OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a heavy assault and breakthrough vehicle for the Commonwealth's Armed Forces, designed to reduce fortified positions and anchor armored advances
  • Canon Link: N/A

  • Primary Source: Matilda I
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Imperial Commonwealth of Dosuun
  • Affiliation: Imperial Commonwealth of Dosuun
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Model: CVT-HAVMT-M2 "Matilda II"
  • Modularity: Yes
  • Production: Minor
  • Material: Reinforced durasteel hull; layered composite ablative armor; internal shock-frame; ceramic spall liners; heat-baffled weapon housings; sealed crew capsule
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Tank (Heavy Assault Vehicle)
  • Role: Breakthrough; fortified-position reduction; armored spearhead anchor
  • Size: Very Large
  • Weight: Very Heavy
  • Armaments: Very High
    • Twin Heavy Laser Cannons (fixed forward mount)
      • Primary armament; synchronized sustained fire against bunkers, heavy armor, and hardened targets. The fixed mount trades turret traverse for stability and accuracy, which improves the longer the platform stays in position.
    • Coaxial Heavy Repeating Blaster (forward hull)
      • Anti-infantry and suppression; clears approach vectors during an advance.
    • Remote Defense Turrets (2x Light Repeating Blasters)
      • Close-range defense against infantry, drones, and boarding attempts.
    • Heavy Countermeasure Launchers
      • Multi-spectrum smoke, EM obscurants, and thermal decoys to cover a slow advance.
  • Defenses: Very High
    • Layered composite / ablative armor (the platform's primary survivability)
    • Directional front-arc deflector shielding (localized, burst use — tactical, not continuous)
    • Internal damage compartmentalization
    • Redundant power and active fire suppression
  • Maneuverability Rating: Low
  • Speed Rating: Low
  • Propulsion: Tracks (reinforced heavy treads with obstacle-clearing torque bias)
  • Minimum Crew: 3
  • Optimal Crew: 4 (driver, gunner, systems officer, commander)
  • Passenger Capacity: None
  • Cargo Capacity: Small (ammunition, spares, engineering tools)
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Fixed-forward twin-cannon stabilization cradle (near-zero recoil drift; accuracy increases with sustained engagement)
  • Siege fire-control mode (sustained fire with active thermal regulation)
  • Commonwealth BattleNet datalink (relies on Hound-type scouts and infantry for situational awareness around its blind arcs)
  • Armored glacis designed for frontal breach operations
  • Self-recovery winch and hull-mounted dozer edge (obstacle clearance, expedient breaching)
  • Deterrence profile (silhouette, heat signature, and acoustic profile calibrated for presence, not terror theatrics)
STRENGTHS
  • Exceptional frontal survivability: built to take punishment and keep advancing; armor, not gimmicks, keeps it alive.
  • Devastating anti-fortification firepower: excels against bunkers, hardened armor, and static defenses.
  • Stable firing platform: the fixed cradle means accuracy improves the longer it stays engaged in a prepared assault.
WEAKNESSES
  • Slow and deliberate: requires constant screening by Selim-type and Hound-type units; without them it is a fixed target.
  • Limited firing arc: fixed cannons demand careful positioning and combined-arms support; it cannot react to a flank it isn't already facing.
  • Logistics-heavy: maintenance, transport, and deployment are resource-intensive, which is why it is fielded in numbers only where a breakthrough is genuinely needed.
DESCRIPTION
The Matilda II-type Heavy Assault Vehicle is the deliberate exception to Commonwealth armored doctrine, not a contradiction of it. The Commonwealth builds its ground forces around maneuver, sensor dominance, and combined arms the Selim wins by being first to see and first to move, not by out-massing the enemy. But hard lessons in urban sieges and against fortified planetary capitals proved that some defenses simply cannot be maneuvered around; they have to be broken. Where the earlier Matilda I served as a light tank in the First Order's formative years, the Matilda II inherits the name and inverts the role: it exists to end the fights that lighter armor cannot, methodically and with overwhelming frontal force.

In combat, the Matilda II advances as the anchor of an armored push, absorbing fire on its glacis while delivering sustained punishment against hardened targets. Its fixed twin cannons favor stability and reliability over flexibility, making it devastating in a prepared assault but wholly dependent on its escorts for flank security the Commonwealth never deploys a Matilda II alone. Selim-type MBTs maneuver on its flanks while Hound-type vehicles screen threats and feed targeting data through BattleNet. The result is a slow but inexorable advance that breaks defenses without resorting to orbital devastation: the physical embodiment of the Commonwealth's preference for occupation over annihilation.
