Day one

It was the water dripping on his head that woke up. His eyes open. The first thing he sees is the steel gray of the pilot consol. He lifts his head. Outside the viewport was water splashing on the side. It was waves. "Frak. We are in the water. LEILANI," he calls out.

He couldn't remember where she was. She wasn't in the cockpit. He stands and makes his way. The water was to his ankles and rising. "Sweetheart. Where are you? We are sinking. We got to abandon ship."

She wanted to lay right where she was it didn't hurt and strangely enough she was comfortable. She felt like she was floating, in fact she was in about two feet of water she just wasn't completely aware of what had happened.

One minute space, next minute water..

then she heard her name, "HAWK, here" She still didn't move, was she hurt? "Abandon ship? " She was clearly confused and clearly suffering head trauma.

Hawk was going room to room gathering supplies while searching for Leilani. He turns in the direction of her voice. He found her in the galley floating on her back. He spotted blood in the water. "Sweetheart your hurt." She looked to have a gashed on her forehead. He helped her stand up. He would deal with theirs wounds later.

"We have to get off the ship. It sinking." He threw ration, cans of food, and some kitchen utilities in a bag. He put the bag on his shoulder. He steadies her by holding her arm.

She cleared her head then nodded even though the cob webs were still lingering, she knew Hawk was there, and that he was say they had to go. Something about they were sinking.

She loved water, and to swim but..somehow she got this feeling that Hawk wasn't talking about a swim. "Ok." She finally managed to utter. She took the offered hand and waded with him through the water, "what happen?"

She was trying to piece together what had happened.

"Hyperdrive failed. We came out into an asteroid storm. We must have gotten hit." He says trying to recall. "Everything happen so fast."

They made it to the cargo bay. The ship was going down in the front. He put Leilani in front of him as he used the handrail to move them up the incline. The water wasn't as deep but it was rising quickly behind them.

"Ok don't get pushy" She moved upwards and out the gentle nudging from behind made her look back at him, "what are you thinking hmmm?" she tried to smile as she moved soon they were out, in the air.

Where were they again?

"What planet?" She didn't like bugs, did he remember that? Oh wait they crashed that mean.........NO ROOM SERVICE!

He couldn't believe that Leilani was trying to flirt with him at a time like this. They could play later. "Not sure where we are." He would know more at night when the stars came out. That was his hope. Right now they had to get to the land.

He tossed the inflatable raft in the water. He help her get in. He put the supplies in the raft. Then he climbed in. "We have to get far away from the ship. We don't want to get suck down with it.

He rowed away from the ship as quickly as he could without tipping it over.

She wasn't really hitting on him she was just wondering what he was doing. They slipped into the boat and she watched the water around them, she loved the water, but not today. She watched the ship the water wasn't too deep so there was still a chance to access the ship, but it would take effort.

She looked towards the shore, bugs, she knew there were going to be bugs.

"ok. So..do we have a way to send a signal?" She asked as they floated towards their destination.

Hawk watched his ship sink as he rowed them to shore. From his advantage point, he could just seen the engine above the surface. That was good. He could go back and get more supplies. No idea how long they could be stranded.

"Yeah I have flares." He said. "They will only be good for any ships in the atmosphere. Not from space." The raft hit the sand bottom near shore. Hawk jumped out and pulled the raft the rest of the way to shore.

"did you send a distress before we crashed?" ok flares were great in case someone flew by like he said but what about SOS. She just didn't know what to do right now.

THe boat hit the sand and it was time to get out, time to think about what was next. "ok, shelter, food, and...water" She looked about where were they>

Hawk helped Leilani out of the raft. He pulls the raft the rest of the way on shore. "We have enough water and food for a week...possible more."

He rummages through the supplies for a first aid kit. "First let me take a look at you. How are you feeling? Nausea ..dizziness. Any vision problem?“. He was concern about the bump on her head.

"ok look at me, am I bleeding?" She sat still looking at him, "i'm fine, headache, disoriented and a week isn't a long time Hawk, we need more than that, just in case" She knew about just in case, she knew about what if, and she knew about waiting.

She had a feeling they were in for all three.

He take a good look at her forehead. "The bleeding has stopped. I am going to clean and bandage the wound." He rummaged through the medikit until he found antiseptic cloths. "This might sting a little." He gently daps the wound cleaning. The last thing they needed was for it to infected. He blows on it to dry it before placing a bandage on it. "Good as new."

He knew that she was right about their situation. They had to find shelter, food and water. "Ok. I'm gonna find us some dry wood and get a fire going for tonight. Stay here and rest." He gives her a quick kiss. "Actually while you rest.. Take a inventory on what we have. I'll be back soon."

"good to know maybe it won't leave a mark either" she looked around again, "i can do that count, I can use my toes if the numbers go over ten" she smiled, trying to find some humor in all of this for if she didn't surely it would play on her mind.

"don't go far ok Hawk" Not that she worried about him, well she did but how much did he know about what she thought.

goodness that didn't matter now, all that mattered was figuring this all out.

He promises her that he won't go to far. He walked along the beach near the edge of the jungle. He picked a few sticks and branches as he walked. A brush ahead of him russslled with noise. He stops and looks at it as a small creature runs out. That is a good sign. Where they were had wildlife. That meant food. O

He watch the creature climb the tree. He spot something that looked like fruit. A closer look around the tree, Hawk spotted fruit laying on the ground. He picks a few of them up and heads back to camp. He had enough wood to light a small fire for tonight.

Leilani had a count, they had enough for about two weeks which wasn't bad but they needed more. Why? Because her OCD about being prepared had kicked in, coupled with the need for survival.

She looked around and could see Hawk headed back their way, he was carrying something. Did they have a scanner to tell whether the food was poisonous or not? She had to look.

"So what did you find?"

He set the load of branches down into the sand. "I found some trees back there with plenty of fruit hanging on it. Let's hope that this isn't poisonous ". He sat down in the sand. He was going to make them a fire pit. " How was your day? Did you find the scanner?" He couldn't remember if he had brought it or not.

He dug out a small pit using his hands than placed small stones around it.

"My day? Hawk we crashed, my day is not going well. And I haven't found the scanner, do you remember grabbing it?" She looked at what he gathered, "well we will be warm tonight, just not sure about hungry. We shouldn't eat something without knowing if it is safe, so the scanner is a must"

She got up and stretched, still looking around, "you know this wouldn't be bad if it had a house with all the amenities, and if the ship wasn't sitting in water."

"Will anyone look for the ship if it doesn't show up/"

"Frak. That means I didn't grab the scanner. It still on the ship. It's getting to dark now. I'll get it tomorrow." He lights the fire with low blaster shot. "we have some food for tonight. I'll heat up a can to stew once the fire gets going" He toss a few twigs to help the continue to grow.

He stands and goes over to give her a hug. "Don't we will be all right. Someone will find us. We can survive until then. We can build a house. We have everything that we need."

"that means you are going back into the ship tomorrow to find it too." She sighed heavily, "Yes I know, I just...Not a fan of these kinds of surprises." She tried to relax tried to focus on the fact they were still alive.

"Everything we need, I hope so Hawk. I really do." She smiled she knew he was trying.
