Master of the Outer Rim Tournament!

The sands danced and fluttered along the ground, the sight of moonlight glittering the sands of Sirluur as an uproar boomed around, destroying the tranquil sight as the screams of energy blasted throughout, the Arena, lights polluting the sky with fireworks and other expensive decorations.

"Good Day everybody! Today we have a spectacle for you all tonight!" a voice rung from inside, bouncing around through speakers as Thraxis sat in the booth, his hands clasped together as he spoke, looking down at the crowd, it seemed the word was true, the Cartel had truly died. He recalled when their would be nary a seat deserted as epic battles took place but now it was nothing more then a shell of a corpse, rotting in the sands of time. "Now, most of you were expecting a bloodbath, a horror show were we put prisoners against beasts all over the galaxy but alas." he took a pause, energy and hype had filled each letter that came from his breath as a tear formed in his eye. It seemed it was time to leave the Cartel, though he wouldn't leave without an epic ending.

"Tonight, I have a little something different for you all to indulge in! I have gathered some big names from around the galaxy, as well as some underdogs too! Tonight, they battle for your entertainment!" he yelled as he let the word roll around his mouth for a bit before explaining the rules.

"Now then, in this tournament, there are few rules! The first, is no Force or Shenanigans. Shenanigans being Missiles from space. That is a no-no." a pulse of energy bouncing through his lips as he turned to one of the men in the room, nodding his head. In a pulse of light a missile directed itself towards the arena, the crowd starting to panic before being destroyed by an Anti-Air missile, erupting in an explosion of confetti and light. "Now then, as for the Force, I have taken the liberty of getting quite the large Colony of Ysalamir from their home world. So no devilry can take place." He said with a crack of the knuckles.

He paused for a second, letting the buzz of the crowd peek before interrupting them, "Now then! Some of you may wonder what do they fight for!" he paused as he pulled out a large suitcase, and looking down on it, filled with Credits in physical form, because they had more for an appeal. "An amazing sum, one that could rival the very Cartel itself, Five Million Credits!" he said as he heard another pop from the crowd.

Kay was seated in the crowd. She had heard rumours of this event and wanted to see if it was true. She had made it just in time. Instead of wearing her usual attire of a high class merchants dress, she wore slacks and shirt, covered by a mid-length jacket. Her satchel was ever present, however.

When [member="Thraxis"] was finished she got to her feet and shouted, loud so that her nemesis could hear. "I choose YOU as my opponent, Thraxis!! Hand to hand combat!" That would more than likely surprise him. She moved from the crowd and then jumped into the arena. It was okay that she couldn't use the Force. She hid her abilities a lot anyways.

Kay placed her hands on her hips as she awaited his answer.

Filius was standing in the shadows at the back of the arena, watching through his cybernetic eye. Lady Kay, the woman he ahd met when he arrived on Nar Shadaa some time ago, had just challenged Thraxis, another person he knew.

This ought to be interesting, Filius thought.

As eh looked around he heard an echo, that faint voice erupt from the noise of the crowd, his eyes peered though the crowd. This... this has already gotten to a strange start. he thought to himself as his fingers ran along the dashboard. He pondered for a bit. His hands ruffling through papers to see his line up. His eyes narrowed. Someone had not arrived, leaving only seven contestants. An odd number was not desirable in this unless he wanted a Triple Threat match. Though Kay had brought an interesting proposition to say the least.

"Kay." he retorted, both in the sense he was accepting, as well as saying her name. Something he had always wanted to do. In a flare of his boots he kicked himself out of the booth, glass shattering around him as he jumped into the arena with a Heavy Stomp. His knuckles cracked as he threw of his Coat, revealing the skeleton, his armor that always accompanied him. Strapped to the Sides were his two Pistolas. He cracked his neck with and an audible crunch as he looked towards her with menace hidden behind his armor.

He paused for a second, if only it was recorded. This may well be apart of some ingenious plan to get him kicked out of Justice Shipping, but there was always an air of malcontent towards him. "Kay, I want you to be aware. James couldn't stop me. Even now. With an entire army under his wing he could not stop me. You have in short. Signed your own death warrant." he said with the crack of his fingers as he crouched down, his hands placid in his lap as his head bobbed back and fourth.

He knew her arsenal well. A blaster set to stun. Possibly a light saber. No armor. Nary a thing that could pierce Phirik. On top of that she was frail, she was no combatant which if anything, put an air of worry around her. She was a maverick. she always had something up her sleeve. Though Thraxis was confident he could win.

Kay clenched her jaw as [member="Thraxis"] jumped into the arena, shards of glass scattering behind him. She kept her eyes on him at all times, most especially as he threw off his coat. Armour. Great. Didn't he ever take that off?

She dropped her hands as he crouched and spoke. James did keep Thraxis at bay, but she never knew how long that would last. And now with her brother going through a bit of a depression, he wasn't around to back her up.

"Maybe I have signed my death warrant, or maybe I haven't. I said hand to hand combat. So remove your weapons and your armour. Unless....you think that you need them to defeat me while I am unarmed." She slipped her satchel off of her shoulder and held it out for a dramatic moment before tossing it out of reach. "What'll it be? The first to knock the other one out, wins?"

Kay didn't notice [member="Filius Stellarum"] or anyone else in attendance. Her eyes were only on Thraxis. The man was tricky and sly. She needed to keep this up for as long as possible.

"Kay. I ain't takin' the armor off." he said with a sigh as he stood up, looking down at her with a calm atmosphere, "There are plenty here who came prepared to fight to the death. And now that I am in the contest, I can't just take it off. It will give others the chance to kill me." he said with the crack of his knuckles as he tossed away his Pistolas to the ground, a wave of sand falling to the ground as it was kicked up by the slight impact.

"Not my fault you didn't come prepared. But don't worry. I won't use anything fancy. No Needle, no Boots. Just a good old brawl." his eyes focused on the satchel, a hand slowly moving to his hip as he watched the satchel fall to the ground. "Kay. Why did you bring the satchel? Look around, there are plenty of people who want the prize. And if any of them know its value. Then they will use it against you." he said before lowering his legs, his hands slowly moving to a boxing stance as he watched with venom lacing his every word.

Inside, she frowned as he refused to remove his armour. Well it was worth a shot, anyways. Kay kept her eyes solely on [member="Thraxis"] and his movements. Was he trying to bait her with his words? Possibly.

She lifted her hands, forming them into fists as she went into a defensive stance. "Your contenders only want the credits that you offered. Not my satchel. It holds no value to them." Was he trying to get someone to steal it? Her satchel held nothing of importance to anyone but herself. But maybe that's what he had meant. It was valuable to her and that's all that mattered. It was one of her weaknesses.

Kay relaxed her body, bending her knees slightly in preparation. People were likely to get bored of their banter, but she didn't care. In her mind, she was just preparing herself to take some blows. If anything this was her way of standing up to him and his torture. "Ready when you are...."

"Always ready." he declared as he kicked off, his toes bouncing on the ground as he quickly closed the gap, his eyes narrowing on her posture, she definitely came prepared for a fight. As he dart he raised his fist, a false show of courage as he looked to her knees, they solidified her position, getting her of her feet would be no easy task.

As he made his way through his fist stopped quickly in mid-air, out of reach he quickly dropped, his legs bouncing forward as he went in for a sharp kick to the knees, if he could get her onto the ground he could end this all far quicker. Though if she could get him on the ground he imagined the scenario would end in the same way.

Solan sighed as his hands rubbed an he smiled to himself at the sights that were before him. On him was not much, simple fiber armor that would protect him from any glancing hits he might be treated to, past that though was nothing special in terms of armor. He could have brought more, probably should have but he was far more interested in doing this his own way and not having to lug his body around in a heavy piece of armor without the force to help him.

Thus was probably his biggest detriment. He was here with only his two sabers and a number of vibroknives that were placed on his person. There were ten of them but it mattered not the number as long as he remained accurate in their use. What was more important was who he would face and their skills as well as arsenal. His sabers could handle the more heavily armored ones and the knives would help with the more lightly armored one, but it would still mean he needed to stay out of harm himself.

The moonlight colored sands they stood in, though not necessarily able to see eachother in were more than enough to provide cover for now. That fiber armor suit dark in color to help but there was more to it than that. He could not do much more than to wait for his first target, and thankfully he had an extra set of eyes that was far more capable than his. The small form of his Ashlan Wolf, dark in color as it stood beside him and kept its senses open, watched the sands and sniffed the air as Solan had decided to stay upwind. They would see their enemy first hopefully thanks to the wolf's senses.

Always hold their gaze. That was what she was taught. The eyes always indicated what true intentions were. It was probably why a lot of fighters were helmets or masks. There was something intimidating about not seeing a person's eyes, especially when that person was determined to destroy you.

[member="Thraxis"] looked down to her knees as he rushed her. He went for the punch but dropped it. As soon a his arm went down, she jumped to the side, aiming more towards the side that he didn't fake a punch with. She couldn't risk punching his armour. She'd only break her hand. So Kay had to be sneaky. When she landed her jump, she crouched down quickly, and came back up with two small fistfuls of sand. "As my late husband used to say....Let's dance."

Sand. In the eyes of all places, it seems Kay had the capacity to be a bit sneaky after all. He straightened himself up, his hand brushing away the sand from his face as he stared down to her, seems the cat had more then dulled claws. "Yeah. And as your daughter is gonna be saying when I get back." he stopped as one of his hands came to his eye, peeling back the eyelid as a finger started to scrape at the eye, moving the sand away with a loud grunt.

His now seeing eye pierced open, a deathly stare menacing towards Kay as he turned to her, dropping his knees as he fell back into the same stance. "Please. I didn't do anything." he said with a streak of cruelty, his breath breathing heavily as in pain his eye started to dart about, focusing barely on Kay. He had other plans, it was time to push her to the ground and show her what a Phirik Covered Elbow feels like.

One handful of sand was for his eyes for a dtstraction, while the other... [member="Thraxis"] then spoke about her adopted daughter, whose whereabouts had been unknown for ten years now. At least unknown to her.

Kay stepped back a bit as he dug the sand out of his eye. He was doing this to make her drop her guard, yet she couldn't help but worry about if he spoke the truth.

While his focus was not on her, and as he was on his knees, she ran towards him, wanting to get around behind him and jump on his back. More than likely he'd try to get to his feet which would give her a second to proceed to shove the sand down his neck to fall between the armour and his skin. That should irritate him somewhat. Maybe even enough to get him to remove his protective armour later on.

Thraxis waited for the attack, taking note of small amounts of sand dropping to the ground as she rushed him. His eye focused onto his boots, if she wanted to play dirty, then so could he. He paused for a second, waiting to see what her next move was, he was expecting a kick or a punch but it seemed that this cat had only ever seen a cat fight.

As she pounced onto his back he felt her hand pushing against his lips, the feeling of sand granules brushing against his face as he snapped. He paused for a second, unknowingly opening his mouth and letting the sand get into his mouth, the taste was pour and the texture left much to be desired, as she forced it down his throat his jaw opened wide, his teeth digging into her skin as he activated his boots with a flare.

After a few seconds of high speed they crashed into the wall, his free arm gripping her to make sure she was held in place as he felt a sudden crash behind him, bones meeting Phirik and flesh meeting Steel walls. As a last resort, he flicked out his needle. If that didn't do it, he would have to take her out while she was down.

Kay cried out as he bit down on her hand. She didn't mean to have her hand anywhere near his mouth, but she was behind him, so it wasn't as though she could see.

Next second she was flying backwards, only to become crushed between [member="Thraxis"] and the wall. She didn't have body armour, though now she wished that she had. The wind was knocked out of her, but she gripped his hair on the back of his head by the roots and gave it a hard tug, or at least as hard as she could muster while being pinned against him and the wall. Hopefully he would have smacked his head against it if her tug was strong enough. Her eyes widened when she saw the needle. "Liar...No needles!...No boots!..."

As he came crashing a streak split across his face only for it to end when his head went colliding with the wall, "Arr... you little skank!" he screamed as he put his boot against her leg, igniting again as he pushed himself forward, a large clump of his hair being torn out as he looked back to her. The sand had finally left his eye as he looked with grimace at her, his breath heavy as he put his and onto his skull. "Well... no blood at least..." he said as he looked towards her, spitting out some blood as he regained posture.

"Oh no, you don't get to complain about cheating!" he yelled as he pointed towards her, his digit raised as he coughed up some spittle, "You wanted a fist fight and I obliged, took my guns off even my helmet!" he declared as he slowed down his breathing, trying to regain his calm, "And what do ya do! You throw sand in my face and force it down me throat!" he said as he prepared himself back into his stance, looking with a flare in his eyes as he stared her down, he had grown tired of her shenanigan, the minute she came towards him she was getting the needle.

Kay dropped to the ground, her leg forming heat blisters where the flames from his boot git her. It wasn't as though she could have moved out if the way. And she couldn't heal herself yet. At least not here.

She listened to his accusations and held his gaze. What was she trying to prove? All that she knew right now was that she hurt. "Can we....take a break before another round?" Probably not, but it is worth a shot to ask.

"Yeah sure go take a break. Because you are out of the tournament. You can't fight anymore like that." he said as he dropped his fists, pointing to one of the gates, his eyes were filled with fury. His knuckles cracking as he turned around, he looked to his stuff, it was a good thing nobody touched it, or else he would probably have to forfeit himself as well.

He paid little heed to whatever words Kay said next, he had no belief that she intended to win, nor did he expect her to try and back stab him. She might have been a dirty fighter but he was certain she wasn't the kind of person who would stab a man in the back as he walked away.

She breathed a sigh of relief. As he walked away, so too did the needle. Of course she had no intention of stabbing [member="Thraxis"] in the back, or anywhere for that matter. Kay was even surprised that she lasted this long.

Once he walked away, she got up and limped over to her satchel. She picked it up and then limped out of the arena. Sure her ego was bruised a bit, but it was a better ending than what could have happened.

No, she could never succeed at being a bad person. Time and time again Thraxis had proven that to her. In their constant struggle she now had to remind herself that she couldn't fight fire with fire. Instead she would have to use water.

Well... That was an enlightening few seconds. Varik's eyes narrowed at the man in charge as he turned to stalk back across the arena, and he found himself beginning to wonder if there really would be a reward for this after all. Clearly he had no issue breaking his word, as long as he had even the slightest pretense of a reason. The man fought in full body armor against an unarmored opponent robbed of her greatest strength, and he had the gall to call a little sand unfair? Clearly, he was a narcissist of the highest order.

Varik himself wore his own armor, though its coverage was far from complete. He had no helmet (though he did wear a pair of tinted goggles), and his biceps and thighs had no plating to protect them. Of course, that was how he preferred it. He liked to maintain his mobility, and you couldn't do that with armor plating clashing against itself every time you moved. Over the armor he wore a cloak of rough cloth wrapped loosely around his shoulders, both to keep the sun off him and the sand out of the rest of his attire. He motioned Kresh to stay where he was and tossed one corner of the rough garment over his left shoulder as he stepped out of the shadow of the arena wall, walking to the center and giving pointed glances to both [member="Filius Stellarum"] and [member="Solan Charr"], as if to ask which one wanted to try their luck first. Whatever weapons he carried were still hidden beneath his cloak, but it was clear from what little armor was visible that he was far from unprepared.

Weapons will be detailed in the next post once I get an answer to my question in the discussion thread.

Filius saw the man give him a glance, as if challenging him. Filius cracked a smile and left his place in the shadows. He walked towards the center of the arena, his hood pulled low over his face. His X-2 Shadowblade rifle and its accompanying scope was on his back, his X-1 Scorpion vibroblade was strapped to his chest in a sheath, and he wore his A-1 Krayt battle suit. The armor was made of phrik, at least on the chest region, but it looked like a standard blast vest as the phrik was in the form of special inserts into the vest. Filius knew that if they thought he just wore regular armor, they were likely to make a mistake.

"You called?" he said, approaching the man in the center of the arena. He raised his head and looked at the man from the shadow of his hood, his cybernetic eye giving off a faint light.

"What are your terms?" he said, crossing his arms over his chest.
