SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Zero G: The magno-grip boots, combined with the internal oxygen reservoir, allows the wearer to perform well in low and zero-gravity operations, including boarding action from the exterior of a ship.
  • Environmentalist: The sealed bodysuit and oxygen reservoir makes the armor suitable protection against environmental hazards such as temperatures.
  • Battle Plate: The armor provides admirable protection against two of the galaxy's most widespread sources of damage: blasters and slugthrowers.
  • Sucker: In times of emergency, the armor's backplate contains a retractable tube to siphon the oxygen reservoirs of other stormtrooper armor.
WEAKNESSES
  • Big Bang: The Marine Raider BDU provides very little protection against sonic attacks, only marginally better than no armor at all.
  • EMP/Ion: The armor's systems, such as the MFTAS and stabilizer gloves, are not protected from EMPs or Ion weapons, nor does the armor impart any such protection to any electronics the wearer has on them (ie commlinks, cybernetic limbs, etc.).
  • Thigh-Blaster: The upper legs of the armor are only offered minimal protection by the armor's kama which is only intended to protect against shrapnel and will not hold up to direct fire.
  • Helmet: If the helmet's integrity is compromised, the suit loses its capability to perform in vacuum.
DESCRIPTION
The Marine Raider BDU, as its name implies, is armor designed by TarkinTech for use by the Eriadu Authority's elite Marine Raiders. As successors of the Galactic Marines, the Marine Raider's armor is essentially a modernized version of their armor, albeit usually in plain white rather than maroon. The suit features an internal oxygen reservoir offering an hour of air, and its magno-grip boots allow the Raiders to cling to the hulls of vessels as they board. The armor's duraplast and synthmesh construction hold up quite well against blaster and slugthrower fire, and provide decent protection against environmental pathogens, temperatures, and hard vacuum.

The armor is not without its weaknesses, of course. It provides no protection to the wearer from EMPs and Ion Weapons and very little from Sonic Weapons, and the design of the armor leaves the upper legs of the wearer exposed. In addition, if the helmet's integrity is compromised or its airtight seal broken, the wearer loses all EVA capability and protection against environmental hazards. These downsides are worth it, though, according to the Authority and their Marines, who believe the protection and EVA capabilities it provides are more than adequate.
