Vorkuta: One of the finest gulags in the Imperial Confederation, Vorkuta is a massive facility, holding nearly 5,000 prisoners, and contributing to almost half of the Imperial Confederation's metal production. Vorkuta itself is a marvel. Metal walls several feet thick and several stories tall surround the facility, giving the incarcerated no chance of escape. If that's not enough, around the clock guards, an extensive security camera system, and an alarm system that is infallible.

Some prisoners from different corners of the Galaxy try to keep their spirits up with memories of home and racial traditions, but those are quickly stomped out by the guards. There is no happiness in Vorkuta if you are a prisoner. Point blank period.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: None.
  • Affiliation: Core Imperial Confederation
  • Wealth: Low - Only amount of wealth that can be found on the planet is within the prison facility.
  • Stability: High. Prisoners are kept in line by strong security measures and around the clock guards.
  • Freedom & Oppression: Should someone end up a prisoner on Mardum IV, they are forced to forfeit all of their freedoms they had before and they are replaced with the scarce amount of freedoms allowed on Mardum IV. Freedom to eat, sleep, and, most importantly, work are all the freedoms that the prisoners of Mardum IV have.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: Currently, the lone installation on Mardum IV has the only military forces in the system. Numbering over 2,000 strong, the Imperial forces there are composed of troopers, medical staff, and some armored vehicles.
  • Technology: Galactic Standard
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The world of Mardum IV is rather bare as the planet's surface has proven rather hostile to most who attempted to inhabit the world.

First exploration of the world occurred during the era of the Republic. Preliminary reports on the planet's terrain allowed explorers to deploy probe droids to search for any lands able to be inhabited. The deserts appeared to be decent enough spots to start up camp. Explorers landed on one of the planet's many deserts and began to set up camp. For several days, they studied the environment and sent their research back to Coruscant. Within a couple weeks, the explorers had nearly the entire desert mapped out.

Then, suddenly, explorers would start to go missing without a trace. One by one, they would be taken until none were left. What was behind their disappearance continues to remain a mystery.

In 847 ABY, the Galactic Alliance expressed their interest in the Mardum system, however the reports from the Republic's archives led them to decided to leave the system in peace.

After the fall of the Galactic Alliance, others have attempted to tame the savage world, but none were able to. That was, until, the Imperial Confederation had gained control over the system. Utilizing brute force, the CIC was able to successfully create a mining colony on the planet. After many months of the mining colony growing, it came under attack by the planet's native sandscorpions. After this, the Emperor declared the planet unsafe for habitation. Instead of trying to form a mining colony, the CIC instead had a gulag constructed over the old colony. There, the CIC would send it's prisoners to work until death for the glory of the Imperial Confederation.

So pretty simple and straight forward prison planet, not a lot to comment on aside from a recommendation to add the CIC into your "Links" header, as the planet is closely affiliated with them.

Once you've decided if you want to change it, let me know and I'll kick it up for the RPJs/Admins to approve.

[member="Voph"] The planet itself isn't affiliated with the CIC. Only the prison itself which will be a sub later on. Only reason the planet can be considered affiliated is that it's within the CIC's influence cloud.

Given that you have the planet listed as affiliated with the CIC under government and economy, and you do reference the fact that the CIC took control of the system in the historical info. Since some folks might not be familiar with who or what the CIC are, I'm gonna ask that you either link CIC in the links header, or re-write this to reflect that the CIC only holds control over the prison facility.

[member="Voph"] Made some edits. And the CIC do control the planet, currently. Unless influence clouds mean something else now. The sub just reflects that what is current in relation to the site's timeline.

If the CIC are supposed to be in control of the planet I'll need you to link to the faction's main page under your links header. Also, it seems your Affiliation header under Government and Economy went missing, that will need to be re-added.

Erik Morkshna said:
CIC does not control the planet.

I'm confused. Do they, or do they not?

Either way, per the Planet Submission Template:

GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: [ Federal Republic would describe a government such as the United States. Other general terms can be used. ]
  • Affiliation: [ Does this planet fall under the rule of a certain person or faction? Company or group? Link any relevant characters, faction pages, or groups. ]
  • Wealth: [ Poor, Low, Medium, High, Wealthy. Describe, briefly, why. ]
  • Stability: [ Low, Medium, High. Are there major issues causing unrest? Is this a planet of chaos or one of peaceful law abiding citizens? Is it dangerous for travelers to visit or are you safe as an outsider? Describe the general feel and theme of any overarching government or rulers/leaders in this city. ]
  • Freedom & Oppression: [ Describe the atmosphere of freedom on this planet. Are the people fairly free or is oppression of society and commerce heavy? Does it have a dictatorial ruler? Is fear of the ruling body prevalent? Relaxed and open? Is anything unusual illegal or permitted? ]

This entry MUST be added back to the submission, regardless of what data will be entered in this field. As it stands, you have two options. You can link the CIC under Links, and list CIC as Affiliation, or you can list Affiliation as none, and remove all wording from the submission indicating that the planet and system are under CIC control. Let me know what you decide.
