PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Maur stands at 7’4”, slightly taller than average for female Togorians. She leads an active lifestyle and keeps in shape for the most part. As a mercenary, Maur has earned a few scars that cut through her fur though these are typically covered by a high-collared sleeveless shirt and loose pants. A red sash around her waist with a gunbelt and holster sit on top.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
In spite of what her looks and stature would have most believe, Maur is a gentle soul at heart. She doesn't kill unless safety and survival demand it: then she kills without hesitation. Maur is incredibly family-oriented, but tries to never be overbearing with it. Mercenary work has seen her develop a constant state of vigilance and certain habits that have kept her alive. Her loyalty is hardwon but undying once earned. The gloves come off when her family—found or biological—is threatened.
STRENGTHS
- Ride or Die—Maur's sense of loyalty can't be bought and once earned knows no bounds. This also has the potential to backfire on her but it hasn't yet.
- I Meant What I Said and I Said What I Meant—Maur's word is her law. If she says she'll do something, she'll do it.
- Jack of All Trades—Living alone and taking freelance jobs means Maur's had to learn a bit of everything necessary: piloting, navigation, marksmanship, tracking, cooking, survival, and coding
WEAKNESSES
- Pride Before a Fall—It is deceptively easy to insult Maur and her sense of pride: she takes criticism about any of her skills personally and woe to the being that questions her loyalty or trustworthiness
- Hell Hath No Fury—Generally, Maur is slow to anger but when she is angry, everyone knows it. Much of her common sense goes out the window when rage is all she sees.
- Silent as the Grave—Maur cannot speak or even make a sound. This makes communication with most people very difficult and a frustrating experience for Maur.
HISTORY
During adolescence, Maur became ill with a disease that affected her vocal chords. As she had been on a hunt with her father, it was some time before she received medical treatment. The disease was eradicated but the damage had been done: Maur could no longer speak or even make a sound. Her mother adapted as best they could, inventing hand signals and gestures to communicate but it wasn’t until Maur began her adult life as a spacer that she encountered Standard Sign Language and devoted her energy to learning it.
Maur makes a living by taking odd jobs, primarily as security or a hired gun on starships. Occasionally, she’ll take a job on a planet but it is never for long. Her disability makes it difficult to find jobs and she has often given thought to a vocoder implant. However, creds are hard to come by at this time in her life.
