life-support technology, and powered combat suit and has become intimately familiar with their operation.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Mazhara is an unlikely Sith.
Demure, soft-spoken, and naturally deferential, she lacks the overt aggression and hunger for dominance commonly associated with Sith apprentices. Confrontation makes her uncomfortable, and she would usually prefer to avoid a fight rather than prove herself through one. When surrounded by stronger personalities, Mazhara has an unfortunate tendency to allow herself to be pushed around.
This should not be mistaken for an absence of ambition.
Mazhara possesses an intense fascination with the history of the Sith. Ancient temples, forgotten teachings, holocrons, relics, and the personal histories of long-dead Sith Lords capture her imagination far more effectively than conquest or political power. She views knowledge as something tangible and precious. Where another Sith might destroy a tomb after taking its greatest treasure, Mazhara would rather catalogue everything inside it.
Her relationship with her Master further complicates her understanding of Sith philosophy. His premature physical deterioration has forced Mazhara to witness vulnerability where Sith teachings tell her there should only be strength. Outside of missions she serves almost as much as his nurse and caretaker as his apprentice, administering medication, monitoring his health, maintaining his equipment, preparing meals, and keeping their residence and extensive library in order.
She is deeply devoted to him. Whether that devotion represents loyalty, affection, dependency, or another form of attachment is something Mazhara herself has difficulty defining.
Mazhara believes emotion gives the Force meaning, but she has never accepted that anger must be the only emotion worthy of a Sith. Fear, attachment, curiosity, affection, desperation, and even grief can be equally powerful. This interpretation places her somewhat outside traditional Sith thinking, even if she remains firmly committed to learning the ways of the dark side.
STRENGTHS
- Quiet Endurance: Mazhara possesses the natural physical resilience of a Zabrak combined with considerable emotional patience. She may appear fragile, but getting her to actually give up is remarkably difficult.
- Keeper of Forbidden Things: Mazhara has developed considerable knowledge of Sith history, archaeological practices, ancient languages, relic identification, and the precautions necessary when dealing with potentially dangerous artifacts.
- Caretaker: Necessity has given Mazhara practical medical experience. She is particularly skilled at monitoring chronic conditions, administering treatment, stabilizing injuries, and operating the specialized systems that keep her Master alive and functional.
- Subtle Force User: Mazhara gravitates toward perception, telekinesis, sensing emotions, and precise applications of the Force rather than spectacular displays of destructive power. Her control often exceeds what observers expect from such an apparently timid apprentice.
- Easy to Underestimate: Mazhara neither looks nor behaves particularly threateningly. Opponents frequently mistake reluctance for incapability, giving her opportunities a more openly aggressive Sith might never receive.
WEAKNESSES
- Reluctant Combatant: Mazhara does not enjoy violence and can hesitate when decisive aggression would be the safer option. She is particularly uncomfortable with killing someone who no longer presents an immediate threat.
- Dependent: Her relationship with her Master defines an enormous portion of Mazhara's life. She is his apprentice, nurse, assistant, archivist, and companion. The prospect of losing him frightens her more than she is willing to admit.
- Not a Warrior: Mazhara has received lightsaber training and can defend herself, but she is neither an exceptional duelist nor an experienced battlefield combatant. Dedicated martial Sith considerably outclass her in a straightforward fight.
- Too Curious: Telling Mazhara that an ancient Sith artifact should never be opened is an excellent way to ensure she spends the next several nights determining precisely why.
- Soft Heart, Dark Path: Compassion and Sith philosophy make uncomfortable companions. Mazhara's instinct to care for people can conflict directly with what her Master, other Sith, or simple survival demand of her.
HISTORY
Mazhara Vanthex was born on Iridonia, though there was little during her childhood to suggest that she would eventually become Sith. She possessed the resilience expected of her species but comparatively little of the aggression others associated with it. Mazhara was quiet, observant, and fascinated by stories of the past. She was far more likely to investigate an abandoned structure than challenge someone to a fight.
Her sensitivity to the Force eventually ensured that an ordinary life would not last.
Mazhara's future Master discovered her during his own pursuit of ancient Sith knowledge. He was already an accomplished seeker of relics, traveling between forgotten temples, private collections, archaeological sites, and worlds whose connection to the Sith had disappeared from conventional histories.
Something about Mazhara interested him.
Perhaps it was her Force sensitivity. Perhaps it was her curiosity. Perhaps he simply recognized that the frightened young woman before him possessed considerably more endurance than she realized.
He took her as his apprentice.
Her training was unusual from its beginning. Mazhara learned the lightsaber and the dark side, but her Master devoted just as much attention to history, languages, archaeology, and the identification of artifacts. Their journeys became lessons conducted inside tombs rather than training halls. Mazhara learned that knowing which inscription not to translate could be considerably more valuable than knowing how to cut down another acolyte.
Then her Master began to deteriorate.
His decline came far too early. A man who should have possessed decades of strength ahead of him instead found his body progressively betraying him. Whether the condition resulted from disease, accumulated exposure to Sith artifacts, an experiment, or something stranger remains uncertain.
Technology compensated where flesh failed.
A formidable powered suit allows Mazhara's Master to continue accompanying her on expeditions and, when necessary, fight with something approaching his former strength. Wearing it carries its own cost, however. Away from missions he is considerably more vulnerable and increasingly dependent upon treatment.
Mazhara adapted.
The apprentice became a caretaker.
She learned his medications and medical equipment. She learned how to service the systems of his armor and recognize subtle changes in his condition. She prepared his meals, maintained their residence, catalogued their collection, and spent countless nights surrounded by the accumulated knowledge of dead Sith while her Master slept nearby.
Their search for artifacts continued.
Initially, Mazhara believed they might discover something capable of curing him. She still hopes they will.
But the longer their search continues, the more Mazhara finds herself fascinated by the knowledge they uncover for reasons entirely her own.
Somewhere among those forgotten tombs and forbidden archives, the quiet apprentice has begun building something she never intended to possess:
A legacy independent of her Master.
