Personality and Appearance

Markirk is a hardy, muscled man with skin bearing the toils of past battles. When he first arrived at the First Order, he had long hair and a thick beard and was immediately outed as being one of the shorter stocks of the Knights of Ren. After becoming a full-fledged member of the Knights, Markirk wears his hair close-cropped and keeps his beard trimmed under orders so as not to look as a savage in the eyes of his comrades.

Markirk has proven himself to be a cunning, intelligent, and manipulative opportunist. Despite having the same physical power and skill that the other Knights do, he uses deception and roundabout methods in order to achieve his goals. For example, to avoid paying his debt to a degenerate mercenary on Hutta, Markirk quietly arranged for the latter's death by fabricating evidence to the local Hutt Lord.

The only true loyalties he holds are for his brothers and sisters and shows no particular bias towards any particular race or person, save for his archnemesis Darth Raptious. When pressed, however, Markirk can fight well, though he is quick to use dirty tricks such as throwing debris and attacking with hidden weapons, possibly out of fear of not achieving his ultimate goal of complete power.

Strengths
  • Natural Cunning: Markirk’s skill in combat mostly comes from utilizing his own cunning to win his battles, as a means to claim victory over those who do hold greater skill and ability over him, or at least who he perceives to hold such qualities.
  • Surprising Versatility: In stark contrast to his normal fighting style, Markirk is still well-trained against an array of different opponents, such as Jedi, thugs, soldiers, and even fellow Sith and is able to fight against multiple opponents at once should his skill overtake his fears of losing and natural inclinations to deceit.
  • Shocking Durability: Markirk displays shockingly great vitality and durability to withstand pain, as seen with his encounters with Darth Raptious who inflicted several wounds (including full on impalement) and has still lived to tell the tale.

Weaknesses
  • Expected Untrustworthiness: Even amongst his comrades, with whom he does share legitimate loyalty, he is often regarded as a snake and is never completely trusted, often leaving him to fend for himself or with wary eyes always upon him.
  • Perceived Cowardice: As a result of his fighting style, Markirk can often be seen as a coward for a Sith Warrior, choosing the route of a rat in order to accomplish his objectives such as poison or bribery. This has more than once affected his relationships with his fellow Sith and First Order comrades.

Backstory
The child of two exiled Sith, Markirk grew up in the deep underbelly of Christophsis for much of his childhood, forced into a life of secrecy and violence against the gangs that attempted to steal him for ransom. As a teenager, Markirk was condemned to fight in an arena after being sold by his parents to secretly continue his training, his power undeniable but his skill at utilizing them flawed and rudimentary. After showing an unusual level of ferocity and adaptability, despite his small size, he was once more purchased by a woman known only as The Crow for eight hundred credits.

Once again, this was planned by his parents, knowing that The Crow would finalize his training into a proper warrior of the Force. What they did not expect, however, was that The Crow was secretly an agent of the Sith, drawn to the reputation of Markirk’s power. The woman took care forging him into a Sith Warrior, encouraging him to find a reason to fight, instead of simply doing so to survive.

The desire for power proved to be that reason, Markirk’s new path beginning with his murder of The Crow, thanking her as she died in his arms for her lessons. The now twenty year old Markirk adopted his former teacher’s moniker for his last name and his nickname, becoming The New Crow, possibly as an insult or a tribute. As he finally left the confines of trainer and arena, Markirk ventured forth into the galaxy and quickly discovered that those he fought in the arena were shadows compared to the threats that he would face on his own. Thus, he further mastered the art of deception and thievery his former trainer had instilled in him in order to survive, ironically returning to his initial state before his training, only with the desire for more power added on.

Eventually, after years of surviving on his own through sheer luck (barring encounters with the destructive Darth Raptious with whom he forged an everlasting feud), Markirk found himself captured by members of the First Order after incidentally harming their growing hold on a trade-port. The First Order ultimately gave him a choice: use his skills to aid in their resurgence or face death for his crimes. Markirk chose to serve them and upon becoming an member of the Knights of Ren, he discovered a new way to serve his goal of complete power and actively seeks to accomplish it.
