MARIS VEYRA
- BACKGROUND
-
Maris was born on Carida - a world whose identity had always been tied to soldiers. Though the planet fell within Galactic Alliance territory for most of her youth, its culture remained unmistakably Imperial. Discipline, hierarchy, and martial excellence defined Caridan society, and Maris grew up believing that order was not merely desirable - it was necessary for civilisation to survive.
When she came of age, the only military available to her was the Galactic Alliance Defence Force. She enlisted without hesitation, entering the ranks as an Alliance Trooper and quickly proving herself within the academy and training corps. Unlike many recruits who sought heroism, Maris approached warfare with clinical clarity. To her, battles were not contests of glory but exercises in control.
Her first real command experience came during the violent final campaigns against the Brotherhood of the Maw, a chaotic and destructive entity that still tore through the galaxy while in its death throes. These brutal engagements forged Maris into a hardened battlefield commander. She led from the front, demanded absolute discipline, and treated every operation as a calculated problem to be solved. It was during these campaigns that the soldiers under her command first gave her a name.
The Iron Lady.
Not because she was cruel - though many enemies believed her to be - but because she never wavered. Where others hesitated in the fog of war, Maris issued orders with absolute certainty and under her command, units moved with frightening precision, crushing insurgents and Maw remnants alike with methodical efficiency.
Yet even as she served the Alliance faithfully, Maris grew increasingly disillusioned with its political leadership. Endless debate and bureaucratic paralysis, she believed, had allowed chaos to fester across the galaxy. To her, the Alliance was strong only when its soldiers ignored politics and imposed discipline where governments failed.
Her suspicions were confirmed when the Dark Empire rose, followed by its successor - the Galactic Empire. The Alliance fought fiercely but ultimately collapsed under the pressure of renewed Imperial might. When the final defeat came, Maris made a decision that would define the rest of her life.
She refused to surrender.
To her, the regime that had conquered the galaxy was not the Empire she respected. It was merely another unstable regime built on Sith intrigue, political opportunism and fractured command. They called themselves Imperials, but to her, they were false heirs to the concept of order. Rather than allow herself or her soldiers to be absorbed, or executed, by this new regime, Maris led a loyal contingent of Alliance veterans into exile.
Their destination was the Unknown Regions.
These were not deserters - they were soldiers who had fought beside her for years, veterans hardened by war against Maw and Empire alike. They trusted her discipline, her judgment and her vision for what the galaxy could become if true order were ever established.
In the darkness beyond the frontier, these loyal troopers became something new.
Under Maris’s command, they abandoned the fractured identity of the fallen Alliance and embraced the principles she had long believed in: absolute discipline, meritocratic leadership and the complete eradication of chaos through military order.
This core of battle-tested veterans would eventually become the foundation of her personal stormtrooper formation - a Legion that other soldiers would come to regard with equal parts admiration and fear.
Officially, it is one of the most elite legions within the emerging military order forming in the Unknown Regions.
Unofficially, its reputation has earned it a far more evocative title: The Iron Hammer of Order.
Now, as scattered Imperial remnants gather around hidden bastions near Zakuul, Maris Veyra stands among the commanders helping forge the foundations of something entirely new. A force that has studied the failures of both Alliance and Empire and rejected them alike.
The soldiers who follow her know exactly what she believes.
The galaxy does not need another Republic, nor does it need another corrupt empire.
What it needs…is order without compromise.
And when the hidden power rising in the Unknown Regions finally emerges as the First Order, the Iron Lady intends for its legions to carry that truth to every star system in the galaxy.
With an iron hammer in hand.
- PERSONALITY
-
Maris is a woman defined by discipline, conviction and an unshakeable belief that the galaxy can only survive under firm and uncompromising order. Calm and composed in nearly every situation, she carries herself with the quiet authority of someone who expects to be obeyed without needing to raise her voice. Among soldiers she is known for her steady presence in moments of crisis. Panic and hesitation simply do not exist in her vocabulary.
Despite the severity of her reputation, Maris is not driven by cruelty or blind fanaticism. She is intensely pragmatic, viewing war and governance as matters of structure and necessity rather than emotion. To her, chaos is the greatest evil in the galaxy, responsible for the rise of warlords, Sith cults, collapsing governments and endless suffering for ordinary people.
Order, even harsh order, is therefore not oppression in her mind, but a duty.
This perspective makes her a demanding commander. Maris expects absolute discipline, competence and loyalty from those under her command, and she has little patience for excuses or incompetence. Yet the soldiers who serve beneath her rarely resent these expectations. She is known for leading from the front when necessary and for sharing the hardships as well as the joys of her troops rather than hiding behind rank. The veterans who followed her into the Unknown Regions did so not out of fear, but because they trusted her judgment and believed in the vision she represents.
The nickname “Iron Lady” reflects more than her battlefield reputation - it reflects her personality. Maris is unwavering in her beliefs and remarkably resistant to intimidation, manipulation or political pressure. Where others bend to changing tides of power, she remains immovable, guided by the simple conviction that a strong and disciplined hand must shape the future of the galaxy.
To her allies she is a symbol of stability and strength.
To her enemies she is a warning of the kind of order that cannot be negotiated with.
And to the soldiers of the 1st Iron Legion, she is the commander who will one day help forge a galaxy where chaos no longer has the power to rule.

STRENGTHS
+Strategic Mind- Years of fighting insurgencies and chaotic forces such as the Brotherhood of the Maw have honed her ability to analyze conflicts quickly. She excels at identifying weaknesses in enemy structures and exploiting them with calculated precision.
+Command Authority- Maris carries a natural command presence that inspires loyalty among professional soldiers. Those who serve under her respect her consistency, competence, and willingness to share the hardships of war alongside them.
+Veteran of Disorder- Having fought through the collapse of the Galactic Alliance and the rise and fall of multiple regimes, Maris understands the dangers of political fragmentation and instability better than most officers.
+Unshakable Conviction- Her belief in absolute order gives her immense mental resilience. She does not easily waver in the face of intimidation, political pressure or ideological challenges - be they Force-related or otherwise.
-Rigid Worldview- Maris’s belief that order must be imposed through strength makes it difficult for her to understand political compromise or decentralised governance. She often views negotiation as weakness.
WEAKNESSES
-Low Tolerance for Incompetence - She has little patience for officers who hesitate or perform poorly. While this creates a highly efficient command structure, it can also create tension among subordinates who struggle to meet her standards.
-Authoritarian Instincts - Her instinct is always to centralise control and enforce discipline, even in situations where flexibility or diplomacy might produce better long-term outcomes.
-Emotionally Guarded - Maris rarely allows others to see vulnerability or personal doubt. While this reinforces her reputation as the Iron Lady, it can isolate her from forming deeper personal connections outside of professional loyalty. Very few can break through that.
-Burden of Responsibility - Maris carries a profound sense of responsibility for shaping the future of the galaxy. This can lead her to push herself - and those under her command - beyond reasonable limits in pursuit of her vision of order.
