HISTORY

Master Orik had been brought to the Jedi Order as a toddler. There were no memories of what came before. Not family. No friends. Not even a home planet. The order was family and home. As he grew, Orik became a youngling, finding many friends among his peers before being chosen as the padawan of Jedi Knight Alaric. Through the years, he earned warrior status with his dedication to training and discipline. His studies with his master, who achieved the rank of master, taught him the intricacies of the Living Force. Orik grew in strength, in the Force, and in wisdom.

When he was granted Knighthood, Orik accepted the title of a Jedi Temple Guardian. For years he served as an anonymous protector of three separate Jedi temples until a decade passed and he was released from his duties. As a skilled combatant, Knight Orik was sent on missions in theaters that carried the most chance of conflict. Despite his martial skill, he used his diplomatic abilities to end many conflicts, finding paths to mutually acceptable compromise. During this time, Orik took his first padawan, Allyce Soren, and they engaged in many adventures.

After the knighting of his padawan, Orik received the title of Master. He spent the next decade teaching classes at several temples while training his second padawan, Nod Rey. As an accomplished Jedi Guardian, he worked under the Jedi Battlemaster and was sent to Jedi temples for the training of the Guardians. The prevalence of the dark side was rising, and several Sith orders rose to prominence. Hence the need for greater security for the temples and enclaves.

Nod Rey became a Jedi Knight, and Master Orik took a third padawan, Glarus. Glarus, much like Orik before him, was a very young initiate without memory of what came before he was taken to the Jedi Order. Quickly, he learned every lesson and came to challenge his master at every turn. Instead of being frustrated with his padawan, Orik felt the stirring of paternal affection. Soon the Council took notice of their effectiveness and began sending them across the galaxy, where they began encountering swarms of Sith. Not every meeting ended in bloodshed, but enough did for Orik to petition the Council for a group of Jedi, specifically trained for warfare with dark siders. Tentatively, the motion was granted.

Nearly fifty Jedi knights and masters heeded his call. The rest of the order gave the group a nickname. The Order of the Hand. Their exploits became famous for offering the hand of peace, or, in the face of the enemy, the hand could be closed into a fist to shatter their foe.

After several years, the order was disbanded with concern for their more militant campaigns against dark siders. A gentler approach became the new course of action for their Order.

And then the Sith began smashing Jedi temples and Enclaves. While Master Orik again petitioned for the Order of the Hand to be reinstituted, the Council believed that such a command would lead many to the dark side.

But with each destruction of their temples, the murder of countless knights, and the abduction of younglings inevitably bound for Sith academies to ensure brainwashing and torture, the need for the Jedi to strike offensively grew. But the Council refused, choosing to be reactionary rather than offensive. Growing disenfranchised with the Jedi Order, Master Orik reached out to the surviving members of his group, seeking kindred souls of like mind.

For the Jedi to survive, for peace to reign, for democracy to thrive, they must act. Their brown Jedi robes were left at the feet of the Council. The group departed from peaceful planets and left behind the hope that redemption for dark siders was possible. And that sometimes the only way to win was to carry the bigger stick and be willing to use it.

Gone were the pacifist ways. Banished was the hope for redemption for darksiders. Erased was the mercy the Jedi believed in, while no mercy was shown for them. If the Sith wanted destruction and mayhem, the group decided they would oblige. And though they knew their actions and deeds would damn them, they held to a central tenet.

The needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few.

And if lasting peace and the destruction of the Sith cost them their souls, it was a price they would gladly pay. They would answer death with death—atrocity with even greater atrocity. Until the Sith either accepted a stalemate paid for in the blood of their followers or even the great thrones of their Kings, Emperors, and High Lords would be bathed in the lifeblood of their monarchs and leaders. Either way, the group had sworn justice and vengeance would be theirs.

The Order of the Hand rose like a Phoenix.
No longer would a hand of peace be offered. Only the first.
And thus, the Order of the Fist was born. To smash the enemies until nothing remained.

First, the Fist made allies with unaffiliated planets, forming strongholds while using these bases for recruitment. Then their influence began to spread, subtly at first, to planets with pockets of Resistance and rebellion. Next, they approached several small extremist groups who had suffered at the hands of the oppressors and lost family and friends to the crimson blades of the Sith. And finally, they made pacts and agreements with multiple mercenary bands, pirate havens, and other guns for hire, promising riches and glory for those who enlisted with their cause.

Now Master Orik knew there were three things they needed. Finances. Turncoats. And a large impression for their first act of war to ripple across the galaxy with a powerful statement.

We will not bow.
We will not surrender.
We will not be broken.
We will not be defeated.

War was coming. And the Order of the Fist was bringing it home to the Sith.
